We had high expectations maybe because we live in DC, maybe because we saw the menu options, or possibly because the Christmas decor and overall ambiance was beautiful. Either way, the experience just wasn't what we expected. We were seated immediately and given menus. I was in love with all the seafood options, but my husband and I were craving steak. I ordered a crème brûlée martini that was fabulous. We also decided on the Cajun calamari appetizer. The calamari was plated with a plastic cup containing the dipping sauce. I hate to say this, but if you want to keep up a semblance of fine dining , black plastic cups shouldn't be a thing. We were on the fence about the calamari. Some pieces were soggy, but the flavor used in the breading was great. We finished and saw the decorative lettuce swimming in grease. Our Caesar salads were wonderful. When we got our steaks we were underwhelmed. The infamous black plastic cup was back and although I asked for extra butter and sour cream, that didn't happen. Both steaks were cooked to the temperature ordered but bland. I suppose we should have paid extra for the flavor add-ons. Sadly we had no salt/pepper so we took it from the empty table next to us. We ran out of water during the entree so we scrapped any idea of asking about dessert. We got the $127 check that included one drink, one appetizer, two small salads, and two entrees. Overall a 3-star experience, and for the price, that's polite. Could we have sent items back...yes. I truly felt that subpar calamari and bland steaks were not getting any better with a second try and they would still come out with a lackluster plastic cup in the wake. The service was decent. The waitresses were pleasant. Although we visit Owego regularly, I doubt our time will be well served coming back. We wanted to love this place but it didn't happen for us.

Despite the ominous name, the restaurant was great. The food was amazing but the best part was the atmosphere. I felt like I was in an excellent club. The people were amazing. And overall, it was amazing.

So... a lot has changed and the Cellar is under new management. First of all, bravo! It's better. The new owners have updated the interior and it's simply stunning. As is the food , the appetizers are better than ever. They now have calamari which is delicious. The smoked salmon is as great as ever and the entrees are well worth the price. This is a must visit restaurant in Owego and a true gem. Well done and highly recommended

Very enjoyable. Excellent food at a good price. Would love to try the lobster thermador but need to plan for the minimum 45 minute cook time.

10 out of 10 on food, service and a beautiful ambiance. After myself moving from a more populated larger city, it has been difficult to find a restaurant that hits all of the notches in a foodies belt... I want my food to look pretty, smell pretty and smile while eating it! Jon (behind the bar) makes a delicious custom cocktail while the kitchen crew works their magic behind historic swinging doors. I will for sure be back and tell others too!

We came too early for dining so we hung out at the bar for a bit. John, the bartender, is friendly & professional. In addition to the Beach Breeze he was able to create a Bushwacker. Very good. The Island Burger is deliciously juicy & tender. The House Salad, with dried cranberries & walnuts with a harvest dressing, also good. Our waitress is professional but not friendly. Elegant dining & atmosphere.

We booked this restaurant for our celebratory dinner for our son's graduation from BU. They put out a special, condensed menu for this weekend, as it's also Mother's Day weekend, and "we don't want our chef to be so overwhelmed by the crowd that they'd jump into the river!" according to our marvelous waiter, who was attentive, knowledgeable, efficient and with a great sense of humor (which adds value to our experience, making it ever more enjoyable). The river was out the dining room window, a gorgeous view to accompany our meal. We were all really hungry so ordered a lot of food. Every bite was amazing! We finished everything, even after we were all too full to eat any more. Just didn't want to waste such deliciousness. It was a perfect and memorable evening in every aspect!

We had a great table on the water. It was a busy Saturday afternoon, and the place was packed. The staff did a great job managing the work flow. Clearly an experienced group of people. We ordered the top item on the menu, the cheese steak sandwich, added some peppers. It was quite good. The fries here are and definitely get an order. The problem happened when I ordered the house burger- another top menu item. I asked for "medium rare", which should have a hot center but some pink left. What I got was well done- and dry as the desert. I had to drink a lot of water to wash it down. Normally-if this was a steak, I'd send it back. But- it was a burger and the kitchen was already jammed, so I choked it down- I was really hungry. I would not order the steak here- pretty sure a 6 ounce filet would end badly. Other dishes being served at other tables looked great. I would come back here. It's a great place. Thus- 5 stars.

We ordered 3 Firecracker fries and all were cold. We also ordered a Philly stake sand and a hamburger well done. The hamburger came medium rare. Asked to get a well done one. The cook decided to be a complete dick and burnt it. The waitress took that off the bill and we took home our fries to heat in the microwave. Waitress was nice and did the best she could; she was tipped regardless of the food issues.

Once for a bonfire! Lol It's a local thing. They have a wonderful casual deck. I love sitting out there. On this last visit, we skipped the beers, and went straight for Babe's burgers. They are stationed on the deck. I ordered their burger with carmelized onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. Pickle on the side. The tomato was a farm fresh Tomato which is AWESOME! It was a local farm grown tomato, and the burger was delish. We ordered a small fries, and 3 of us shared them, and still threw some out. Yes, a small is that large. They don't sell drinks at the babes burger window. We got those at the bar. They had a free water jug, with plastic cups. I ordered a Waterloo sparking water, one friend had regular water, and the last had a soda. Because the owner makes their own beer there. I highly recommend checking them out, for beers and burgers. We didn't order any this time, because we were getting ready to go on a long drive. But....Since I live there, I can confirm their beer is worth it! I love their casual atmosphere, it's a great place to go to talk and dine. It's a local place, so it wouldn't be awkward to see go there and run into friends and start combining tables. Everyone is super friendly, so if you're ever lonely or bored, it's a great place to stop by, and hang out, you're almost guaranteed to make new friends. Parking can be tricky if they are busy, but people park on the street as long as they don't block any cars from getting by. I also love that they allow dogs, on leash, and they can't beg. Common sense rules, so don't leave your dog at home. Bring them out!
