Had actually visited the Grove for a wedding venue tour. I was easily able to schedule the appointment online and finalized everything in email. We noticed the beautiful grounds and outdoor space as we walked from the parking to the entrance. Upon entry the foyer was very elegant with grand staircases and beautiful chandeliers. I'm a sucker for nice chandeliers. We waited in the foyer area for someone to greet us for our appointment. We weren't sure where to go or who was going to be giving us our tour. I had called the main number to let them know that we were waiting downstairs and said someone was going to meet us. Raul was our guide and warmly welcomed us. We started the tour ceremony space. Beautiful room! They were actually getting ready for a 500 guest wedding so the room was set up a little differently. But he described how it would be set up for a smaller guest count. Then we proceeded to the cocktail hour room across the way. And mentioned some of the cocktail hour options and how it would be set up. He did also speak about the different ethnic foods that they can incorporate in the menu as they have many chefs from different cultural backgrounds. So he mentioned some Filipino foods like pancit and lumpia and lechon. I love that those foods are an option! We then went to the reception space. They were still setting up but it was a fairly large room and of course beautiful crystal chandeliers and grand stairway. After the tour Raul brought us upstairs and showed us the bride and groom lounges. The groom lounge had a balcony that overlooked the cocktail hour space. Raul then went over the price breakdowns and the prices were fair and comparable to other venues we had visited. Raul also said to visit the outdoor ceremony space. We took a peak as they were decorating. Very nice space for a ceremony and photos. Beautiful venue overall and a top venue contender for us. read more

Attended a wedding here and was really impressed by the quality of the food and the quality and training of the staff. Being the busybody I am I had to enquire. I found the Maitre D, named Atef (will get his last name) and sure enough, When I complimented his staff especially our server Ibrahmin, he mentioned he worked at the four seasons (I said 4S level svc) and the Beverly Wilshire etc. What a pleasant surprise to have such impeccably trained banquet staff at a beautiful NJ facility. Huge shoutouts to Omar in the 1st floor for making sure the wedding last night Friday was rocking and popping! He took care of me the whole time since the moment I got there.I have taken a couple videos and not as much photos (sucks!) but I was one man army assuring my DJing was on point. My friends sons wedding had a fire the night before and the venue found them The Grove by the grave of God. Can't say enough great things about this place : from the waiting valets who were very welcoming , the waiters with 2 different cocktails to chose from in the lobby area ( whit cosmo and Manhattan ) The cocktail hr was amazing : my hubby was thrilled with the tequila bar which had very high end choices , mini tacos, fresh Guacamole, salsa etc. Another station had several kinds of paella, carving stations , Asian station etc. Dinner was a beauty salad with mandarin oranges and candied pecans . Orecchiette with tomato sauce and ricotta ( a bit overcooked to my taste . Entrees: choice of filet mignonette, sea bass or chicken . Came with broccolini and mashed potatoes . The filet was the best I've ever had and the mashed was delicious . The waiters were very attentive , constantly refilling water glasses, folding napkins etc. dessert was a plate with a chocolate covered strawberry, mini crème brûlée ,chocolate with ice cream and piece of cake . Then they came around with plates of truffles, followed by a shooter glass of milk and chocolate chip cookies. I couldn't partake in those as I was full ! WhT could have been a non event because of a fire at the original venue turned out to be one of the best weddings we've ever been to . The space was large , roomy and gorgeous. I stopped by the The Grove a few weeks ago for my uncles birthday party. It's super fancy!!! I felt a little intimidated by how upscale it is. Seriously I've been to weddings that weren't this nice. We had a full three course meal with a room full of appetizers & deserts. There was mac'n cheese with bacon bits, pulled pork sliders, mini cups of chili, chicken & waffles, a full bar, and a ton of other really tasty stuff I didn't have time to get around to. Idk how much it would cost to throw a party here but if I had money I'd host an event at this place. read more

I was there Wednesday for an awards dinner and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. was amazed. Great service- friendly and attentive! The food was very unique and incredibly delicious - unexpected at a large gathering. They thought of everything - fish, lots of vegetables, no incredible cheeses and salads at the cocktail hour. The ambience is fit for a king or Queen - beautiful and clean. Dinner was delicious and when I asked for a vegetarian meal - they were on top of it and I had a great meal switched out in minutes. The only reason why I am giving this place 1 star is because the receptionist gave my aunt a glass of water. Oh, and because Yelp doesn't allow a 0 star rating. My aunt had an appointment scheduled with Tracy for 4pm today. When we arrived there, we were asked to wait a few minutes because Tracy was finishing up with her clients. After a few minutes, Tracy greets us and before we start the tour, my aunt asks her to wait for my uncle because he was parking the car. She tells us that it's no problem and to call her over when we're ready. As we're waiting for my uncle to join us (which was no longer than 2-3 minutes from when we asked Tracy to kindly wait), she comes outside and tells us that Raul will be touring with us instead, then she proceeds to take on different clients.....even though our appointment was scheduled with her. But fine. We waited 10 minutes for Raul, then 15, then 20. Finally, someone greets us. His name was Jason. My uncle asks where Raul was since Tracy wasn't able to accommodate us and was told that Raul wasn't available either. But finally our tour begins. He shows us the ballroom, gives us the details, and at the end of the tour he asks where we're from. I proceed to tell him that we're from Jersey City. He then makes the statement "Oh, so this is much different from places you guys are used to." Immediately I thought "what kind of places are we supposed to be used to? Please enlighten me." However, because this was for my cousin's birthday party, I was unable to respond accordingly until they made the decision that they were ruling out this venue. My uncle and aunt didn't hear this very inappropriate comment, but my cousin did hear it. My cousin and I sat through the rest of the tour not giving a damn about what he had to say. My cousin knew instantly she didn't want her party at a place with staff who have preconceived notions of the kind of places potential clients are supposedly used to. As we're in the car, my cousin and I tell my aunt and uncle the comment Jason made. They were in complete distraught. With that said, it's an absolute no for The Grove. My wife and I attended a wedding here on Saturday. One word can describe The Grove, INCREDIBLE! This was the nicest wedding venue I have ever attended. The food, alcohol, service, decor are all top notch. When you walk in the door is opened for you with staff wearing black tuxedos. while welcoming you in your handed ice water. As you wait for the ceremony to begin the staff is walking around with champagne. The ceremony is held in one room. After the ceremony your taken to another room for the cocktail hour. There were 12 serving stations while staff walked around with appetizers. At most station s there was a shot glass of some beverage representing the country the food was from. Each station had an ice sculpture. For example Mexico had four different tequilas. The staff member would pour the shooter through the ice into your glass. I could go on and on. To say that I was impressed is an understatement. We attended a wedding this past Sunday for a daughter of our very dear friends, and everything was top-notch. From the moment we pulled up when the valet took our car, it set the right tone for the evening. We were greeted by several staff members who offered various welcoming drinks and then we were ushered into a giant room for an elaborate cocktail hour. The food was out of this world. There were so many stations: sushi, charcuterie, Asian, Mexican, paella, seafood, meat carving, I can't even remember them all, plus, there was a galore of passed appetizers. There were two bars setup on each end of the room, so you never had to wait long for a drink. The staff members were always on hand to clear your plates, and making sure you did not need anything. Then, a ceremony and the party began in its earnest! The dinner was family-style appetizers and then an entree for each person and for dessert, besides the cake, there was a huge Viennese table and stations. I have never seen such variety and we are really spoiled by amazing banquet menus at the Russian restaurants. This was above and beyond. The service throughout the entire dinner was lovely. Bringing us drinks, keeping an eye on things running smoothly. This was surely an affair to remember, and The Grove has done right by our friends who worked very hard to make this wedding a celebration of love and family. read more

However, The Grove was so good in all areas I had to write something! The decor is excellent and gives you a feel of a contemporary and well maintained venue. The service superb! Extremely professional, very attentive and very polite! The food? Wow! I never expected the quality and variety from a catering hall. Magnificent! The cocktail hour had a tremendous variety and plenty of food. Chicken and waffles, sushi, lamb chops, meat carvings, etc. The dinner entries were excellent I was able to sample a few. I was especially fond of the Filet Mignon. It was coked to perfection. Last but certainly not least was the desserts. Amazing display and assortments of wedding desserts! I do not even know where to begin with the Grove. They went above and beyond. Any expectation we had was completely blown out of the water. We worked with Jimmy directly, but every single one of the staff members were beyond exceptional. My husband wanted to bring to life a traditional celebration from where we are from, here in the US. I couldn't have imagined anything remotely close to what Jimmy was able to put together. We had a large wedding with a first look and a celebration of about 40 people before the church. They did not skip a beat in any aspect the entire day! The food, service, lighting, and everything was utter perfection! Almost 3 years later, everyone still talks about how amazing the Grove was. Let me tell you, going to attend a wedding at the Grove while you're in the midst of planning your own wedding is a terrible, terrible idea. This is because the Grove is INCREDIBLY beautiful, the service is impeccable, and the overall atmosphere of the wedding could not have been more perfect. Seriously, this place is the bee's knees. I attended a wedding here over Columbus Day weekend and was impressed from the moment I walked through the doors. The exterior is actually not all that impressive as you drive past, but when you pull up in front to get your car valeted (fancy from the first moment!) and as soon as you step inside, you're in a different world. Incredible artistic chandeliers hang from the ceiling, there are two enormous ballrooms (that can be partitioned off), a grand staircase, and even the bathrooms are incredible! The service was all white gloves and smiles as we were greeted with a glass of champagne before the ceremony, and the ceremony itself was gorgeous. The ballrooms have specialty lighting BUILT IN to the columns and ceiling, so everything was impeccably lit and displayed. The spotlights, uplighting, and party lighting in the ceiling was seriously one of the most impressive things I've seen in a special events venue. The only minor qualms that I had with the space as a guest was that they started setting up for a second wedding before our wedding had concluded (the wedding I attended was from 11 - 4), which was a little confusing as some guests thought that the guest card placards they were setting out for wedding #2 were favors for our wedding. They were also short 8 desserts, which meant that our table got shafted on the sweets, and the server who informed us was quick to harshly blame the caterer which felt a little tacky. Also, the valet took a really long time with our car in particular, bringing out other guests' cars first, even though they arrived at the valet after us. I can't speak as to the cost of this place (preliminary searches seem to indicate that their food & bev minimum is quite high), but given the proximity to NYC it's probably relatively fairly priced, and if you're looking for an elegant, upscale, gorgeous venue, you should absolutely give The Grove a gander. read more

I've been to large catering venues all over NJ and I'm not usually overwhelmed...nice places, but nothing that blew me away. The Grove was one of the first to come close. Located right on Pompton Ave. in Cedar Grove, it was easy to get to and easy to get out of with a valet service was better and faster and friendlier than most places I've been to in recent years. We were here for a huge party that my wife's business unit was putting on for the entire group + 1s and they did it right...seemingly spared no expense, which was nice because these folks deserved a party like this. The company rented out the whole place so we had the run of the place. The food was phenomenal...I couldn't have been happier with the offerings. Carving station, caviar and vodka station, two pasta stations, seared ahi tuna and salmon, an Asian station, a huge veggie and veggie dishes station (i just call this filler if we're at a normal buffet, but this was excellent), sliders and Mac and cheese...you get the point-I cant name everything, but it was all there if you wanted it. Everything my wife and I had was superb. The bars were staffed with friendly and knowledgeable bartenders who kept the lines moving. All of the staffing was friendly and excellent-you barely knew the bus staff was there-you turned around and your table was clear. In the areas outside the main dining areas, they had brought in casino tables and the dealers were a lot of fun...keeping the players happy and into the games and making sure no one took themselves too seriously since it was all play money. They even hired professional dancers to get people out onto the dance floor...which I thought was brilliant. We had a blast here at the Grove and I thought it was an excellent venue for a large event like this. I don't know what it would be like for a smaller event like a wedding, but I'd like to assume they'd have similar staffing and professional waiters. They could easily fit two weddings at the Grove at the same time, though I don't know how you brides would like that. One last note-the bathrooms were gigantic and amazingly clean. From the minute I walked into the marble lobby entrance, and saw the waiter service at the cocktail hour I knew I was in for a good experience. I was at a retirement party for a colleague on a Friday night with a few hundred other guests. We were treated to a cocktail hour with a buffet table of fresh fruits, cheeses and also waiters serving up apps. There were a couple of stations to get drinks, wine or cocktails and the service was attentive throughout the event. At the sit down dinner, our wait staff were quick and pleasant. The food was excellent, including a delicious house champagne vinaigrette dressing on our salad and phenomenal dessert plate of cake, ice cream in a wafer-like cookie shell and even edible flowers on the plate. There is a dance floor in the center of the reception hall and lots of space for guests to mingle near the tables. I had my wedding here on 03/29/13. It has been a year since then but after going to other peoples weddings, I can truly appreciate this venue! Pros: The employees and managers! High ceilings Lots of chandeliers Up lighting included The food is AMAZING The drink they hand to guests as they walk in (I thought it was so cute) Marble floors in lobby Cons: L shaped reception hall Price! 1 small stage included As you guys can see there are not too many cons and those cons are just my opinions. I needed 2 stages, one for me and one for the band. I had 400 guests so the L shaped hall made it complicated for seating, and the price was negotiated, just the beginning price had me so shocked especially after visiting a few places around the area. Guests left our wedding complimenting the venue, from the waiters that were kind and attentive to the food that was so above par and the beautiful halls. If the price discourages you at first, see if you can sacrifice a few things to make it a little lower. Although I needed to take a few things out of the package, my wedding was so perfect! My husband and I got married here 6/8/18 and The Grove was absolutely fabulous. The whole venue catered to us and our guests. Our family and guests were treated with the utmost respect and everything and anything they wanted The Grove accommodated. Hospitality is impeccable. I was visiting The Grove for a symposium this week, and as I was grabbing coffee, I asked a young server for creamer. He offered half and half as well as milk. I told him I was looking for heavy cream, but I'd just l skip the coffee because I was particular. No worries. But then, the young man said he would grab me heavy cream and then went searching for it. I returned later for more coffee, and the heavy cream was out. The same young man Carlos went down to the kitchen and specifically grabbed more heavy cream for my coffee. He didn't say, "Sorry we are out" or make an excuse. Wonderful, Extraordinary, are some words to describe The Grove. I had my Dream Wedding at The Grove this past weekend 4/21/17, my husband and I are so happy with everything. I first went to look at The Grove in January 2016 and as soon as I walked in I knew I wanted my wedding there. When I was choosing a wedding venue, I was looking for three things, tall ceilings, one wedding at a time and a big cocktail room so that my guests didn't feel cramped. The Grove met all three of these things and more. It was such a pleasure to work with Andrew. I emailed him MANY times before my wedding asking all different kinds of questions. He answered all of my questions quickly and with such professionalism. That was such a great help since I was such a nervous bride and I wanted everything to be perfect. The day of my wedding went flawlessly! The service was like nothing I have ever experienced before. Ashley my bridal attendant was always with me, she got me anything and everything. She put my lipstick on me for photos, she touched up my hair, brought me a new drink before I finished the one I had, she bustled my gown, she even undid my gown and re-tied it so that it wasn't so tight. All of the attendants were great though, they had their walkie talkes to let each other know where my husband and I were at different times of the night. They were always bringing us things and letting us know about different things. My guests just cannot stop talking about how beautiful the venue is and the service they received. I am beyond happy with my experience working with The Grove. I would definitely recommend this venue. The spread was amazing and included rack of lamp, fine cheeses, plump shrimp, well seasoned meats, and a Patron fountain. The staff were on point, professional and accommodating; and the add-ons they provided were awesome - smoke machine, bride and groom's name projected on the dance floor, sparklers on champagne bottles, several libation fixtures, and I could go on and on.
