Words cannot describe the amazing experience we had at Mamma Vittoria November 8th. We celebrated our 21st year Anniversary in this beautiful place, and had the most amazing stress free time. Nella, a delight to work with, really an amazing person with a beautiful heart. She definitely went above and beyond for us and did a fantastic job making sure we were taken care of leaving us with every reason to brag about our event. The service was exceptional! The whole team at Mamma Vittoria made sure to accommodate our every need as well as my guests. Laura was fantastic throughout the night along with Joanna and Samuel. All three were very observant & attentive to our guest, well organized, and just so sweet. The cocktail hour & dinner was great, everything tasted just as perfect as it looked, the portions were very generous, everything was freshly made and seasoned well. We kept hearing all night about how good everything was especially the calamari's, the seasoned potatoes, the moist flavorful chicken and so much more. Everything went so well that day, absolutely perfect and we owe it all to Mamma Vittoria and their staff. They truly go above and beyond to make sure their guests are relaxed and having an amazing time. My family has been throwing parties at this venue for YEARS. This is the first year booking a party here under their new management. My mom's 60th birthday party was planned to start at 6pm & I was told by Jude that we are able to come 2 hours earlier to start setting up and that he would help. We arrived at 4 pm & found previous party guest still in the venue and staff not even attempting to clear the room. I was met with a woman who rudely told me that there are still guests in the room and that we have to wait until they are done cleaning. (Our party started in an hour at that point, it was a half assed cleaning job) Jude had arrived half an hour later. I called the venue 14 times to try and clear things up and no one answered. Prior to the party, I was trying to explain that we need more time than just 2 hours to set up and I was dismissed with condescending remarks as if we were just throwing some pictures on the wall and a few balloons here and there. They should've had the previous party end and cleared out hours before. There was no water, soda or bread set on the tables for our guests when they came in. When my aunt asked of the ladies working for some soda, she was apparently very rude. Our event was from 6 pm - 10 pm. I understand that the lights will be turned on when the party is over but there was no courtesy warning a few minutes before. This is a message to the new management - take it from someone who has been in the restaurant industry for 12+ years, you lack hospitality and your greediness for money shows in the way you interact with your clients. Needless to say, they will be losing us as clients and to anyone reading this review, just know we aren't the type of people to complain about ANYTHING. Don't waste your money here. read more

I have been to Mamma Vittoria twice. Schools in Nutley have a lot of their student events there. This last time I visited was for a repass. I was pleasantly surprised that they had roast pork as one of the entrées in the buffet. I don't typically think of that being an Italian dish, but regardless it was really delicious and that made me happy! They also had chicken francaise amongst other dishes. I must say that I consider myself a chicken francaise connoisseur. Lol! That is my favorite Italian dish and what I always pick when I go to an Italian restaurant. I found this particular chicken franchise to be just OK because the chicken was on the thick side and I like it thin. I also thought there should be a bit more sauce in the container it was in. I do remember that the other time I was there the chicken francaise was thick as well. Otherwise, the restaurant is fine as they have ample parking, though the spots are tight. In October or November 2025 my daughter-in-law booked Mamma Vittoria for May 17, 2026 to celebrate my son's 60th birthday and was given a price. In February 2026 she received an email stating that due to the time of year and demand, the price would have to be increased which came to an additional $700 for the party. Obviously my daughter-in-law cancelled. That then made it impossible to find another venue. This is no way to do business. read more

I will say this and be very short about it. The new ownership is a disappointment in all respect. I own a small business and have been going there for the past 10+ years holding my annual Christmas party and until this year I had never had any complaints my guest loved the facility, the food, the staff, and we always came back. But I will say that after last night's experience as someone who was born and raised in the town of Nutley, I would not go near that place ever again. I won't go into great detail, but I don't recommend anyone to use that facility for their family, business or personal events ever. This new ownership is terrible. I ordered from here for a small event I was having at home. I ordered three half trays, one chicken, one salad and one pasta. The food was really good and everyone enjoyed it! I think $45 for a Caesar salad half tray is excessive but the hot food was a hit and I think well worth the money. Easy to place an order and it was ready on short notice (thankfully). I recently was at this catering hall for a 50th Birthday party. The hall itself was very nice, and unexpectedly large. The staff was also wonderful. There was a buffet dinner served, as well as, some appetizers. The food was pretty good. All of the tables also had some family style appetizers. There was an event cake, and an endless supply of desserts, (which may have been supplied by the host.) The coffee at the end of the evening was also endless. We held our baby shower & my best friend suggested Mamma Vittoria because it had the space we needed for about 70-100 guests. We met with Nell, who was super nice & accommodating with all our needs. She was straight forward & we were able to tour the room right away. During the week of our baby shower we had spoken to Daniel, who was informative in terms of what we were allowed to do prior to the day of the baby shower. Even when there was an unexpected event that was booked the day before, Daniel informed us we could still drop off decorations & drinks so it would be less things to set up on the day of our baby shower. Only miscommunication was we couldn't drop off the cake the day before but that didn't matter since we were so grateful to even have all of our decorations left there. On the day of our baby shower, Laura (not sure if that's her name) was able to assist us in setting up our dessert table & mimosa bar as well as help cater to all our guests. She was very helpful & organized. She even helped set up our dessert table & provided us with additional trays we needed. She was even helpful in cleaning up & packing for us any left over food & desserts we had. I'd book another event here again since everyone was so helpful. My friends chose this Italian neighborhood restaurant for their child's 1st year bday party and things could not have gone smoother. The restaurant has a large banquet space for birthday parties, anniversaries or weddings. There were 8 tables which accommodated around 80 guests, we were served delicious food which consisted of pasta, chicken cacciatore, veal masala and the house french bread was wonderful! This was a classic Italian restaurant. Delicious food, great big portions and a hearty atmosphere. I went with a group of 7 and everyone was pleased by the food. Appetizer: I recommend the beet salad, calamari and the clam/mussel combo (came with a great white bean sauce). The bread they give you is amazing too. Entree: I had the Braciole (stuffed with salami and cheese) and came with gnocchi and 2 large delicious meatballs, i was so so impressed by the meatballs.....they were absolutely delicious. The stuffed sole was yummy, so were the pork medallions and crab pasta. Everything was just delicious. Great big portions. Amazing customer service and outstanding food. I had a small "Celebration of Life" for my mom here. The food selections were delicious and filling. I've been several times for dinner meetings. The space is nice and amply sized for a maximum of 100 people (just an estimate). The food is quite good, and the service is adequate. They offer valet parking and there is adequate street parking as well. They offer a variety of Italian staples, all tasty and properly prepared. Our guests had a wonderful time. We didn't meet the minimum of 50 guests so the restaurant wrapped up the leftovers for us to take home. Used Mamma Vittoria for an offsite meeting of about 30 people and everything was great. They delivered on time and in full! The set-up, presentation, and food were all excellent. Laura, who helped out throughout the day setting up and cleaning up, was very nice and helpful. Just came home from a fantastic Italian dinner at Mamma Vittoria. A cute Italian restaurant with a family feel. During the meal, I saw the manager (?) greeting people with hugs & first names. It must be a local favorite! And this place is BYOB, which I wish I had known. I could've brought a bottle of wine from home! Regardless, the food was so good that I didn't miss it at all. Dad ordered the Insalata Caprese appetizer, which we all tasted. Fresh basil, tomatoes, & mozzarella - always amazing. My mom bogarted the eggplant on the lettuce leaves, so I didn't get to try it. For my entree, I ordered the Variazioni di Scaloppine di Vitello, & chose Veal Marsala. The veal was cooked to perfection, the mushrooms were big, and the sauce was divine. The dish also came with a side of potatoes & steamed zucchini. YUM. Perfectly sized portions, too. My companions had two orders of Red Snapper, the night's fish special, and one order of Gamberi All'aglio e Limone (Shrimp Scampi). They loved it too! My dad mentioned that the fish was a bit spicy, but not overwhelmingly so. Everything was delicious. Let me tell you, between the four of us, not one morsel of food was left on our plates! For dessert, I had a Latte & shared a Lemon Sorbet. My dad split the Cheesecake with our friend. The sorbet is pictured on the menu inside a lemon, but unfortunately it is not served in one. (Who cares? I'm not trying to eat the lemon!) The sorbet was perfect. I love citrus, and it was tart and sweet without being overwhelming. My latte was served in a glass, which allowed them to have the craftsmanship of the drink on display! It also made it impossible for me to touch the glass for about 10 minutes (too hot!), but the drink was worth the wait. Throughout the meal, we enjoyed the musical stylings of one Mr. Angelo Basilone, who sang oldies & Italian classics all night. He was an unexpected, yet pleasant, addition to our evening. I think he mentioned that he sings there about once a month, so plan your dinner accordingly. And a sign by the door advertised his myspace page, so if that still exists, you could look him up. The street parking is a bit of a pain, but we were told that they were unusually busy because of a party. I found parking around the block. Service was good, ambiance was good, food was excellent. My husband and I celebrated our convalidation/marriage in the Catholic Church here, and it was a wonderful experience! The ambiance and food were both fantastic. The communication with and assistance from Mamma Vittoria was quick and easy, from choosing the details of the room in advance, to setting up the room while we were at the Church, to making the event run smoothly that evening. They can accommodate groups of more intimate or larger sizes, making the space look appropriate for your event. We hosted our son's baptism in the Duomo room a few weeks ago. The entire experience from start to finish was made easy, organized, and pleasant. Nella and her staff were so accommodating, and on the day-of Jason was beyond helpful! The food was served in a timely manner, and they were sure to continue restocking the alcohol table as needed. Can I give them 10 stars? I live in California, but most of my family is in New Jersey where I grew up. My best friend from high school recommended Mamma V's and we had our family reunion here last week. I made all the arrangements via email and/or phone. Working with Nella on the planning was amazingly simple. She's a total professional, has loads of experience with events, and was immediately responsive to all my inquiries. We are a large Italian family and we enjoy good Italian food. Everyone loved the buffet. Personally, I loved the Salmon Livornese and the Stuffed Pork Sorrentino. We also had the Rigatoni and the Chicken Francaise and everyone was totally pleased. The day of the reunion, Laura welcomed us and ran the event flawlessly. Nella and the staff of Mamma Vittoria were amazing from the start when we first wanted to explore the idea of having our rehearsal dinner there. We were (now are) getting married at Seton Hall University and found very few options in the close vicinity. This we found looking about 15-20 minutes from The South Orange Area. We went there for dinner on Friday to try everything and we left feeling as if we were in Italy and completely full! A year later, we returned to have our rehearsal with a large party. The staff was amazing and accommodating to a large group and the food was fresh and our guests were non stop saying how fantastic it was. The food at the buffet was excellent and plentiful, the space was very nicely decorated and more than adequate for the fifty guests we had, and the servers were very attentive. Throughout the coordination process, Nella was very polite and responsive in her emails, and was able to accommodate our requests, all for a very reasonable cost. When there are so many moving pieces to keep track of when planning a wedding, it is very meaningful and appreciated when things go off without a hitch.
