A visit back to Webster City for my dad's class reunion (Class of 58) brought us to AmericInn from…read moreConnecticut. The reviews were good, and the location was great, so we booked two rooms - one for my parents and one for my husband and I. Both rooms were immaculately clean and smelled really good - so important. The beds were comfortable, with a variety of pillows to choose from (I like a softer one, so this is huge to me!) Shower water pressure was fine - that's not a given, so it was appreciated. The breakfasts were great - we stayed for 4 nights and every morning, we found a nice variety every morning. The cookies at check in and every afternoon were a nice homey touch - I feel like I might have to start keeping a roll of Nestle chocolate chip cookie dough in my fridge from now on. The thing that made this place special, though, were the folks at the front desk. Every single one of them were the kindest, most friendly people. They were great talkers, great listeners, and they treated us (especially my elderly parents) like we were the most important guests at the hotel. It turns out that several of the reunion attendees were staying at AmericInn - I think everyone had the same experience of kindness and compassion. In a world that can be rough to navigate, these lovely people smoothed out a little piece of the journey for us, and there aren't enough good things to say about them. If you're visiting Iowa and want to truly experience midwestern hospitality, this is your place to stay.

Stayed there for work. Nothing super nice but it is cheap. You get what you pay for, and I think…read morethey are priced adequate for what it is. Ended up moving across to the other hotel in town and definitely a huge upgrade. If you're low on money and need somewhere to go, it's habitable. If you want a decent place to stay or if your company is looking to put you up somewhere, go across the street.

Honestly, I don't know how this hotel is still in business with current management…read more First off, some background. Myself, a friend of mine and my two kids were living there temporarily. We stayed there for three weeks. Moved out 1/29/2019 When we moved out, we made sure to take all of our stuff with us. There wasn't anything left, no pop cans, bottles, boxes, etc. We had some mail sent there and when I went to go pick up my friends mail on 2/4/2019, I had to peak into the hallway to find that Trudy, the manager, was cleaning rooms along with her husband, Frank. I just causally asked if my friend's mail had shown up. Trudy then tells me that she sent it back to the sender. She then continues by saying how we left the room a mess and they had been cleaning it for days. I honestly don't know how, but ok? Didn't know vacuuming carpet and doing the laundry for the bedding took multiple days. She kept on, saying "If I ever see you here again, I'll punch you in the face. I don't want to see you here again." All I said then was a simple "OK". I then turn around and walk away to leave. She then tells me "Don't be a smart a** with me, if I find out where you live..." and I interrupt her by saying "Have a good night" as I was walking away. She then proceeds to say "Shut the f*** up, fat a**!". Unless you want to deal with a manager with the maturity of a 6 year old girl, I'd stay far, far, far away from this place. Go to the Boulders Inn, it's just across the street and about a block east. Also, the WiFi sucks.

Can't believe in this day and age that people still install teacup size toilets. The toilet is comically small and hardly usable. The front desk people are not well educated in customer service. A stickler for rule following! We asked for two clean wash cloths after our room not being cleaned for two days per policy and were told we had to bring the two dirty ones down to the desk first. This is disgusting to say the least. Someone dumped a bunch of Bucky nuggets in the driveway and they weren't cleaned up for two days. Looked like stale orange chicken from a Chinese restaurant. No smoking hotel but we smelled weed on the second floor. We asked for a late checkout and were told to call the morning of our departure about it. Denied after they lied about being full-they weren't, we checked. I kind of knew there would be trouble when it was demanded I get the license plate number off my vehicle when I parked there. This is the first time anyone has made me do that for quite some time. Usually make and model of the car is enough. Really sad as the place has potential, but breakfast is subpar, they give you hardly any soap, and the overall feeling is that they would do anything to save a nickel. Someone needs to conduct a customer service training here!

They have a no smoking policy which we abided by we did not smoke in our room. We went outside and smoked in the smoking area. To our surprise 2 days later we were charged $250 their reason was because they found an EMPTY cigar package in our trashcan. We tried to dispute but they would not listen to our complaint. They had no evidence. We will not stay there again. I do not recommend it to you either. Beware!!

The decor in our room is super cute, with adorable duvets, a gorgeous orange desk chair and mirror (I'd buy both for my home, tbh), and lots of sensible storage. There are outlets for USB and USB-C charging, ample attractive lighting, and you have the option to close the opaque window shade, a sheer shade, or both. You even get your choice of a soft or firm pillow. The bathroom and mini fridge are immaculately clean. I can't recommend this place highly enough. I almost wish we were here for longer than one night, as it really is so nice. It's refreshing not to be grossed out by a hotel. The woman at the desk was friendly and efficient! I would definitely stay here again if I were passing through. I'm so impressed that I forgot to wait until morning so I can comment on breakfast. I'll do that tomorrow. After a gloriously hot shower with moderate water pressure, we're at breakfast. There is a great array of options. I'm having a banana, Oikos yogurt, and an egg white omelet (a circle of egg white and peppers folded in half--genius). My mom is eating her weight in bacon, a banana nut muffin, and a biscuit with sausage gravy. There is sausage, as well as a cheese omelet and a pancake machine. Lots of fruit, cereal, yogurt, bread/bagels, etc. If you're on Mason City, it's impossible to imagine a better option than this Holiday Inn Express. Found the flaw: Fox News on the breakfast room tv. :(
