In a day and age where too much effort and condfidence is given to what we read on the internet having a store like the Grow Room around is sooooo important. Im an avid gardner, ill put myself a few notches above average... I decided i wanted to begin an indoor grow room, a small one to keep all of my favorite things growing year round.. I did more then my fair share and learned a tremendous amount on the internet... Having researched everything from growing media options, lighting choices, nutrients and everything else that is grow related, i felt empowered but confused... I perhaps had too much information and trying to sort it all out on the internet was really just a continuous conflict. SO i stopped in to the grow room, where the owner Lindsey/lyndsey?? was an absolute breath of fresh air. As she and her store prepare to be more future and internet proof with plans to increase their on line presence (despite the fact that i saw the store mentioned so often in various blogs and sites), the presence of the brick and mortar store, and the flesh and blood of the owner were what really made the difference and set her apart from the hundreds of sites i could buy from. Being able to walk the store see and touch and SMELL the dirt the nutrients the vibe of growing was as satisfying as the concept of a grow your own future i was planning. One question led to another and like a saint of mother nature each question was not only answered but with intelligent options to lead me to the type of grow set up i might want... and of course each answer brought a slew of additional options and questions. Before i knew it hours had passed, i learned a lot, confirmed a lot and left far less confused then i was when i arrived. Note this store sells to as many if not more commercial growers yet the patience given to me was as if i was planning to open a huge farm not a small home grow set up. I left with a few products recommended to me to continue my test and learning stages i had started at home but also with a clear understanding of what i would need once i had determined my final direction and goals. Lindsey honestly could have sent me home with far more then she recommended for my first outing... and a 20 minute drive ( by the way i forgot how incredibly charming Nyack is) isn't exactly around the corner but she knew she had won me over and id be back. PRODUCTS, ultimately just about every "best of"product that i read about through the course of my research was on the shelves of this store, but more important was the education and clear understanding of why some are indeed the best for various grow set ups and other are perhaps not for me. Lindsey sent me home with a lot of homework, websites and brochures to read over to help make my decision and while many might take th e info and look to say a buck here and threre and shop on line the experience and confident exuded here will have me happily back as i begin my purchases, and likely subsequent upgrades as i go overboard like i tend to do... I far too often leave experts of most fields frustrated that i had already gained an equal amount if not more info then they had by the time i met them... but i can say few that venture in won't benefit from a few minutes or hours in lindsey presence, her knowledge and desire to share it, her bright sparkle and exuberance to educate and help and hopefully eventually sell you what you need to be successful and proud of your accomplishments is so evident... after all what feels worse then a lot of work ending i a dead plant or underwhelming garden... I've been there.. and the flip side it feels so great to grow your own and share with friends... im confident with the grow room as my source and Lindsey to lean on ill be a successful new indoor farmer....
