I forgot to ask for the name of the extremely nice guy who helped me out, but despite telling me when I walked in that I might know more than him, he was so helpful in showing me orchids that fit my collection of beautiful little freaks. The orchids all looked healthy and thriving, and I could have spent hours and more money than I have in there, but I am extremely happy with the choices I made! I'll also add, he asked specific questions about my home setup, and went out of his way to make sure I was choosing orchids that would do well in my particular environment, rather than just trying to sell me whatever he could, which I really appreciated! read more

COVID did not seem to delay or impact my order as the order was placed online on Wed. 3/2021, confirmed on Fri, shipped on Mon (to keep orchids healthy and beautiful during shipping) and received before noon the next day, on Tues. Less than a week for the entire process- during winter!! These folks went over and above to ensure excellent customer service, including a generous surprise in the package. These are WELL TAKEN CARE OF orchids, that beat out regular garden center/nursery prices, that live in a greenhouse with optimal growing conditions. For $12 you can buy a single stem miniature Phalaenopsis that's FULL of beautiful firm leaves, blooming flowers, and thick luscious root systems, bug and PEST free. Insanely beautiful orchids that last longer than any other flowers I've ever owned at VERY affordable prices. I personally have never had a good track record of keeping any types of plants alive for longer than a few weeks. And these orchids last for SIX MONTHS. I'm blown away and have no clue why anyone would spend any money on Trader Joe orchids that don't look as nice, have half as many flowers and die within two months. Here you can pay the same amount, and choose from an array of orchids you've never even seen before that actually last an incredible amount of time. Bonus: they are experts with plants here. Just last week I witnessed a lady come in with a tray full of her other dying plants and watched as the owners spent several minutes patiently explaining what was wrong and what the plants needed. Just by looking at the leaves they could tell if it was too much water, sun or just needed what type of fertilizer. read more

If you are looking for exotic orchids, this is the place to go. It is a new business and I originally was going to take a look at the Nabel's Nursery -- only to find out that the nursery had closed for 4 years. And the parking lot is not well take care of, almost looks deserted. I hesitated in the parking lot wondering if there is anyone around initially ... But after I went in and see the orchid collection, my goodness they really have a great collection that I cannot find within 50 miles! Only when I was in California did I see such a great collection. I asked the girl to show me some orchids with fragrance, and she immediately recommended two and the smell of one of them is heavenly. The girl clearly knows her plants. The price was also very affordable. She also gave me some recommendations about how to take care of these special plants, because they are clearly not the usual time and she told me that they need more water. The girl told me that they were originally doing wholesale and only recently started to do some retail. Clearly, had they know how to make the shop more fancy and modern looking, they would have a lot more businesses. On the other hand, the prices of those exotic plants probably would not be so affordable :). For fancy and usually orchid lovers, I would strongly recommend this place. It is still a diamond in the rough in terms of a business. But what I really care about is plants, and I cannot find such great plants elsewhere, not even in the New York botanic garden's gift shop. read more

Drove from Suffolk County (Long Island) to shop for Orchids and the man who was there was bothered when I asked questions. I asked about an orchid and its color and he answered "what more do you want?" I also asked about the care of an orchid that I was purchasing and he said "I'm not coming to your home to know the conditions where the orchid will live" and last but not least, some orchids had a price sticker of $60 and he said, no they are $80 while the stickers were clearly stuck on them. He has no manners and should not be running a business that customers might have a question to ask. I did purchase two orchids $60 each from the place since I had never seen them anywhere else, but will definitely not be recommending nor going back ever. read more

My new favorite place! Looks unassuming from the road but once you get inside be prepared to be blown away by the sheer volume and variety of orchids. I have been looking for a place that exclusively sells orchids and this is is a hidden gem. These are obviously grown with love and care. Was quickly greeted by Eric who is the orchid whisperer. He helped us pick out the best orchids for the kind of care we were able to give them. Wasn't there to make a quick sale, truly wanted us to be able to handle our plants properly. You can tell he and the others that work there are dedicated to what they do and want their "babies" to survive outside their care. We bought three beautiful plants and I will be back for more! First impressions are everything especially when you are a new business. So I curiously went to see what this place was all about. Wow! Absolutely GORGEOUS. So I decided to ask a question about delivery and the product in general. The girl behind the counter and the women in the place basically laughed at me when I asked an orchid related question that apparently was inferior to their godly orchid beings. White Plains Orchids is an outstanding place. I came here for the first time in May and have been a repeat customer and sometimes go several times a month to purchase orchids for my collection. The store provides orchids for various different types of consumer, both wholesale and individuals. I myself buy orchids for my personal collection here and there is no shortage of collector's varieties (i.e Dendrobiums, Bulbophyllums, Angraecums, Cattleyas, Paphs and More!). The collection stock also changes often enough that one can always find something new. Every orchid I have purchased is still in terrific shape several months later. I have also seen the store sell orchids to offices and weddings. The store stocks various patterns of phalaenopsis orchids for this purpose. The shop owners are also some of the nicest people I have met. I would recommend this shop to anyone who has an interest in orchids and even those who don't (yet) as going to the store may ignite a passion for the plants. read more
