In January 2023, I was in a devastating car accident that left me with a broken back, a crushed hip, a broken arm, and numerous other injuries. I spent four months in a recovery home, and because my initial hip repair failed, the hardware had to be removed. I then spent 11 months in a wheelchair with no hip joint at all. In November 2023, I finally received a new hip replacement and immediately set my sights on walking again. I had one very important goal: to be able to fully enjoy a pre-planned month-long family trip to Thailand in December 2024. I'd known Shawn, the General Manager, for a few years because we worked in the same shopping center and had always encouraged me to join. Whenever I needed help at my store, he never hesitated to lend a hand. So when it was finally time to begin rebuilding my body, he was the first person I called. When I started training with Shawn, I had only recently progressed from a wheelchair to a walker, and then to a cane. Even with the cane, I was still very unsteady. Shawn met me exactly where I was. His knowledge, experience, and ability to tailor any workout for my limitations gave me confidence that I could recover. Just as important was his personality. His enthusiasm is contagious, and somehow he makes you actually look forward to working out. Time flew during these sessions because he made the process enjoyable while constantly pushing me to improve. Shawn has created a gym that is clean, welcoming, and feels more like a family than a fitness center. It's an environment where people genuinely want to be, and that made showing up consistently so much easier. Before I knew it, I no longer needed my cane. By Christmas 2024, I was doing things I once thought might never be possible again. I managed my own overpacked luggage through the airports in Tijuana, China, and Beijing. I kept up with my family as we walked everywhere throughout Thailand. I even dove off the side of a boat into the Red Sea. Less than two years after spending 11 months in a wheelchair with no hip joint, I was living the trip of a lifetime. That transformation didn't happen by accident. It happened because of hard work, expert guidance, and Shawn's unwavering belief that I could get there. Shawn has been a personal trainer for many years, and it shows. Was in town and decided to check out this location of TG. Was greeted and assisted by Jen at the front who helped set me up with a day pass. (price at $15) System was acting a little slow, so I signed in via paper. (s/o Jen dealing with the technical difficulties! I know some people can project some negative mojo, but girllll, you don't ever have to apologize for anything that isn't your fault! ie. tech lag.) She gave me a tour and run down of the area, and even let me know a bit of background and how this place used to be Ramona Fitness and how working with TG has allowed for better membership pricing. I asked about rush hours and I did arrive at 4PM, so she let me know that there is around 5, people trickle in and 6-7 it peaks at about there. To be expected since people get off work! She also let me know that teenagers do come in, which I am a bit used to experiencing at commercial gyms. Towards the end of my workout, the teens started coming in. Overall their presence wasn't bad. I think if this is something that is an issue, it's not the workers at fault, and any issues with how they behave can be mitigated/addressed. Like if I saw an issue, I would personally address them, they should be spoken to as you would anyone else, then let higher ups know if they refuse to be mindful. Would come back here again when in the area! Equipment is solid, I love how they have MAG attachments for cable machines. I like how there's a separate area to deadlift from the squat racks. There's a plethora of weighted barbells. And I do like the selection of machines as well! Equipment is kept clean, gym goers are nice, and wiped down their equipment. Customer service is great. The workers were sweet. Gym is well maintained. YA AGAIN JEN! multitasking queen was cleaning as well as being a great host! small side note, this is a smaller location compared to TG Chula or TG vista. but if you knkw what you're here to do, it's easy to navigate the gym and do what you're set out to do. read more

Let me start off by saying this is a good gym. However, if you do decide to become a member you should know that in the evenings the gym is overrun by teenagers. These teenagers are generally respectful but are annoying as all heck. A whole gaggle of them with park in one spot and treat it as social hour and pretty much lock down the entire corner for the duration of your workout. I have literally seen kids climbing on the equipment, rough housing, pushing each other down, sparing in the training rooms and taking 19 minutes in between sets to make their rounds and BS with all their friends. While I appreciate that said teenagers are not running the streets I would prefer an adult environment. The wife and I cannot decide if we like TG or not. We will not be be renewing but as with all things...this may change. The staff is great the gym is clean...there are lots of equipment options it's just a constant struggle to get in and get out. read more

Best gym I've ever been to! All the employees are super friendly and helpful, the owner Peter is such a nice guy and the place is kept pretty much spotless. The gym is great but my main review is on Peter. Peter has taken me on a client for him to personally train and let me just say after trying a few different trainers down the hill none can compare to Peter. He sat down with me and discussed my goals and put together a training regimen that works for me, to help me achieve my goal! He is more a partner then a trainer he guides and coaches for form at every step of the process! He is there to push me at places I would have normally quit and challenges me daily to be better! He constantly is paying attention to me and my work out ( trainers down the hill we're on the phone and not paying attention to me or my needs) his knowledge of body mechanics and muscle usage is amazing and he freely shares this knowledge with me. I would just like to say that if you ever need a great, motivating trainer I cannot more highly recommend Peter. read more

I have been a member of this gym for a few years now. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. They offer many different training options, educational classes and fitness groups/classes. They have Spa services as well. I put my kids in the child care room in the mornings. They love it in there! Sometimes they do a craft with them and play games. The people that are in there are always great! They don't change diapers and there is a 1.5hour cap on the time they can be in there. Their equipment and rooms are usually very well taken care of and clean. All of the treadmills, electric bikes & elliptical machines have TV's on them - you can even watch your kids in the child care room while you work out! They recently spent 200k on replacing a lot of their machines with newer, more user friendly ones. My chief complaint is that the membership, child care, & some services are quite pricey - but they are they ONLY full gym in town. So, unless you want to drive 20-30 minutes to go to the gym this is your only real option. That being said, I am still a member :) read more

I love this great local gym. All the staff are wonderful. This gym has all the equipment you need for full body workout.

This place is absolutely amazing to say the least. I love powerlifting, has everything I need and more (which if you are a powerlifter is a big deal)... The daycare is PHENOMINAL, best one I have ever taken my son to. The daycare attendant actually engages with the kids and my son loves walking in to see her. The staff overall is a delight, they are super nice and helpful. I even got an ice cold electrolyte sample mid workout, I didnt even know that was a thing! I am going to start the yoga classes soon, but from what I have seen of the classes they all look fun and challenging. The smoothies are to die for in my opinion, I love trying different protein shakes. They have a huge selection of that and many products, especially if you are a plant based dieter. I have to mention that the deadlift platform is ESPECIALLY my favorite! I could go on for hours, I love it here. No complaints whatsoever. read more

We arrived st this one and were not greeted or acknowledged in any way, the counter person was doing something... not sure what. After standing there for almost 5 full minutes we decided that this was not the place for us. I had been a member of this gym previously for a year. Decent enough gym with an adequate amount of equipment. $49 a month is reasonable considering there isn't any competition with the exception of Crossfit, but I do not consider them the same kind of gym. After I had been there for about 7 months, it became more convenient to work out at school. I paid off the remaining 5 month contract, even though when I had signed up the girl told me it was not a big deal to break the contract. I had explained my dislike of contracts before signing up and the girl who did my paperwork told me that they are a "small town gym" that doesn't lock you into things like other popular gyms. I have been with other "popular" gyms and have never had to sign a contract. When I spoke with Nikki about my situation she was pretty firm on the contract so I paid the rest of it out right. I signed it, I paid it, however I do not like being mislead. Even though I wasn't happy about that part of the experience, it was still a decent place. I told Nikki that I may want to come back and restart my membership at a later time and inquired if I would have to sign another contract or could I go month to month. She assured me that since I had already completed a year contract that I could come back anytime and go month to month. Fast forward about a year, I want to start working out there again as it would be more convenient. I went by the gym and asked for Nikki, but the girl at the front desk said she no longer worked there and she was now the manager. I explained my previous dealings with Nikki and said I wanted to start my membership again. She told me that I would have to sign another contract. I explained that I had already completed a year contract and was told I could come back anytime and go month to month. She replied that it may be an option, but she would have to talk to Peter. My number was on file and I was told to expect a phone call in the next few days. A week goes by and no word. I call her and she says she still has no answer because Peter is on vacation. Ok, another week goes by.....Peter is still on vacation. I think to myself it must be a good vacation! A month goes by, he is still on vacation lol! However, I guess she has talked to Nikki! I thought she didn't work there anymore. Turns out, even though she said she had to ask Peter which has not happened due to a long vacation, I have to sign another contract if I want to work out there. It's been a long winded review! Ultimately I wanted Yelpers to be aware that the "management" will tell you one thing to get you to buy a membership and then act another way. It seems to have become a main stay in business lately for management to blame employees for being misinformed thus making it impossible for the company to comply with commitments made by them. It's easy to let subordinates state what policies the business has and then stonewall you later. However, your employees REPRESENT your business! Them telling you what to expect is the same as management or the owner saying it to you. Thanks for all the help RFC, it was great lol! read more

Definitely happy with this facility. There are certainly nicer, bigger gyms but in Ramona there isn't a lot to choose from. But I feel they've done a good job with what they have. The staff has always been really helpful and friendly to me. I will say the price leaves a little to be desired, and if you want Fuel class access it's twice as much which I'm not a fan of. But I also know that most Crossfit gyms are more so that's ok. Overall pleased. If you're willing to pay a little more for convenience of location then it's definitely worth it. read more

I love this gym! My mom and I recently started going together and the staff and owner are incredibly friendly people. They went above and beyond to accommodate both my mom and I. It's hardly ever crowded which is a huge plus for us and they offer all kinds of classes and training. The smoothie bar downstairs is amazing too! Perfect way to end your workout with a protein shake. They sell cute clothes and other gym supplies as well. For me, this gym offers everything I could ever want. They even have spa services! The prices are steeper compared to other gyms, but for my mom and I, it is well worth it and I think you get more for the price. I'd choose this over a commercial gym like 24 hr fitness any day. read more

Gym is nice. I've been coming here for over a year. I was cancelling my membership, and I was so looked down upon. The lady on the phone was so rude to me. I dont even kno her name, just her face. An older lady with red hair. She was pushing me to tell her why I was cancelling it. First of all, it's none of your business. If I want to cancel, I have MY right to do so. Especially if my contract is up. And I have to come in to give a statement as to why I'm cancelling? Uh, no. She was rude from the get go. She totally ruined my experience at this gym. I had to go in to give a "written statement" as to why I'm cancelling and she was SO MUCH MORE pleasant in person !! Lmao. SIKE. Pick up on the sarcasm. She was worse. Didnt even say hi. Made it seem like I was bothering HER. LOL there was no one there ! 3 people standing around. She is just such an unpleasant person and was being unpleasant in front of a new hire. Lol. Wow. Very unprofessional person. Also. I was put on hold for 10 to 15 min on the phone first calling in. Picks back up and is even more rude. Enjoyed this gym during my two week trial, however, membership prices seem to be a bit steep considering my old Gold's gym membership only charges $15/mo. They did offer me a couple bucks off discount if I brought in another potential member. But considering that I have access to "state of the art gyms" (cough) aboard MCAS Miramar, MCRD San Diego, Naval Medical Center San Diego, I don't think its worth it. I came here strictly because it was so convenient since its just a couple blocks away and I didn't think there would be a gym in Ramona. For a gym in Ramona, I was fairly impressed with the gym. They've got their own smoothie bar, supplies of supplements, a daycare, cardio machines, massage rooms, a well kept clean bathroom and locker rooms, punching bags, and a decent variety of exercise machines and free weights. Parking is fairly easy, it gets pretty crowded during hours when everyone is just getting off work/school or before hours. Not so bad if you get there at 5-6am. The staff are very friendly as well no grumpy douchebag bodybuilder behind the counter counting down the hours to seek his own time to workout as with other gyms. I would highly recommend this gym for anyone that lives in Ramona but the prices have not convinced me to stick around for membership. Crossfit would be more expensive ($70+). read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this gym, its staff and owner. Everything is kept extremely clean and sanitized, they even have individual sanitizing bottles for each member to use. Everyone is very friendly and outgoing. They keep the capacity down, sometimes I feel like I have my own private gym which is a nice change from working out at an overcrowded corporate gym. I love it here (and not just because I work here!) My family chose RFC for the childcare and stayed because of the good family environment. Everyone knows your name and is happy to see you. The personal trainers and fuel classes are fantastic and really keep you motivated to get in shape. My favorite class is Zumba! Ramona fitness also has a Massage Therapist on staff, an Acupuncturist Doctor (me!), spray tan services, a tanning bed, hydro massage, and protein smoothies! There are even kids fitness classes to help your child gain confidence in the gym (which is something I wish I had growing up)! You won't regret your membership! read more

PSA : A few weeks ago I posted about wanting a change of atmosphere to where I train, this resulted in the ramonafitness gym owner petersannicolas to call me on the phone and call me derogatory remarks such as a punk, and tell me how he was supposedly a better person than me because he was given a gym at a young age to own whereas I chose the path to serve my country. After continued harassment, moments ago I canceled my wife's membership. At such time the owner was continuing to be disrespectful, call me a punk again, and then tell me to shut up while i was mid sentence because i said there was poor ownership. It speaks volumes when masses of people are willing to drive the 40 minutes to a different gym because of the toxic environment that has been cultivated. I'd steer clear san diego. *the only reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is because for the most part, his employees (minus 1 or 2 specific people) have always been great. The trainers there are incredibly nice and knowledgeable. It's unfortunate that the ownership did not reflect the same views as his staff. read more

Lacks half the things from a normal gym, but costs over twice a month. I switched to LA fitness and pay 20 a month and now have access anything I'd find at Ramona fitness center, plus access to twice as many machines, way more equipment, a pool, and I even have to option to go tanning (not that I would). They're obviously exploiting the fact that they are really the only gym in Ramona by ripping people off (50 dollars a month at Ramona fitness center). read more

OK, I'm amending my review. My biggest beef is parking. If you come when there is a popular class you will not find parking. My favorite is to come on Sundays as it's really quiet and I don't have to worry about parking or waiting for any equipment. It is a smaller gym but is kept clean and has nice equipment. read more
