Walking down Main street on a cool, post July 4th morning, this was one of the few shops open so we stopped in to ask if they had a cowboy shirt with a flag motif. You know, shoulder yoke with matching cuffs and pocket flaps (blue with white stars), body of red and white stripes, pearl snap buttons. I had one years ago, it was made by Dee Cee for The Bicentennial. A few years earlier, you could get arrested for wearing parts of the flag on your clothes but, The War was over, the Draft had ended and even country musicians had long hair and smoked dope so a shirt like that was part of the failed Great Reconciliation. I asked if they had a flag shirt, the salesman said no, they didn't have one but he would be happy to look in the catalogs or even find out about having one made. I thanked him and started looking through the racks and ...Whoa!, What have we got here? A Flag Shirt!! Not a classic cowboy style from way back in the 20th Century but still; made by Roper (respected name in Western Wear), 100% cotton, denim collar AND a good fit. I know what I'll be wearing next July 4th, Flag Day, Memorial Day, USA vs anyone in the World Cup Day. Now, did he offer 10% off for not knowing that he had what I was looking for and making me find it? Nooo (-1 star)!! Other than that, I'm a big fan!

They had everything from clogs and Birkenstocks to stylish dressy sandals. I also appreciated that the woman working the counter gave me time and space to peruse everything. Funny enough, the thing that first brought me into the store was their large display of huckleberry food items in the window for sale - I'm a sucker for food souvenirs. The shoes are pricey but they are on par with the brands and quality that is being offered.

Regarding the "other customers" who responded: The only people in the store during my visit were me and one couple. I waited some time before approaching the saleswoman, as I didn't want to interrupt what I assumed was a transaction. But I noticed there were no shoes out, and the three were simply chatting. That's when I realized they were friends, not customers. When I expressed interest in trying on shoes, the saleswoman seemed reluctant but retrieved a pair and left them on the counter. When I brought up a second pair, she went to the back again. It was during this time--while trying on shoes and waiting--that I noticed the tone of the radio, which surprised me. I clearly recall the man smiling and saying, "We enjoy it," when I reacted. The saleswoman's back was to me throughout. Her reaction as I describe it is true to my memory. 2. About my reviewing style: I'm not someone who writes critical reviews lightly. In fact, you can check my profile--until this experience, I had only ever written 5-star reviews. I genuinely enjoy supporting local businesses and was simply looking for a pleasant afternoon and a new pair of shoes. 3. Why I'm responding: This will be my final word on the matter. I didn't expect this kind of response to my review, but that's okay. I still left with a sense of clarity, and I'm glad I found a welcoming store elsewhere--with music, kind conversation, and great shoes.

Have a seat - we aren't candy coating anything in this review. Comfortable shoes, even the pretty ones, often edge pretty but never quite make it. That's fine - if you are willing to sacrifice style. A lot of women are not willing to do that. I used to be one of those women. You can easily see the caliber of heels I adore wearing by spying my past photos. Price be damned - if they are designer and force me to teeter on thin stilettos, I have them. Having said that, I have leaned to also counterbalance this footwear torture act with conservative, sensible shoes that aren't plain. Sometimes you have to make tough choices in life. Don't laugh - this is a real thing. I usually get my sensible footwear from Comfortable Shoes in Burlingame or San Carlos. Sure, it isn't as fancy as Neiman Marcus but it does help me get through a day of work. Walking all day when I am on vacation. Not being restricted by what I can do or where I can go because of what I am wearing on my feet. This adorable boutique featured comfort shoes that I wouldn't guess were. They have a lot of stylish offerings that I've never seen in my usual comfy shoe haunts. The service I received was attentive, non-rushed, and really helpful. I love the sandals I bought. I logged my usual 10,000 steps a day when I was in Seattle immediately after buying those sandals because I was unencumbered by stylish heels that aren't meant for city walking. I felt comfortable walking in my sandals. My cute sandals garnered so many compliments. I looked pretty in my sandals whether I wore slacks or dresses. I still met my daily walk goal without blisters or corns. I love this shop. The service is great, my shoes are super cute, and the money was well spent. Go. Browse. Do yourself a favor - have cute comfy shoes that aren't sneakers to ensure you, too, can enjoy looking stylish while enjoying walks. Your body will thank you for it. Walking comfortably is good. I'll be back. I had to decide between 2 different pairs of shoes which one to get. I'm getting the other ones. You love me for it and I love you back.

The customer service was also amazing, so friendly and made me feel so welcome! I was a little worried if I would find something in my size, my body has grown a bit over the last year and I hadn't treated myself to much new clothing since.. they carried a top here that I fell in LOVE with and flattered my body type perfectly. I shared this with the gal working and she was such a sweetheart and so happy that they could do that for me. This really is already a new favorite place of mine that is definitely worth stopping by! Shopping here recently was a top notch experience for excellent service from the people who work there and quality brands in a range of styles of shoes, sandals and boots in many sizes, including narrow and wide widths, for women and men. On a busy Wednesday afternoon every customer was promptly greeted and seemed to get the same quality care and attention from the knowledgeable staff who could make recommendations as well as help customers try on their choices from the many casual - comfort brands that included Hoka, Josef Siebel, Born, Taos, Ecco, Keen, SAS (San Antonio Shoemaker), Dansko and others. . When some customers needed a different size or color than what was available in this location's inventory, I could hear the staff offer to have it brought in from the downtown store or arrange for the shoe to be held at the downtown location if trying it there was what the customer wanted to do. My husband and I walked in expecting to spend a few minutes to get my feet measured and see if I could find a pair of shoes and we were both surprised to find such a large, well displayed inventory in the larger than expected light and bright space. We walked out more than an hour later with five pairs of shoes, three mine and two his, that are both comfortable and fun to wear. STELLAR SERVICE: Store manager Stephanie was professional and patient as she assisted me to try on probably a dozen pairs of shoes (in most places I am lucky if I can find one that will work for me) and another woman and a man who were also working on a busy Wednesday afternoon helped my husband. Everyone was knowledgeable about brands, fit and styles to make recommendations for both of us. That is particularly valued by me as I have hard to fit feet and also have had multiple sclerosis since my college years which makes balance and gait a problem so the right shoes are key. This was like shopping in Nordstrom for shoes in the day when I lived near those stores for skilled sales professionals who knew their product lines and understand feet too. This kind of skill and service is how customer loyalty is grown. CONVENIENT PARKING LOT: We lived in Bend for almost 20 years and shopped the downtown Birkenstock store from time to time but popping into this store on a recent visit to Bend was our first time at this location which we chose because downtown parking is miserable and this store location offers a convenient to use parking lot. Next time we are in town we will have shopping at this Eastside location on our "to do" list again. We recommend the store. ACCESSIBILITY: Accessible parking is in the lot right outside the door. All on one floor with ample clear floor space to navigate to displays and seating to try on. HOW TO FIND IT: Map and contact info to confirm this location can be found here: www.bendshoeco.com/locations/eastside-forum-shopping-center/
