I recently chopped my hair and wanted it cleaned up but he suggested we try going slightly shorter based on my "hair goals" and the current texture. Richie is a living hair god. I always feel like a new person whenever I leave his chair. He's been the only person who can tame my insanely thick frizzy hair for years. This was my first visit since COVID -- I felt extremely safe, they gave sanitizer and temperature checks at the door, chairs spread far apart, it wasn't crowded,and the salon was spotless (as it always is). Christie did a beautiful job with my color and cut - she was very knowledgeable and did a very thorough color consultation with me; she listened when I told her I often wear my hair up and made sure all my layers can be pulled away from my face. All the staff were courteous, friendly, and warm - Richie the owner is SO nice and friendly (also, se habla español) - I was offered refreshments multiple times, though I declined. This review is way overdue, but better late than never. Richie began cutting my daughter's hair at a different location years ago and he did such a beautiful job on hers, I asked him to start cutting mine. When my mother saw the job he did on my hair, she asked him to start cutting hers. We all followed him to the Hair Lab when it opened. Our hair is all very different: My daughter gets a short bob (thick, fine hair), I have long wavy layers (thick hair) and my mother's hair is very curly and short. His cuts are precise and gorgeous, and he leaves you with hair you can style on your own rather than a cut that is fabulous the day you leave the salon but never looks quite right again. I'm terrible about making regular appointments, but my hair (and my daughter's) grows in beautifully with his cuts so we get away with it longer than we should. I had my first haircut today since the onset of COVID and was beyond pleased with the precautions being taken for the safety of customers and staff. Appointments and masks are both required, and my temperature was taken upon entering the front door with a contact-free thermometer. After clearing that I didn't have a fever, I was given hand sanitizer and Richie worked his magic. Each staff member is wearing a face mask as well as glasses and a face shield and payment was handled via the card I have on file. Safety is clearly a priority and the steps did not impede my ability to enjoy the experience. I will not hesitate to bring my child in for a trim. read more

I chose this salon based on the rave reviews. I had a short bob that was heavy and needed to be lightened up. Ritchie and I talked about cutting into the top layers to create movement and a shattered effect and I agreed. We also discussed not taking too much off and he agreed. He cut my hair dry so no shampoo. He didn't section it or brush it. He cut into the top half of my hair with thinning shears over the same places repeatedly for about 30 minutes. Then curled that part with a flat iron and never even touched the bottom. The result is a mullet with side burns that resembles a cone head helmet. Now my hair is short on top, still has no movement and is so butchered in places that its sticking up. It looks like a novice art experiment. I was just looking for a good haircut and now, I'm just sad because it doesn't look good and it feels even worse. When the receptionist is wearing a wig and the owner has on a hat, that should have been all the info I needed. read more

I wish there was a way to give more than 5 stars. Christy is my regular stylist and I've been to Eric for cut and Jess for color as well and they're all incredible! Reasonably priced, accommodating, great environment, family feel. Most importantly, just today Eric was able to accommodate my 5 yr old nephew with special needs (Sensory Processing Disorder). He's always been averse to salons - clippers, blow dryers, TV, music, chatter - it's too much for him. Eric was able to fit him in during a time no one else would be there and provide a soothing one on one environment for him. they talked about dinosaurs and marveled at all the cool scissors. This is a great new hot spot for the hip and hot crowd. I have known Rich Gonzalez aka @DryCutterat90Degrees, since he was a student at a salon in Greenwich I went to for years. Rich has gone from Assistant to Owner within about seven years which is impressive. The salon has a great vibe with friendly staff and a family like atmosphere. On one side it is a graffitied wall and the other a zen like wood wall with plants that you see in the mirror behind you of the four chair salon. Rich has selected the best of the best talent to bring with him, including a full service barber. Parking is no problem and prices are reasonable. Every stylist is superb; you cannot go wrong no matter who you see. This is the best kept secret in East Norwalk. Rich and Crew congratulations and much luck in the future. What a way to end 2020!!! I got an amazing haircut from Richie on 12/31. I was in search of a new hairdresser so I followed the reviews on Yelp and Facebook. The reviews for Richie were all 100% positive so my cousin and I made an appointment. We both walked out of the salon feeling like brand new people. Richie shaped my hair to frame my face with just the right layers and length. The cut was stylish and perfect! I have thick heavy hair which was weighing me down. After Richie worked his magic, my hair feels manageable, light, and precise. I am beyond pleased with Richie's work. I highly highly recommend Richie. The salon adheres to safety measures (masks, partitions, chairs are spaced out, temperature is taken at the door, and hand sanitizer is administered upon entering the door).
