What bizarre comments people have about the prices here. Have they been going to Supercuts prior, or something? The prices are completely in line with nice salons across the country. Bottom line. I moved from NYC 5 years ago and have struggled to find a salon with talented stylists that keep up with trends. I finally found that in Pure Salon! I have thick straight hair and I'm very particular about how it is cut. I prefer it to be thinned out with a razor, which I've found a lot of stylists don't know how to do well. The owner, Charmaine, was able to deliver exactly what I was looking for. She listened to what I wanted and gave great suggestions based on her expertise. Not only is she an amazing stylist, she's a smart business woman and a joy to talk to. Everyone at the salon I've encountered has been wonderful. I've been very pleased with all the haircuts and colors I've received. I could not recommend this place more, do not hesitate to give it a try. read more

Love Studio On Main. I see Amy for blonde highlights and Flora for a haircut every 8-ish weeks and always walk out feeling great. It's a friendly, relaxed, not too noisy atmosphere. Jackie has been my go-to stylist for over a year. She is absolutely fabulous, and I have always been happy with my trims. But today she pulled off a miracle when I asked her to mimic a charcoal silver balayage treatment on my dark, dark brown hair - and she pulled it off perfectly! I cannot recommend her talents enough. I got a Groupon for this salon so I decided to give it a try. I am a working professional from Milford, CT and I thought that 150 for a Keratin smoothing treatment was a little pricey, even for a Groupon. Alas, the salon was in Westport, so I expected to have to pay a little more than usual. The salon itself is in a very nice location with pretty views. The junior stylist who did my keratin, John, was very nice and professional. While I haven't washed my hair out yet, I'm hoping for good results. Here are the problems I had with my experience. First of all, I asked John how much formaldehyde was in the product he used. His answer was, "Less than three percent." Now couldn't that technically be anything 0, 1,2 percent? I felt a little uncomfortable with the vague answer. Second or all, John had to stop tending to my treatment at one point; one of their regulars came in unannounced and the salon decided to bend their arrangements for her. I'm sorry, but if I am paying 150 plus tip, don't leave me with your floor sweeper to dry my hair. That's rude. The overall vibe of the salon is intimidating- even if you are upper middle class like myself. It is clearly priced for very wealthy clientele. The elderly receptionist with platinum hair was very cold and couldn't force a smile out of herself. They don't take tips through debit cards (is this normal?) and their ATM was out of money, so I actually had to mail John a tip. He was really good about the whole thing! The receptionist, however, made me feel like a total jerk. Overall, the salon probably has some good talents but its way too "high brow" and the prices are really beyond ridiculous. Regularly, a keratin treatment is 350. Cuts start at 95 and go up to 200. If you really have 200 dollars to burn, get a 75 dollar haircut at a reputable salon and give the rest to a charity or something! :) read more

Terribly rude and arrogant salon. I walked in and stood there with 5 people staring at me. I finally spoke up and said good morning I have a 9am appointment. They didn't say anything so I went to sit down. When they brought me back Aphrodite was very intimidating and rude. She said maybe 2 things to me the ENTIRE time I was there. After she put my highlights in, I sat while they set. Someone else came over and said she was going to wash my hair (ok that's normal for an upscale salon). She did her thing with the glaze and such and asked if I was getting a blowdry. I replied yes I scheduled one. You would have thought I was asking for their first born child. Although they were very rude, my highlights and blowout came out great. read more

I started going here while I was living out of my parents home in CT awaiting my lease to start in NYC. At the time it was summer and I finally wanted to take the plunge and go blonde. I got assigned to Amy Paige and we set a course of action to get my hair to the lightness I wanted and I have been seeing her ever since (and he's that does mean I am tracking all the way from the lower east side to Westport Connecticut to get my hair done). Her coloring is detail oriented and extremely natural looking. She is very careful so my hair was never damaged in the process and is as healthy as it ever was. I would highly recommend her. My one qualm with this place is the costs. I think their costs for cut and color or reasonable but if you want your hair blow dried after the fact you will have to fork over $60. Many other places include this service. It would be nice if they could even discount this service for people getting other things done. Recently they put in a self serve blow dry bar which I appreciate because it means at least you do not have to leave there with soaking wet hair if you opt out of a additional $60 dolor charge. The space here is stunning-- overlooking downtown Westport. It's a huge loft space. They offer you coffee, tea or water while you are being serviced. Their specified hair wash people give amazing scalp massages. Keep in mind tips here are cash! read more

Great salon- great location. Very nice ambiance, and everything is new and very well kept up. I've been hopping from salon to salon in the Fairfield area for quite awhile now. I used to work in NYC, and I had a lot of very good hairstylists I'd see on a regular basis- but it got hard to find someone when I changed jobs back to CT. Ben did an awesome job cutting my hair a few weeks ago. He was also super easy to work with- since I knew I needed a cut but was not sure what to do. He was very prompt and confident with some suggestions that worked out really well. I'm definitely an amateur when it comes to styling my own hair, but he gave me some workable tips. They also offer free bang trims which is a plus if you're worrying about maintenance! The price of a senior stylist is not cheap, but if you're used to NYC prices then the prices here aren't really shocking. Overall I'm happy and relieved to find someone I can now go to on a regular basis! read more

Went here based off a groupon deal and was glad I walked in. The studio is nice and on the third floor overlooking the water and main street. I had a great coloring experience, they were helpful and listened to my suggestions. By far this review goes to Paul who took the time to give me a great blow dry. My hair looked awesome for the afternoon, and I owe it to his excellent styling of what would complement my face, and his great products. It is somewhat pricey, comparable to high end salons, but the groupon deal is worth it and you should jump on the deal. Would go back in the future... read more

Amber did such a great job with my previously at-home colored hair. She even spent extra time applying a lightener around my hairline to zsush up the single-process a little the first time I came in. I've since been back several times for highlights and have always left feeling like she understood exactly what I was looking for (even when I might not have). If you have dark hair, beware of this salon. I came in on Thursday afternoon for a full highlight appointment with Amber. At the beginning of my appointment, I showed her images of what I liked, mentioned that I had gray hair and asked for her opinion about how best to hide them. I had read that highlights were an excellent way to mask grays. She said that she could try to achieve a warm brown color with caramel highlights which sounded lovely to me. She did say that the color would depend on whether my hair would "lift" but she did not at any time say, there is a good chance the color could turn out very brassy and orangish red. She didn't offer any alternative suggestions but simply nodded her head and appeared to know what she was doing. I am sorry to say that I am absolutely unhappy with the results. I have had highlights done before and this looks more like a really bad bleach job which I paid $175 for. My hair is literally orangish red. There are no highlights -all of my hair looks like one color. Not to mention the fact that the grays are even more obvious. I spoke with the manager of the salon explaining the situation and on the phone she seemed to be very amenable to finding me another stylist to help fix the problem. Within minutes I get a call from my initial hairdresser, Amber, the one who I did not want to have work on my hair again! She explained that she could fix the problem, if I preferred to "not pay for it." I guess the alternative is that I must now pay another stylist to have my bleached looking hair corrected. Unbelievable and not acceptable. Needless to say, I will not be returning. read more

I went here today for a simple root touch up and my stylist was Ashley. I admittedly have been neglecting my hair and so my roots were about an inch and a half. Ashley went out of her way to make sure every root was covered, even going back multiple times and doubling up on some roots. She mentioned that the reason for this was because my roots were so long and so it may look spotty without the doubled effort. I thought it was super nice and professional, especially since my root touch up ended up taking longer than usual. I would definitely come back again. As for the salon, it looks really upscale and pretty..then again I wouldn't expect anything less from a salon in Westport. read more

I've been coming here for a couple months and would not go to any other salon. The salon is clean and inviting everyone here always has a smile on their face. Amy does my color and she is extremely talented. I have normally dark brown hair and she processed my hair to platinum blonde in no time. She is a wizard and every month she nails it. I've gotten my hair cut from Jackie and she also does an excellent job. She listens to how I'd like my cut and she perfects it. I wish I had more good things to say about the salon as the lady (owner) was very nice. I really think the salon is pricey for the service. My haircut was very normal, nothing exciting! The very first thing I said as soon as I sat down was I need layers but once the haircut was done, it was pretty flat absolutely no layers! I had to really convince her to get what I want which she later agreed with. Apart from the haircut, one thing which bothered me a lot was the cleanliness! The brush she used on me had so much hair on it which grossed me out. I loved the location but not so much the salon itself. read more

Have never written a Yelp review, but I have to say I enjoyed everything about my first experience at Fringe 125 in Westport. I normally get my hair colored by some of the finest salons in NYC, but was in need of a quick touch up this weekend on the way up to CT. Jaime did an incredible job listening to what I wanted and I left feeling like my color has never looked better - natural and yet vibrant. I have dark hair, and for the past year haven't found a salon in NYC where I didn't come out feeling like a bronzed pumpkin. Highlights here were perfect. I also found the loft-like salon with water views relaxing and welcoming - whoever wrote that this place could be more friendly hasn't visited a salon in NYC. Awful haircut. They chopped off my hair. It's uneven and an awkward blunt cut. My only request was that I could still pull it all back...I got bad side bangs...that can't be pulled back. Then when I asked what the usual fee would be for the haircut, in order to tip appropriately-I was told $85. The Groupon website said $75 (as the original price). Amber was incredibly knowledgeable about color and helped me to understand how to create a sustainable blonde in my over-processed hair. She was very thorough and saved me from a dark blonde glaze gone muddy brown. Flora is just plain adorable and gave me the most beautiful, precision-cut lob. I have tried many of the salons here in Westport/Fairfield and this place is as good as it gets. I guess the best way to explain the quality is 6 weeks ago on Monday I had to get a haircut and went to another salon. When I saw my wife later on that day she looked at me and said, "Ben didn't cut your hair today did he? New ownership has brought much needed energy and training to the stylists as I overheard them sharing in the back about one of the classes they just attended and how glad they were ownership supported them growing their skill set. read more

I have been going to Studio on Main for over 4 years, and it is safe to say I will never stray from this salon! I have tried several other salons in Fairfield County before finding Studio on Main - and there is no comparison. Amber and Charmaine are absolute hair goddesses, and leave me with the most beautiful color and cut every time I visit. I can always trust them to give me exactly what I want - and they know how picky I am with my hair! I always leave completely satisfied, and with the most amazing blowout that I can't even try to mimic myself. This salon doesn't give off the stiff, cold vibe either, like many salons in the area tend to. The front desk receptionist is an absolute sweetheart, and all of the staff are warm and welcoming. Each one of the colorists and stylists are incredibly talented and worth every penny (stalk them on Instagram and see for yourself).
