Ordered a shish tawoiok platter for delivery. The description said white rice and green salad with 2 chicken kababs marinated in garlic and lemon juice. Got the 2 kabobs but not sure they were the right thing. Orange rice, no salad. When choosing your options it offers lettuce tomato and onion as toppings. I didn't realize you can only order 1 so I got a big pile of onions in white sauce. They need to change their description on Uber Eats if that's not what they serve. Very disappointing, probably won't order again.

I ordered the chicken platter with rice and white sauce. I also got pickles on the side along with tomato's and onions. Initially I was going to give this place "3" stars since there seemed to be flies flying around the garnish when I came in the first time on Sunday. However, after a few days I started wanting some halal food from this spot and went back. Although the insects turned me off the 1st time I came in, I did not see them any other time. The pita slices here are AMAZING! The food is pretty good also- I would come back.

Halal Spot is great, which at first looks like just another halal guys-esque chicken and rice platter spot, but they also have a variety of tandoor items and curries to choose from. I tried their chicken sikh kabob and a lamb kabob, and both were great. Looking forward to returning and checking out their Old Bridge location.

I was in my way to JFK airport and I found this place The Hala Spot . The food was excellent and affordable The cashier was very friendly with happy smile it the end I want to say the place is clean and definitely worth the visit

The food here was very good. There can be a little bit of a wait if you are going to dine in as they get a lot of take out orders but it would have been worth it. I had gotten the chicken gyro platter where you can pick as many (or as little) veggies to go with on the side and an order of masala fries. I would definitely recommend both!

You can't go wrong with this place. I tried both the regular chicken platter and the chicken tikka platter. Both awesome. Chicken tikka was soo juicy!! The portion size is great!! The prices are the most reasonable you can get for platters!! Great value for the money and very good service. Highly recommended! read more

Based on the food alone I would give this a 5 star. Reminds of the street carts in NYC. However the delivery service has led me to provide a 3/5. Had good luck with ordering pickup many times. Went to order last night for delivery. DoorDash was charging $14.99 per platter. I ordered directly from Halal Spot's website because it was more affordable than using DoorDash. Unfortunately, the delivery took an excruciatingly long 2 hours to arrive. This wait was incredibly frustrating, and it's disappointing that the promised delivery time was not met. I hope they can improve their delivery speed in the future. It's bad that the delivery is leading me to provide a less than ideal review. read more

We ordered online. I like that there was something for each of us in our party of 5. Very generous sized portions at a very reasonable rate. Falafel platter was crunchy on the outside and moist nutty flavor on the inside. Tikka and tandoori platters were delicious. My mom had the gyro, which she liked. We had side orders of naan-also good and baklava for dessert-yummy! A suggestion would be to add tzatziki sauce as an option. And maybe explain what the white and green sauces are online little heavy on the sauces so specify if you would like them lighter or on the side. Would also recommend that the front space be cleared out. Lots of boxes and files of papers does not make an appealing entrance and first impression. The server, who I assume is also the owner, is very friendly. read more

Been here several times - about time I leave a review. It's probably the only easy place to stop when going down the turnpike. However that doesn't mean it's not good- in fact it's surprising how good the food here is. Even with a mile long menu, one would think there's no way all this food can be tasty. But it is. I had chicken tikka and it was delicious. Platters are also tasty. Lamb gyro was good- but not the real lamb, but street meat lamb type. It's a solid halal place. read more

The Halal Spot could very well deserve an extra star, but on my small to go order experience it rates at least a solid three. The store is clean and comfortable albeit a bit austere and on the small side, but welcoming enough for people to sit and eat. Along one wall you have typical kitchen style tables and chairs allowing for groups of four or fewer to easily sit. Along the opposite wall toward the back is one counter where you order food and dictate what salad items you want. Further to the front is another counter where you can pay, and also select any of a few pastries and candy treats. I only ordered a large side of falafel, 6 pieces for $3, and everything about it was amazing. Made fresh, a healthy size, hot and crisp outside with a warm "falafely" inside. I was surprised to find the falafel is actually spicy (only slightly, but be warned if you don't like a kick to your food!) Service was friendly. Only one guy behind the counter so with a crowd it could possibly back up, but he hustled and acknowledged every customer as they came in. I'll definitely try more food from Halal Spot, and hopefully will give them an upgrade then. read more

For $10 you can't go wrong with the chicken and long grain rice. The chicken is always fresh as also with the rice.. Usual wait time is about 5 to 7 minutes because they make your order the way you exactly specify read more

Got Butter Chicken the other day here. It was amazing. Another day I came here I also got The Chapli Kabab. I've had Chapli Kabab at Afghan Restaurants before and this one was definitely different, much spicier it was very good. The Naan is also very good, always fresh from the oven. I just moved to Rahway and I am THRILLED to have found this place. The Halal Spot is AMAZING! The mixed gyro platter comes in a generous portion, the white and green sauce on top was delicious, and the veggies to go with are fresh. It tastes so much better than other halal places. You might pass it at first when you drive by, this place is very clean, the staff here are nice, and the food is the bomb dot com. If you're hungry you should definitely get the hotspot platter! I use to live about 5 minutes from this place but once I moved to Edison my drive is alittle over 15 minutes but its ohhh so worth it if you want great tasting fresh Halal food. read more

I have been trying to find a chicken over rice place for awhile now. I was in the area and hungry so I found this place on yelp. Omg. This place is amazing. I loved the chicken over rice so much, I got it with white sauce and green sauce, it was amazing and the salad choices are amazing as well. This place has great seating and GREAT customer service. We wanted to sample many things so we purged the appetizer sample platter. There was not one thing on it that tasted bad from the stiffed grape leaves to the fried zucchini. We also order the mixed grill platter. Once again we were not disappointed. Finally we had the moussaka, it was fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant.

It's located across of CubaNu Restaurant & Lounge on the corner of Lewis St and Main St in downtown Rahway. There's paid street parking and parking garages around the area. My coworker and I shared their Calamari Al Forno, tossed with Italian sausage, hot cherry pepper, and balsamic glaze. And wow. Who would have thought balsamic glaze with calamari would be sooooo good! I'll definitely be ordering that combination again. The mix with the Italian sausage and cherry peppers added a nice kick to the dish. Both of us could not stop eating it even though we wanted to save room for our pastas. Our meal was off to a great start! I ordered their Linguini de Mar which was supposed to have four seafoods: shrimp, calamari, mussels, and clams. Unfortunately, mine was missing the calamari. However, the pasta was incredibly flavorful and the seafood was cooked perfectly - not overdone or underdone at all. YUM! My coworker got their Cheese Ravioli with the Bolognese sauce (unsure if it was extra as I didn't see the check). She loved her pasta as well! She's usually a light eater, but she devoured half the calamari appetizer and all of her pasta, which speaks volumes about how much she enjoyed the meal. I felt that the one downside was the unusual amount of water I drank (maybe ten cups?). This was my own personal indicator that there was definitely some sort of flavor enhancer which wasn't a negative thing. I'm not certain, but the food was very good, so kudos to them if that's the case. Overall, definitely a hidden gem! We unfortunately didn't try their pizzas/pies but this will definitely be on my list again the next time I visit. Or I may opt in for another round of calamari al forno and pasta again, haha!

was craving some halal and found this on yelp with very good reviews.... place is very clean but odd that there are two counters, one for indian food and one for halal but not an issue just wasn't sure where to go guy at the counter was very nice and friendly....took about 5-7 minutes to get the food and you can get a salad added with various toppings when we first saw the halal chicken we weren't sure as it looked different to other halal's we have had.....but boy was it good.....the chicken was so tender and flavorful.....the white sauce was very good as well.....my only comment is the hot sauce was not very hot and was watery almost like tabasco....but other than that it was very good and we enjoyed it will definitely be back.... read more

Wow this place is good. I love gyro platters and usually end up ordering them whenever I see them on the menu. But I've never had a platter like this! Everything tasted so fresh and the serving portion was pretty decent as well. The only thing I didn't absolutely love was the burgers. They weren't bad but they weren't special either. I would recommend the lamb over rice gyro or the chicken tikka gyro! Ahh so good can't wait to go back here. read more

Good platter options. Food is clean and well prepared. Can't say these guys are "the best South Asian" restaurant taste wise, but they serve up decent food and salad. This is hands down the best platters in tri state. The meat literally melts in your mouth and the taste is outrageous. I need my fix once a week and I have no once had a bad experience.
