This relatively new place showed up on my search for Indian food one day when I was looking for something to get delivered to my place and I'm glad that I gave this place a try. For starters, the menu is very different and unlike any traditional Indian restaurant. They menu has the traditional Indian entrees and appetizers along with some fusion items such as Naan Tacos, Burritos and Empanada to name a few. For my first ever order from this place I stuck to the traditional known items and I must say I quite liked what I got. I had ordered Tandoori Masala Chicken Wings, Gobi Manchurian, Chilli Chicken and Chicken Tikka Kati Roll. Chilli Chicken was super spicy and would advice people put special comments to make it milder if you can't handle the spice. Gobi Manchurian was good and the wings were decent. The Kati Roll left me wanting more. The stuffing tasted decent but the roll itself was big so everything came popping out after the first bite. Overall, a decent place for a first try. I would definitely try this place again to taste some more off the menu.

It's Christmas Day, didn't properly grocery shop beforehand, and ended up searching for dinner. Naturally most places were closed but FD was open. The place is not fair from where I live so surprised me that I have not tried it yet. Ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala with is a creamy tomato based dish with chicken and spices. When I picked the food up, the interior to the restaurant was well kept, clean, and had indoor seating. The meal itself was very good. A ton of flavor. It had a little kick to it from the spices but nothing overpowering. It contained chucks of juicy chicken and chopped peppers. I've actually ordered from here again already since the first time on Christmas Day.

This place was good at first until I had a couple of issues with the food and how they treated me after spending hundreds of dollars there. I just ordered off Uber eats from this establishment. They didn't honor the buy one get on free offer and only gave me one pizza instead of two. I called them to find out what happened and they were disrespectful and hung the phone up on me twice just for asking why I didn't get my buy one get one free offer. The merchant went on saying that I had to buy 2 to get one for free which was a complete lie because it says buy one get one free not buy two get one free. The management in my opinion have no professionalism whats so ever and don't take any accountability for what they do. It's disgusting. They should be ashamed. And they'll only lose business treating customers this way. Now I will tell everyone I know my experience because it's complete nonsense. Especially from someone that lives in the neighborhood. If they are so unhappy and can't figure it out they shouldn't be in business. I hope you get my message and it resonates through your establishment. Maybe next time you won't hang up the phone and treat paying customers with disrespect. Also the yogurt for my biryani was sour and disgusting was spoiled

Absolutely delicious! I love the fusion of Indian and American style food they offer. The empanada was bursting with paneer and peppers, the pizza was AMAZING! This place is a must try! I'll be ordering again very soon.... and so will all my family and friends because this is my new spot!

Yes finally found a solid go to in Carteret! Customer service was top tier! Jesse was very nice and helped me decide what I wanted to eat. The food was so fresh and delicious! I got the butter chicken platter and butter chicken tacos. Give this place a try, you won't regret it!

Famous dhaba is a new Spot located in west carteret. I have tried the following and highly recommend to anyone: butter chicken, chicken quesadillas, and pizza. Very delicious and not too heavy. It beats traveling to Edison! Their ras malai and cupcakes are very fresh and delicious! Yum yum yum!

Amazing food. Such good and authentic taste. Any dish you order from the menu, it tastes authentic and lip smackingly delicious. Suggest it a 100%z

Our entire party wasn't there yet, but we were seated anyway, which I really appreciated. The staff checked in on us consistently without being overbearing, and while we waited for the rest of our party, we were asked if we wanted a drink. That small gesture stood out to me because a lot of restaurants will make you wait until everyone arrives before they even offer you anything. Here, they made us feel welcomed right away. Now, the food. We ordered the steak and eggs, island oxtail burrito, island burger with egg, and I decided to make my own combination. I ordered the Ou La wings and asked if I could get a side of diri jon jon (Haitian black mushroom rice). They were happy to accommodate the request, and everyone enjoyed their meals. One thing that really impressed me was how quickly an issue with the steak was handled. The steak had been ordered medium well, but came out well done. It was mentioned, and once it was brought to the chef's attention, the chef came back just a couple of minutes later with the steak prepared the way it was originally requested. A big deal wasn't made about it, so the fact that he took the initiative to correct it so quickly said a lot to me about how seriously they take their customers and food. And then there was the kremas! I noticed that they had a cocktail called Café Kremas, which is essentially an espresso version of a traditional kremas. It sounded interesting, but I really wanted to try the kremas by itself. I asked, and they were more than happy to accommodate me. Again, that willingness to listen and make the customer happy really stood out. The ambiance is beautiful. Everything feels thoughtfully designed, from the aesthetics to the layout. There's a separate bar area, and you can actually see the chefs working and preparing the food, which adds to the experience. Ou La is doing something special. The food was good, the atmosphere is beautiful, but what really stood out to me was the service. The staff was pleasant, attentive, professional, and clearly focused on making sure the customers were taken care of. If you're thinking about eating at this restaurant, I'm telling you to do it. Support this business and tip well. We need more restaurants that understand great food is only part of the experience. Customer service is important, and Ou La gets that. There is metered parking directly in front of the restaurant. If those spots are full, there's additional parking in the lot behind the restaurant near the church. I would also suggest making a reservation, especially if you're planning to go during a busy brunch or dinner service.

We had the short rib empanadas, which were crispy and fully of meat. They were definitely the highlight of the night! The rasta pasta was good, but it came out warm and with few shrimp. The flavors were still excellent, however. The carrot cake for dessert was moist and not too sweet, which I prefer! The space was also super clean and well maintained. What really disappointed me was the service. We had a reservation, but had to wait to be seated even with plenty of open tables. That's normally not a big deal for us, but we had an event to get to tonight, so we were in more of a rush. Someone came to us to ask what water we wanted after 10 minutes of being sat, after which the hostess came back over to us to apologize that our server hasn't come over yet and asked if we would like water. Much more time passes and someone (still not our server) comes to ask us if everything is alright. We explain that no one has taken our order, which she apologized for and took our order for us. She then had to come back over because she forgot to include what protein we picked for our pasta. Finally, our server came over to us. We explained that we had already ordered. More hiccups continued throughout the night, including a long wait for the check, never being brought a dessert menu after asking, etc. I'm not one to complain about service, I just think they could be more efficient. At the time we arrived, there were only a few other tables seated in our area. It wasn't super busy, and there were a lot of people working. We overheard staff whispering about who was supposed to be taking care of us, and it still took time for someone to come over and help us. I think the staff knew we overheard or were disappointed in the service, because our dessert was free, and we received a bread basket as well. I'd love to give them another chance, just maybe not if I have plans after.

The space clearly isn't big enough for what they're trying to do, and you can tell the kitchen staff is struggling in a makeshift setup. Everyone working there was very sweet and seemed to have good intentions, but it also felt like they're not being set up for success. We waited almost 15 minutes just to order and not because there was a long line. The staff just seemed completely overwhelmed and backed up. We ordered tiramisu and cookie butter lattes, and it took another 15 minutes to get them. When they finally came, both drinks tasted like milk and sugar. I genuinely think they forgot to add espresso. At that point, the place was so packed and chaotic that we didn't even bother saying anything, we just left and went across the street for bagels and coffee instead. Overall, it felt like a huge waste of time, money, and gas.

From what I've heard, it usually gets packed during peak sports seasons--but we happened to hit a lull (post-football, pre-baseball, and no major games on), so we basically had the place to ourselves. That actually worked in our favor--the quieter atmosphere made it easy to relax and enjoy conversation without the usual sports bar chaos. Drinks were a highlight. I went with the sangria, which was refreshing and well-balanced. Instead of ordering full entrees, we decided to share a bunch of appetizers. Everything that came out looked great, and everyone in the group seemed really happy with the flavors. As someone with a gluten allergy, though, I was pretty limited in what I could order. The ribs ended up being one of my only real options--but thankfully, they were tender, flavorful, and definitely the standout for me. Still, I do wish there were more gluten-free choices, especially since we were there to celebrate and share food. One thing that stood out (in a not-so-great way) was that we felt a bit rushed toward the end of the meal. We didn't even get the chance to order a birthday dessert, which was disappointing given the occasion, but seeing since it was only our group there I'm sure they were ready to close and go home. Service overall was attentive and friendly while we were dining, so no complaints there otherwise. It was winter when we visited, but I can see this being a great spot in warmer months--the outdoor seating looks like it would really add to the experience. Parking was easy on a Sunday night, and they do have a lot, but make sure to read the signs carefully since some spots are reserved for the theater next door. Overall it has a great vibe, solid drinks, and food that people clearly enjoy--I just wish there were more gluten-free options so I didn't leave still a little hungry.

They're using aluminum trays, which I'm assuming get reused bc they're all bent out of shape. So, for this reason(and one more below) I've given 3, instead of 4 stars. My kids do love the sandwiches, and an added bonus are the chips of your choice. Okay, so a while back, when they first opened up, I ordered a salad with grilled chicken. Being on a health journey, I was looking forward to a delicious salad. Unfortunately, they did not knock it out of the park. The chicken is seasoned weird. I really couldn't put my finger on it, not sure if it's cumin or something else, but it had this weird flavor that I do not want at all on grilled chicken. I don't even think it's cumin, I'm really not sure: I haven't ordered a salad since, or a chicken sandwich, bc I couldn't accept that flavor in my mouth honestly, I'm being nice here BTW. To make it worse, there was a hair in my salad. If it wasn't for my family, I would've stopped getting food here. They convinced me to give them a try again. Glad I did, I may even consider trying the chicken again, but will be extremely disappointed if it tastes the same lol Either way, this is a good spot for bagels and sandwiches. Just hoping they will get some normal trays for bagels. It'll make the place look more clean, professional and overall aesthetically pleasing.
