Its a good platter. Tastes better than the NJ halal guy locations, and they also give a lot more meat. I believe its a couple more bucks than halal guys, but the differential seems justified. Only complaint is that the lamb wasn't the best. First of all, they use some type of minced lamb as opposed to pieces of lamb, so I'm guessing its not the best quality. It also didn't have the strong lamb flavor. Next time I will just save a few bucks and get chicken instead. They did grill the meat after we ordered, so it takes a bit longer, but it does taste better freshly cooked. read more

Food is excellent with good amount of quantity. They now have an extended menu providing more options beyond the platters. The platters and sandwiches are really good alongside the chicken cutlets and i can say the falafels are the best we get in Jersey. So... never judge a dish by its cover. When I first opened the bag I thought there was too much sauce at first glance. Well, when I took my first fork full of rice with the sauce I realized it was just right. The sauce was really good and really went well with the rice and chicken. Food and service wasn't great. I came in around noon and there wasn't anyone in there. The guy working the counter didn't greet or acknowledge me and even after I said hello to him he didn't make an effort to make me feel welcomed by getting off of the counter he was leaned up/relaxing on. I love the flavor of the chicken and it is more aesthetically appealing than some of the other "Halal" places with a similar name. Came here for the first time Saturday night to pick up some food. I was really in the mood for a chicken platter so I figured I would check this place out since I've had it on my bookmark list. Based on what I've tried, I'd probably give this a 2.5 to be honest but the other menu items look good. I had a paneer kathi roll and a potato kathi roll. Both lacked flavor especially the potato one, which was so bland that I threw it out. The chutney and white sauce are good although I wasn't expecting to see white sauce inside the roll. I'd skip the kathi rolls but I want to try the falafel next time. I ordered a falafel sandwich once on Grubhub and they sent some meat platter and chicken - I'm vegetarian so I couldn't eat it. He warmed the chicken in front of me and toasted some pita and added the side salads and gave me my own bottles of hot sauce and white sauce. That is good so you don't have to go up over and over again. The meat it self is lean and clean with not to much oil so actually healthy and good! But the meat wasn't much flavor to it. Rice was regular platter style rice but didn't taste much flavor. White sauce was average had to add a lot to get flavor. Not a bad place, good quality but not much flavor. Given all the great reviews, I decided to finally drive out of my way to try the platters here. Parking and seating should not be a problem as there is plenty of both; NJHB is in a strip mall and has plenty of tables. The interior is low-key, but they do have a neat touchscreen POS system. FOOD: We ordered a couple of Regular-sized Combo Platters (chicken and gyro--$7.99/ea) for dinner and ended up being happy with what we received. Chicken was already being chopped and grilled on the flat top when we walked in, while the gyro was sliced off the spit right after we ordered. You can load up on all the toppings you want, but we opted for hummus and a few vegetables for each one. While I thought the chicken was good, the gyro was probably my favorite of the two. Both the white sauce and hot sauce tied everything together; each platter also comes with a couple pieces of bread. SERVICE: The guy that initially did all the work was friendly and kept asking if the amount of rice, meat, and toppings for each platter were enough. Hopefully he gets someone to help him, though, since it was a 20 minute wait with only 2 other customers ahead of us. I'm a huge fan of halal (and similar) platters, so this is the first of probably many visits. The chicken was tandoori style and the lamb was minced I felt like the meat and the taste of the meat was 10x better then the halal guys trucks that only taste good when your drunk! I was definitely sober on a Sunday night and as I went down the line I got salad, yellow rice, tomatoes, taboli, cucumber and onions! My husband did all that plus olives cheese and babaganoosh! We got home and I was ecstatic on how good the food was!! I was hoping since it was so close to home but I was blown away. In comparison to Halal Guys the food is 10x more fresh and made on the spot when you order. The white sauce is amazing and not as heavy as the Halal Guys. If you like spice like myself the hot sauce isn't AS spicy as the Halal Guys but should we be eating thattttt spicy anyway?? We paid and the owner gave us a sample of the chicken on their in house baked pita. Service is an A+++! The food was just as amazing! The lamb was finely cut and almost melted in your mouth. The salad was fresh and crisp. The rice was perfect. They did not skimp on the extremely delicious white sauce. Overall better than their competitors in food quality and service.
