While I may be repeating what has already been said, it is the best pizza in Hudson. The olives were good, but the mushroom pie was perfect. They don't overwhelm you with fancy choices. You can have a classic NY, a white or a red (no cheese) with about 6-7 toppings to choose from. It's the sauce that makes the pie. There are two salad choices. We had the Caesar, and it was the real deal, anchovies and all. Everyone was super friendly. We were there on an off night, and the low key vibe was just what we wanted. Plan to go back on a Friday or Saturday. It's a classic old bar, but there are booths and tables on the pizza side if a dark bar isn't what you're looking for.

Best pizza in Hudson! Friendly staff and a cool pizza shop/bar vibe. Perfectly located right in the downtown district and walking distance from the Amtrak station and just about anywhere else downtown.

Wild Saturday night (t would appear 50s hits are not a hit, especially with a $5 cover)

Open til 1am, so it doesn't really start to fill til after 11pm. Great selection of draft and bottled beers, including local brews, at decent prices ($5-7). There was a "DJ" spinning early rock records, which could easily have been a playlist. No one was dancing, and everyone was salty about the mandatory $5 cover to grab a drink. The bar has many decades of history, through several incarnations and owners. It's divey in a low key but not grimy way. Lots of wood, a disco ball, chill outdoor patio area, etc. Mixed crowd of locals and visitors, unlike the swankier cocktail spots in town.

    Most fascinating restrooms in Hudson.

Best pizza in the area. Great old bar ambiance and the only pool table in town. The restroom decor is unparalleled.

One of the original spots in Hudson, happy hour was great 4 dollar beers. The bartender was a good guy, said his last name was "WOO" so to order a drink you holler "Woo!", good service, and fun environment. A lot of new york city folk there for the weekend, I went on a Saturday night. Pool table, looks to be a stage for live music, ample space to dance. Great spot, and affordable. Served Carribean food in the back, maybe because i was hungry it tasted amazing, but was some of the best oxtail, jerk chicken, rice and beans with cabbage ive ever had. 10$ for jerk chicken, 14$ for oxtail, i split the difference and got a mix of both :). Amazing! Will recommend. Can get rowdy on the weekend but security is present.

The interior is a nice balance between rustic and modern, creating a cozy/homelike atmosphere. The host and service staff were warm and welcoming, taking the time to explain both the menu and the nightly specials. We ordered the sea salt focaccia with whipped ricotta, the Maine mussels all'Amatriciana, the Argentinian red prawns, the heritage pork chop, and toffee pudding. The focaccia was baked perfectly, with just the right amount of seasoning. The biggest surprise, though, was the mussels. They arrived already removed from the shells, which I wasn't expecting, but they ended up being the standout dish of the meal. The prawns were good, while the pork chop had nice flavor, though I wish it had been a little juicier. The toffee pudding is highly recommended. Overall, it was a solid meal in a comfortable setting.

Then the server came back and said she was able to move us. This was not a great start - but we appreciated them accommodating us. Oysters were fresh. Delicious. On Mondays they have $1 oyster nights so we will come back for these Food took a really long time to come out after the oysters ... Frisée salad was ok. My husband ordered Mike frites and they were very good. Frites even came with some homemade aioli I had the fried chicken on a bed of mash. But they should serve mash in the side as the Chicken got soggy. It was all well prepared and tasty. We really wanted a side of cooked greens. But they do not offer vegetable sides...just the frisee salad. It's casual pub like feel. We like this place and will probably come back. And now we know - no side vegetables...

I would like to go back but they have so few options it's not fun or interesting. Yes the food is good. I wish I could get the "full" menu at the bar. I like the fact that you see food you don't see anywhere else up here and it is quality and well prepared. What really bothers us is that you must order everything up front. This is really unacceptable. My wife and I like to order appetizers with appropriate wine and then see which way we are going. Yes I understand it's easier on the kitchen but comm on: you only have three entrees!!!!! The bartending couple that work there are knowledgeable and professional. The wine is not kept behind the bar bit strangely kept on a table outside the kitchen. Really awkward. That being said we would like to go back but will not due to the aforementioned reasons. It's a shame this place could be great.

I've had the pleasure and privilege of dining at some of the most reputable establishments in NYC and LA, and this ranks in the top tier. The flavors were intricate yet subtle, and I loved that it was vegetable forward. My "Not a Negroni" was the best Negroni I've had, hands down. I wasn't sure how the Rum and Pineapple Amaro would work together, but they were exquisite compliments. The homemade sourdough and butter came out hot and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. It was hard to resist ordering more. A simple salad of lettuces, cucumber, cheese and light dressing blew my mind -- perfect for summer. I got the dauphine potatoes, which were like potato croquettes, and the addition of prosciutto made them a hearty and filling dish. The only miss for me were the desserts -- the flavor of the lemon tart was excellent but there was a jello-like encasing that seemed out of place and unnecessary. The mousse also had these strange jello-like pieces in the cream, which didn't really work for me. Next time, I would get the sundae. Our server, Amanda, was friendly and attentive without being overly watchful, and when she got busy, the host came over and helped us order drinks. This place is a gem, and I look forward to returning.

"We don't have a cocktail menu, but we can make anything you'd like."…read more That was one of the first things our server told us, and honestly, it was refreshing. These days, it feels like every bar has a cocktail menu full of creatively named drinks that require reading a list of ingredients just to figure out what you're ordering. At Governor's Tavern, if you want a gin and tonic, you simply ask for a gin and tonic. The only decision you need to make is which gin you'd like. I'm not much of a cocktail person, but I appreciate that not every place feels the need to reinvent the wheel. The place was packed at lunchtime, but we got lucky and grabbed a pair of seats across from the bar. The server who I quoted was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I ordered a Guinness, but unfortunately the keg had just kicked. She recommended the Samuel Smith chocolate stout instead and even brought me a sample before I committed to taste since I never heard of it, which was a nice touch. For food, we ordered the State Grill burger and the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. Both were excellent, and each came with Belgian-style hand-cut fries. If you're spending the day browsing the boutiques and antique shops along Warren Street and want a drink, a good meal, and a lively mix of locals and tourists, Governor's Tavern is worth a stop.

Only a few people appear to have ordered food here. Basically, the place appears to be a watering hole. Only app.metered parking in the area.
