    Fried pickles

We were genuinely excited to stop at Hammond Ferry Larder on our long drive home from Surfside Beach to Montgomery. Between the playground right next door, open outdoor seating, and nearby walking trails, it seemed like the perfect road trip pitstop for our stir-crazy kids (and parents). Bonus: we saw they had drinks and a promising-looking menu. Total win, right? Unfortunately, we rolled in an hour before opening--my fault for not checking the hours. That would've been a disaster since my 4-year-old and I were both doing the "I need to pee" dance, but thankfully, the kind kitchen staff let us in to use the restroom while they prepped. We decided to hang around and wait for them to open, and honestly, the outdoor space made it easy to kill an hour. The kids ran around, we played on the playground, and when a sudden downpour rolled in, we took cover under their patio and even got to play a round of giant Connect 4. By the time 4:00 rolled around, we were wet, hungry, and ready to eat. And then it got awkward. We rushed inside excitedly... only to be met with a trio of staff who looked just as confused by us as we were by the vibe. No one greeted us, no host stand, just a blank stare until someone finally said we could sit anywhere. So we awkwardly claimed a table and tried to shake off the weird energy. Our server came over soon after, and we placed our order. I got the drink special--a gin Paloma--which was fine, nothing remarkable. We started with fried pickles (solid but unmemorable), and then moved on to our mains: cheese pitas for the girls, hot honey chicken sliders with sweet potato fries for me, and fish and chips for my husband. Sadly, things went downhill from there. My chicken sliders were just basic chicken tenders on toasted buns. The goat cheese added a little something, but the hot honey was nowhere to be found. The sweet potato fries were floppy and undercooked. The girls' cheese pita was... well, exactly what the menu said: pita with melted cheese. But it somehow still felt a little sad. The worst offender? The fish and chips. The fish was soggy, and the breading slid off like it was trying to escape the plate. The potato wedges were also undercooked. My husband ended up sending it back and opting for the warm chocolate brownie instead. The brownie was better than the fish--barely--but it was clearly just a microwaved store-bought dessert with a drizzle of syrup. In the end, the best part of our visit wasn't the food--it was the playground, the covered patio, and the generosity of the kitchen staff who let us in before opening. We were grateful for the rest stop, but the restaurant itself fell way short of expectations. for the family-friendly location and outdoor amenities for the kind kitchen staff and covered patio with games Points off for food quality (main dishes and dessert mostly disappointing) for the awkward service vibe at opening for lack of value and underwhelming execution If they improved food execution and tightened up the front-of-house experience, this place could easily be a 4-star gem for families on the go. As it stands, it's a pretty setting with subpar substance.

Went on a thursday night for a friends birthday and it was busier than expected because we didn't know trivia was happening, also made it very loud but it's okay. Food was good but in my opinion a little overpriced. My friend's greek salad was 18$ without a protein which is a bit much to me. The papas bravas and fried pickles were really good. I got the crispy bacon swiss burger which was good but missing the sauce and the bottom bun was completely soaked and useless. The atmosphere is really interesting, inside is very small with a bar and a few tables with only one single stall bathroom and outside feels like someone's nice backyard with a ton patio furniture. Overall I probably won't go back personally, just not my vibe, but I'd recommend them still.

The Hammond's Ferry Larder located in North Augusta, SC Food: We ordered the Fish (cod) and Chips and Ribeye Melt and washed it all down with a Mango Mule. The Fish and Chips was good, the house tartar sauce was good also. The Ribeye Melt was tender and flavorful... really good bread. Full transparency, the Portobello Mushroom appetizer left me with buyers remorse. I really loved my experience however it's a little pricey... for food that you could get anywhere else. Service: Great service! We were greeted by the host outside and seated. The staff were very polite and friendly. Ambiance: This is lovely small Tapas with limited table seating inside however outside seating is available. A full bar makes me smile.

We were able to be seated immediately, which in the past has been rare here. Our server was good and brought things we needed. I do wish she would've come over to refill water once. Food was nice and hot. I do wish the chicken was a bit crunchier. They were out of fried pickles so we couldn't have those, but the pickle vodka for the Bloody Mary was pretty good. I would've liked my coffee to be iced. Perhaps the menu should specify if it can be made hot or iced. Small, cute place. A bit of outdoor seating which is good.

Stumbled upon this place while walking through Hammond's ferry one day but had to come back when we had time to eat and I am so glad we did. Such a nice little place nestled in a small community with unique menu items and a great atmosphere. There is option to eat in or outside, and if you have kids there is a playground which is perfect to entertain the little ones while you enjoy your drinks and wait for your food. The pulled pork Benedict was fantastic and so large it was extremely filling that I had to nap afterwards. The French toast my wife had was delicious and full of favor compared to French toast at other breakfast places. Everything tasted fresh and proportional to the price you pay so it was worth every penny. The menu was large enough for options for a variety of food types depending on what you are craving, but small enough that you aren't overwhelmed with option overload. Everything looked delicious and it was hard to make a decision so I will have e to come back to try out other options. Their specials are unique and limited so there's something fresh and new each visit. The service was great and felt family friendly for a variety of dining out occasions.

Shrimp and grits with a side of bacon; fresh fried pork skins with aïoli dipping sauce; pulled pork Eggs Benedict w/ a side of grits.

EXCELLENT!!! Food what's on point! Service was on point! And the ambience...sitting outside was like a movie setting!!! we came here on a Sunday for brunch and we loved it! The food was hot and delicious. The coffee was good and the service was great. The food came out without waiting long at all. I got the shrimp and grits. My husband got the pulled pork eggs Benedict. We also got the fresh pork rinds with aïoli sauce. Everything was simply delicious and hot. No complaints from us. We will be back!!!

Fun, small, intimate. Not a ton of seating, but we sat outside, which was preferred, and it was nice. There is a playground right outside, which would be nice if we bring kids. The area feels like a small Charleston. The food, oh man, it was delicious! The grits were a great savory choice, it needs a little more flavor, just salt and pepper. The chicken biscuits was spot on, the chicken had a few tough parts. The seasoned home fries were great! The flavor had a little kick and had red pepper and onions. The breakfast burger was good, the bun was large and dense and it needed more bacon jam and cheese; overall good but needs tweaking.

Came here on a Saturday night and it was decently busy. We had a large party and were able to accommodate us. The service was great and patient with our big group. I loved the spicy feta dip. I wouldn't say it was spicy but definitely very flavorful. The bread really helps balance the flavor. It was a big portion to share and I think we were barely able to finish it in our group of 8. For my main I got the ribeye melt which was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was definitely pretty heavy and I should've only had half. I loved the taste so much that I finished it all. Parking seems to be a bit hard here because it's just street parking. It shouldn't be bad on a regular night, but maybe saturdays are busy.

I've had Larder for brunch a couple times but finally had it for dinner and wow. The server was great even though the kitchen was backed up. We ate outside since it wasn't too hot. Definitely recommend swinging by for brunch or dinner any time.

Cute little place, great for sitting and enjoying lunch or dinner outdoors. I really love the fact this place is kid and pet friendly. There's a small playground for the kids and they bring water out for the dogs. We stopped for lunch and ordered kids chicken fingers first my son, papas bravas, the spicy feta dip and fried avocados. I wasn't too excited about the food, it had no taste, no salt, no pepper, but we did order a drink it was delicious!! I hate the food wasn't great, because the customer service (was great) and the outdoor setting make it a great place to hang out at with the family.

Ribeye Melt and wedges. The chardonnay was delicious.

The ambiance at this restaurant is one of the main reasons to go. You get a local feel with delicious food, and no rush to leave. My server Melissa was knowledgeable, made her recommendations, efficient and sweet! I would definitely come back to this establishment.

This was the coolest place! It's a quaint little outdoor restaurant to grab food and drinks. It looks like there is only street parking I. The neighborhood and the place is surrounded by houses. They have a variety of items to include moonshine ice cream. We ran out of time and it was a bit cold out, so we didn't try the ice cream. They have some interesting sounding cocktails. We sat at on of their picnic tables and the servers were awesome! They turned on the outdoor heaters for us. We all got a salad of some type. I got the Mediterranean salad which was amazing! We got the tots and fried pickles as well. We were super happy with all the choices. I'd love to try their brunch. They also do trivia nights on Thursdays. That sounds like a good time.

Well our waitress said that she had to brew me a fresh cup of tea which when you pour that over ice the ice melts away and again I had a glass of room temperature tea.
