I had the fried chicken sandwich with alabama sauce, pickles, and Voodoo potato chips-y'all. It was so good I ordered another one to go (for my husband)before I was halfway finished. The chicken was so crispy and juicy; the brioche bun was grilled to perfection and pillowy soft. These were balanced by the twang of the alabama sauce and the dill pickles; the potato chips were salty and crunchy-the whole thing was crazy delicious. Most of my friends got the roast beef po boy and loved that. I'm getting the Disco fries (poutine) next time. Also, not for nothing, the chairs were the most comfortable I've sat in. I made reservations months in advance to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and were looking forward to a special evening. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. Despite requesting a booth when making our reservation, that request was ignored. The pasta of the day was underwhelming, especially for the price, and the overall meal simply did not justify a $140 bill. The espresso martini was the highlight of the evening, but one good drink couldn't make up for everything else. For what should have been a memorable anniversary dinner, we left feeling disappointed. Wish I could give half stars because this was a 4.5 star experience. Only open for a few weeks but truly impressed. It was crazy busy which meant some delays but it was worth it. The inside is filled with a fun environment and many TVs making it the perfect spot to watch football. We started with some of the unique cocktails, I had the Bloody Mary which had a sweet hint to it. However let's get to the menu there is truly something for everyone. There were so many options it was tough to decide. We started with the house oysters (from james river) which were perfect to start. The shrimp and grits were mouth watering goodness. I love a good S&G so this hit the spot with a creole gravy. The fish and chips were so great and their steak fries are phenomenal and crispy. 5:15 PM We arrived after attending the GreenJackets game. We called the Tavern before coming, to see if they could support a gluten free person. The young lady on the phone spoke of a lot of options, that were available. When we arrived, we were sat right away. Our server, Mallory came over and introduced herself. I explained upon the introduction that my daughter was Gluten Free. She said OK. We then requested drinks and appetizers. Upon receiving our appetizers after about 15-20 minutes, Mallory asked about our entrees. My Gluten Free daughter asked several questions about the availability of the gluten free dishes and Mallory brought up several sandwiches with Gluten Free bread and my daughter did not want the bread. She did confirm that they had a separate fryer for fries. My daughter asked for us to go ahead with our order. We ordered and I asked my daughter if she wanted anything. She said she was good and didn't want anything. Mallory did offer to go to the back and see if there were other dishes available and my daughter said that was not necessary. She did not want to cause a problem or fuss. My thought was that Mallory should be more trained on the available dishes and the options for that condition. She apparently was not. My daughter wanted to go to Brinks Tavern for her birthday. The atmosphere was great! We loved all the screens with different types of sports playing, and the music that was playing was awesome!! I ordered the million dollar bacon with deviled eggs. The bacon was good, but eggs lacked seasoning. I also ordered the platter with chicken strips, shrimp, French Fries, and hushpuppies, and all of it was delicious, especially the fries. Our server was very attentive and accommodating. Tiffani was an excellent bartender! She was professional, attentive, and had a great sense of humor that made the experience even more enjoyable. I ordered an Old Fashioned and she took the time to muddle the fruit exactly the way I requested, which I really appreciated. If you don't have a reservation be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes. We sat at the bar which was perfect for 2. The drinks are absolutely amazing. We alway at the bar and the bartender was absolutely amazing. He knew exactly what I should order. We placed our orders and watched all of the great TVs in the establishment. It's a great place to watch the games and the serves and hostesses are fabulous. It's a little loud but that's to be expected. The dress is casual. The food came out quickly and was still hot. Not a bad place by any means, the inside is nice. 3 Stars is being generous. 2 1/2 maybe. The food is a little fancier than the establishment itself. The brick wall between the front door and the bar is pretty cool, makes for a nice barrier. This was my second visit. Probably my last. A little on the pricey side. I can't get behind a $25 burger. Or a $7 Blue Moon (bottle), when a six pack is only $10 in the store. I mean, they already have Brinkley's Chop House for the rich people, they could make this one a smidge more affordable for the average person. $50 for two people for lunch is a bit ridiculous. A little disappointing. It's definitely not a place to go sit at the bar and watch a game... You'll go broke! Roast Beef Po Boy was good, but the bread was extremely hard. I had a couple bites and waited to eat the rest at home so I could put it in the micro to soften the bread. I had the Chef's Platter second visit, hush puppies had really good flavor, but a little undercooked. Although that dish came with shrimp, I was charged extra for cocktail sauce. That's crazy. We sat outside. There were fans to assist with the South Carolina heat. TVs in case you wanted to catch a game with friends. And corn hole in case you needed something to do while waiting on your food! We enjoyed the food overall. Fries were thick (usually a thin fry girl, myself) but still pleasant! I LOVE cornbread and I'd happily put on 20 lbs for a good one, but this one made me lose some weight. Not my favorite iteration of the southern classic. Gritty and lacking that usual flavor. Shrimp and sauce on the sammy were good but there was too! Much! Bread! As for my catch all meal -- chicken tenders and shrimp were a delight. Hush puppies: not too shabby. I came here after seeing they're pretty new, for gameday, and hearing mixed reviews. I asked to be sat by the big screen to watch the game, but like any tavern they have tvs all over and outside. They also have outdoor seating, which is a plus, but also be aware of the very limited parking spots. You might want to park a bit further and walk here. We were sat immediately, ordered drinks, and for food we got the single crab cake with collared greens and the endito poutine (seafood loaded fries rather than actual poutine). Prices are a bit high, but it is a seafood tavern. I liked the flavors of the food, so I do highly recommend something off the menu that's seafood. Their sandwiches also do look good! Service is good, and will take care of you if you decide to stay for an entire game. The vibes are pretty chill, but a lot of people do come here to watch the game so think of it as a chill watch party (unless you come at night maybe...?). Overall, I'd recommend!!!! read more

We went for lunch on a Friday. It was actually a late lunch. We went to the bar, and it was fully staffed. It was very refreshing to have such great customer service after having one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had less than 15 minutes before. Everyone at the bar was very pleasant and very observant. Often checking in and frequently refilling our beverages. A1 service. Great personalities in the bar area. I ordered the chicken tenders, and I'll say I was not 100% satisfied. If I remember correctly, the menu said it was an order of six, and I only received five. Not only that, they were very small. This is not satisfactory for $14. If they were sizable, and also tasted a bit better, I would not have complained as much. They obviously were made in-house, which I do appreciate, and they were hand-battered. The seasoning was decent, and they were fried decently, but the interior was a bit dry. They really could've used a brine. And they also did not include a side. So I had to add French fries, which were an additional six dollars. Unfortunately, the bartender did not know what kind of fries the Tavern had. Not really a fan of steak fries, but if you have to get them, this is the way. Most steak fries are large and very soggy. These weren't quite as crispy as I wanted, but they did have some texture. I did not hate them. Again, this was my first time visiting, and I did like the setup--both the inside seating, the bar area, and also the outdoor seating. I also noticed that it was handicap accessible, two thumbs up. They also seem to have a decent television setup if I remember correctly. So although I wasn't wowed by the food this time, I do think I'll be visiting again. The burgers seem a bit pricey, but I'm curious to see if they're worth it. And I'm also a fried chicken connoisseur, so I must revisit. But it does seem like a great addition to the area if only for the excellent customer service, the great drinks at the bar, and the laid-back ambience. read more

Walked in for dinner with the girls (just three of us this time, so only slightly less chaos) and left with a new appreciation for good service, strong drinks, and the subtle art of Gypsey Dining. She didn't really have any recommendations but she went to ask others. We had the smallest seafood "tower" warm or cold choice, The Port Royal 4 oysters, 4 shrimp, 6 Jonah crab claws, 4 oz maine lobster tail, 4 oz sashimi tuna We did the platter warm with cajun butter. It was absolutely delicious & fresh. We ordered a few more appetizers or small plates Million Dollar Bacon Pimento cheese deviled eggs. This bacon melted in our mouth. Really tasty & the deviled eggs were delicious. Smoked Salmon Toast Herbed cream cheese, cucumber, radish, capers, shaved red onion, smoked trout roe, marbled rye. This was ok, i honestly think the rye should have been toasted. The flavors mesh well & everything was fresh but the toast... Crab & Green Onion Hush Puppies These were light not too heavy and the sauce was a great compliment to the hushpuppies. Cornbread & Chorizo Butter Stuffed Oysters. These i think could have had a little less cornbread & just a bit more chorizo. It was really good. Dinner we ordered The Cuban & the roast beef sandwiches. My husband wasn't crazy about his Cuban,he said it didnt hit like a cuban. I didn't think my roast beef was the best I've ever had, it was ok but it had Swiss cheese on it and the roast beef was lukewarm, not cold and niy hot,I expected different I suppose. The bread wasn't the greatest. It would have been better toasted then the horseradish aoli could be smeared on. I'd say overall, really good food. I'd go for appetizers for sure. We were seated right away, our waitress was quite nice. Great location for lunch, but the drinks and food was slow to come out for a tavern. The patrons were steady but slow in comparison to a regular lunch crowd. I say that so you know it's not a quick lunch but more for a lunch meeting. We started off with the boudin balls. Ok, better with the sauce it comes with. Then I had the pound of crab legs with the Mac as my side. The crab legs were SMALL, for a pound, I would rather larger legs less quantity. It was a lot of work for very little meat. We also had the gumbo with the honey butter cornbread. Good, not great. Skip the vampire sangria! The aftertaste was a little off putting. The outside sitting area looks like it would be great in the spring and summer. Do I think the food was worth it for lunch? This review really is about the good, the bad, and the ugly. The good: The space itself is very nice--lots of TVs and a fun touch with 80s and 90s music videos playing. Our server was excellent: attentive, friendly, and clearly doing his best. The menu is also extensive, with something for just about everyone. The bad: Unfortunately, the food was very mediocre. I ordered the chef's burger of the day, a Wagyu ground beef burger priced at $29, cooked medium rare. It arrived well done. When I mentioned it, the server immediately offered to replace it, which I appreciated, but I was already full and didn't want to waste the food. It was also obvious the burger was made using a press--the meat was very dense and tough, which defeats the purpose of using Wagyu in the first place. In hindsight, it was my mistake to spend that much on a burger, especially since it wasn't any better than what you'd get at an average roadside stop. The regular burgers are around $17 and tasted essentially the same. Save your money and skip the Wagyu. The ugly: The restaurant automatically adds a 3% "owner tip" to every bill. That's unfortunate for the servers. I'm a 20% tipper, but if 3% is already going to the owner, that leaves only 17% for the staff. It seems designed to push customers toward paying cash so the owner can avoid paying income taxes, which feels outdated and unnecessary in today's world. Overall: This place is average at best. While the atmosphere and service were good, the food and pricing don't justify a return visit anytime soon. read more

I enjoyed this visit with my best friend. We arrived around 5:30 Friday evening. It went from just a few people to packed rather quickly. However, that didn't change the vibe of the place. Large screen tvs, a humming bar, and lively back porch area...I'm definitely ready for a second visit. I ordered the wings as an appetizer, lemon pepper and the house buffalo garlic. The buffalo garlic sauce is a win all alone! The only thing I would change would be the size of the wings, they were a little on the larger side. For my entree, I ordered the chicken sandwich. Fries were an added side. It was very delicious, perfectly fried and I really like the white bbq sauce on it. Didn't try cocktails this time, but looking forward to try them my next time in. We have been to Brinks four times now on three different nights of the week. For several years we have enjoyed Brinkley's but the cost prohibits going more then once or twice a month. So when Brinks opened we were excited to enjoy this quality at a more reasonable price. The first thing we noticed is that their HAMBURGERS START at $24!!! Please hear your customers...WE DONT NEED WAGU BURGERS. Just a good all beef patty cooked right is enough. Your burger price at Brinkleys was $18 and it was a great burger. Additionally we have ordered mixed drinks each visit. We thought it might've just been us who thought they were very weak. However two occasions going with different couples who made the same comment. People in our neighborhood have expressed the same frustration on the cost and weak drinks. It's a disappointing that another restaurant in NA wants to overcharge and underwhelm. read more
