She plays for a competitive level Girls 03 team and she has really benefited from the extra training and skill clinics that are offered here at Catalyst. Let's start with the skill clinics. They offer a variety of skill clinics nearly every day of the week and they rotate monthly so your child does not get in a rut. The coaching staff is extremely knowledgeable and they each a different skill set. They really care about these kids and offer an excellent balance of enthusiasm and support while "pushing" them in an appropriate manner. They treat each child with respect regardless of ability and longevity of play. The clinics are split by age groups so my daughter is always challenged by peers her own age. They keep the classes small and give a lot of one on one attention. Private lessons are available and the old adage of "you get what you pay for" rings true. The privates aren't cheap but are well worth it. The private trainers are well rounded in their knowledge and will work on what your child needs to and not try to just sell package deals. We are on a pretty tight budget but the privates are well worth the extra money. My daughter is currently working with Kathleen on her running form and just a couple of tiny tweaks have taken her game to a whole new level. His name is Captain Charles Trudersheim. I was a week out of the hospital after I nearly died in a head vs rock bodysurfing accident. You could see my shaved head with multiple staples visible and large cuts all over my legs and body. I reported his harassment and threats to SDFD and he was apparently reprimand by the top brass. Yet he still no apology or sign of remorse shown by him or and acknowledgement of the incident by the coaching staff. It's a mickey mouse league in my opinion. Not professional at all. Don't recommend if your kid is a male or has any skill.

I am writing about this recreation center specifically as the trailhead to the north end of the…read moreTecolote Canyon hiking trail. The route begins by the tennis courts and immediately descends a couple of hundred feet into a narrow canyon. From there, the journey is flat and winds southward parallel to a dried up creek bed. There is plenty of shade as you are strolling beneath foliage most of the time. After a little over 1.5 miles one way, the path intersects with Balboa Ave. You can walk roadside for several hundred yards next to the speeding traffic before traversing a crosswalk to continue towards Linda Vista and the south end of the trek. That portion contains a series of very steep hills which I have tackled before with the aid of my trekking poles. On this occasion, I turned around and completed the 3.5 mile circuit by mostly retracing the way I had taken. A healthy number of mountain bikers were on the trail at the same time I was. The width was sufficient to allow them to pass me without difficulty. I know that during the summer, many more insects are active in this area so wear repellent if you come at a warmer time of the year.
