The Hartford Insurance, they quote a great deal to hook me into the purchase of auto & home insurance (bundle pkge) after a year they raised the premiums. after I compare with other insurance providers. I quit, went back to Liberty Insurance and save over $200. the Hartford tried to penalize me with fees that were fraudulent. after I prove my innocence, they are now trying to add additional fee for not bundling. I wanted to be their client. I signed up for a small business insurance with Travelers last year... This year my contract was transferred to The Hartford. I do not know why this happened. But I assumed my automatic payments were going through. Little did I know... THEY WERE NOT. At this point I'm about 2-3 months behind on payments I thought were being paid. You think you would get a call explaining the situation. NOPE. I discovered my policy was cancelled by accidentally finding an email explaining so. When I called and asked their rep "why did no one call to explain?", he said "we don't do phone calls. We communicate via email and you have our website to log into. (CURSE WORD-Use your imagination) How often do you think I'm going to log into your website? How often do you think I'll be looking for your emails? This is an insurance deal. PAY AND FORGET IT. This is how it works. This isn't some subscription into some entertainment site. I have no intention to log in to your website... EVER. But if someone had called and explained I need to in order to set up a payment process, I would have considered it. They should have done their due diligence to CONTACT their clients to inform them of any existing issues, like payment processing. WTF?! An email DOES NOT CUT IT! Their representative are rude. They gave me a good quote to reel me in and then hike my rate 10% more than Liberty Ins which I had previously. I canceled and now they want to charge me a month fee. They are horrible. Do not be persuaded to go cheaper its not worth the risk and savings. You pay for membership that goes up each year. read more

The worst company to deal with when it comes down to repairs and customer service. One of there insured decided it would be a good idea to rear end me. This happened in October it is now almost December and my car is still not fixed nor have they tried to help me out, all of there recommended shops apparently don't work on rebuilt title. Austin C. I've had the Hartford as my insurance company for about six seven years now. I needed Rose aside assistance today. The 10:30 this morning it is there 2:00 in the afternoon and the tow truck is still not showing up because the Hartford keeps messing it up. It's not the tow truck driver it's not the tow truck company it's the Hartford you can't see you get the tow truck dispatched correctly. As soon as I can I will find another insurance company and I recommend everybody doing this. To leave a senior citizen who is disabled on the side of the road for all these hours is unacceptable. read more

We got our car insurance through AARP/Hartford and it was fine for a lot of years, saving quite a bit over our old policy. Then the premium started going up and up and up every year - for a 20 year old car and an 8 year old car. The last premium increase (2023) was $450! I sold my 20 year old car (wasn't driving it much at all) and the insurance premium went up over $400 on the remaining car! The excuse - now 2 people would be driving the remaining car. The thing is, I'd always been named as the second driver on that car. Nothing had changed. Hartford customer service basically told us "it is what it is" and nothing could be done. I've tried to send a complaint to AARP, but can't see any way to do so. Their relationship with Hartford to "help" older people now seems to be a joke. We now insure the car with the company that carries our house insurance. For basically the same coverage, we're paying over $800 less per year and also saved over $300 on our house insurance (just got the refund check). read more

They are awful! We had a claim and had no communication from the adjustor, Kayleigh. She was very rude. The way that my claim was handled was horrible. How she made the determination of who was at fault was premature and incomplete. They did this without talking to the other driver and it caused my insurance to go up exorbitantly. I'm disgusted how they treat a policy holder! With 45 days left with my policy, I informed them I would not be renewing. They immediately removed me from my online account. The police said I had the right of way etc. but Kayla Jennings refuses to respond to any calls So I had to get my lawyer involved now that Bill is up to almost $8k. Have been with Hartford for 5 or so years.. Spent 40 with Allstate and prices went through the roof.. Hartford was GREAT, then we moved to Arizona from California.. Transferred and had insurance on our home, two cars and an RV.. Again all was great.. Then on Wednesday, August 23, we received a cancel notice for our Home.. Saying it have broken roof tiles, and was vacant. They said the inspection was done Aug 7, 2023. We purchased the insurance in December, before we moved into the home. We put 80 thousand dollars into the home, new roof, new windows, carpet, tile, back yard redone, and front landscaping redone.. I asked if we could send new pictures, bills for the work done, and copies of gas, electric, and water bills. Hartford said NOPE.. The cancellation stands.. I did receive a copy of the inspection report, with pictures.. The pictures were BEFORE we had the work done, not Aug 7.. They committed some sort of non truths here.. Worst people I've talked to in a long time. The agent I was working with Richard Rodriguez was so slow at returning my calls. It took him two weeks or more to return my call each time I called. And then wasted my time by telling me to go to different shops, and get different estimates. Meanwhile, Hartford uses their own adjuster to get estimates. And then I was told that they were no longer paying for my rental even though my car was still in the body shop. by the way, this was 12 days after they had already stopped paying so then I was stuck with a $400 bill from the rental car company. I asked to speak with his supervisor Cindy Vivoli, who was just as horrible as he was. Stated that this was out of her control and that I should go work it out with my own insurance company. My accident was in February. It is now May and I am still struggling with Hartford to get resolution. I requested to speak with Cindy's supervisor and it's been a week and a half and I have yet to hear back from anyone at Hartford. I would never use this company under any circumstances, and I would absolutely never recommend them to my worst enemy. read more

After ten years of loyalty we were cancelled when my husbands wallet was stolen and he cancelled the credit card that was connected with the account. No reach out by Hartford whatsoever regarding late payment. When my husband explained the situation their response was, "not our problem." They wouldn't bridge the gap or insure us further. Beware! Nice company until you file a claim. I haven't had my car for over one month, but Tyler in claims could care less. Policy and procedure comes before customers everytime. I had a unique sort of damage to my car that their "recommended" shop could not have done as their shop is a Ford dealership and my repair required Hyunda PC boards and specialized software. While it was a complex repair, I could have received my car in about 3.5 weeks had they been at all interested in either my car being properly repaired or my receiving my car in a timely manner. Instead Tyler insists on not allowing reimbursement to me, but to send checks through the current dysfunctional US mail. So far, one check has already been lost. The post office promises to make NO effort whatsoever to deliver non-local checks. It is now close to six weeks, repaired car sitting in a parking lot. I'm annoyed, the Hyundai dealer is frustrated. No date as to when the check may show up and Hartford could care less as long as their outdated, inefficient, and customer-ignorant policy is followed. Who cares about me? We have been with The Hartford (AARP) for almost 17 years. And we have always been satisfied with the amount of premium paid, repair for one accident (10 years ago), etc. We have had several policies over the years - home, multiple autos, golf cart, etc. This all changed yesterday when I opened our renewal notice for the coming year. We have been accessed a 59% increase on our auto - no claims, no tickets, no accidents - our crime for such an increase? We turned 72 years old. Evidently, the company feels we are acceptable drivers and insurance risks at the tender age of 71 years, 364 days but the minute we both turned 72 - we are no longer neither. Of course I called, and the nice company rep reran everything again, just to make sure because SHE had never seen that kind of an increase without a contributing factor!!! She could (would) not give me an answer - of course not, because the company would not be happy if she acknowledged AGE DISCRIMINATION. This is a company that targets older drivers, markets to the same demographics, and then turns around and screws you up the wazoo!!!! I am beyond livid. So, my advice is: just be aware they are happy to insure you, take your money but don't get OLDER because then they don't want you anymore unless you submit to their exhortation!!!! read more

They auto insurance side of this company is very good. But if you get injured during an accident they will treat you horribly and they have accused me of lying. Now not only can I do the things I used to do before the accident, I am treated like a liar and very upset. They also told me to get an MRI and no need to get a reference number, then told me they weren't going to pay it. Not a good company read more

I had my auto and home insurance with a big California-based company for years. Recently, though, their premiums have been rising, even though I have no accidents, no tickets, no claims, have completed safe driver training course, own my home, have a credit score of 800+, have a monitored alarm system, dead bolts, fire extinguishers, etc. When I questioned that company last year, all the rep could tell me is that they were paying a lot of claims in CA and that was raising rates for everyone--and I have heard the same complaint about that company from several of my neighbors. I shopped around online for about an hour and then followed up by phone with a live rep in order to get specific comparisons for auto/home policies with The Hartford. The result? Higher coverage limits and lower premiums, based on my history. Also, you get right through to a live person when calling the 800#--no lengthy "press this # for sales, claims, customer service...". Made the switch and saved $700 per year! Nice people. read more
