I got there around 6 on a Monday hoping it wasn't going to be too busy (the weather is nice and usually she's busy) when I arrived there was just one other person there and I didn't have to wait at all. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she said yes they can do that.I had a good head massage when my hair was washed which was a plus. Once washed ( my hair smelled heavenly) she went right to work. In about an hour (maybe less) my hair was done. She even pinned it up for me so that I could sleep without it getting messed up. Hair aside, because we all know she does a great job, the salon is clean and neat. Its next door to a laundromat and a corner store. Her prices are good ( I spent $35 not including tip) I can always count on this salon to be opened. She's opened early and closed late. The salon is also opened everyday. Today I had the displeasure of experiencing a very rude & belligerent customer while getting my hair done. A woman (who's race I will not mention) came in the salon and complained from the moment she walked in. I chalked It up to her having a bad day. She made very rude and distasteful comments towards her stylist and the stylist remained professional. She was then given a new stylist and complained about the stylist not knowing how to do "straight Japanese hair because this is not a Japanese salon". She then began to made very insensitive comments about African Americans and black owned businesses. As an African American I was highly offended and mortified that someone would behave in this manner. Although she behaved the way she did, the stylists and owner remained very professional and did not stoop down to her level. When It came time to pay for the service she received she complained about the price (that she was quoted online when she made the appointment and in person when she walked in). She then refused to pay for the service she received which led to the owner to threaten to call the police. The woman became very belligerent as she was asked to leave and shouted many racist slurs on her way out of the door as myself and other salon customers were in shock. Safe to say after taking a brief breather, the owner finished my hair and SLAYED as she always does. I commend her for remaining cool and collected in a very negative situation. I was seated immediately and the nail tech started my nails. The prices are great, along with their customer service. They can do lots of designs, whether it's from a photo inspiration, or freestyle. The only thing holding me back was my mess of hair. I had put off doing color, cut, extensions. ..EVERYTHING and it showed. I ran to Yelp & Google looking for a salon with positive reviews and Sunday hours. It seemed like everyone in Brooklyn/ Queens area was closed, closing or "too booked" to even let me finish asking for an appointment. I was getting pretty discouraged until I found Adorn Salon .Wow ! Talk about good luck ..I couldn't have asked for more professional and kind treatment from the first call until I left the salon later that day. I was invited in that same day with no problem about it being a Sunday afternoon. The salon itself was nicely decorated, clean and roomy with a nice positive vibe. Very friendly & comfortable. Gina and Princess were both excellent hair artists and worked well together to make my experience at Adorn perfect in every way. I got my hair trimmed & colored and loved it. Then my hair extensions got colored two gorgeous shades that matched my hair perfectly (Gina, you're amazing). The extensions were sewn in quickly, painlessly and flawless by Princess ! Im writing this 3 weeks later & the extensions are still lookin great. Amazing. The staff and other customers in the salon all made the time fly by with good conversation and humor.
