I have been happy with this Program and it has worked relatively well for me. I am gluten intolerant and the food is gluten free. Also I'm type 2 diabetic which causes the weight loss to be slower because of added carbs in the diet . I have lost weight but not at goal. The best result has been lowering my A1C significantly and resulted in less medication. I plan to continue until I reach my goal. I have been going to the Fairfax office for a little over a year and have lost 80 pounds. The program has been a small miracle for me as I've done weight watchers (great, but I gained it back), and have seen two nutritionists with very minor success. This program is based on sound science and it works! It takes self-discipline, but the more progress I saw, the more disciplined I became. I have become a chronic label reader and now find it easy to reject products that are high in sugar or carbs as just not worth it. The key here is a diet rich in plant-based protein products, very limited carbohydrates, including sugar, and lean proteins. But the coaching is critical as well and Jody is a real cheerleader for your success! I couldn't have done it without her and will continue to take advantage of her availability after I reach my goal, which is a mere 6 pounds away. She was always available to answer questions and helped me develop strategies for business travel, vacations, and special occasions. As a result, I stayed on course and couldn't be happier. I am no longer pre-diabetic and have eliminated one blood pressure medication and cut the second one to a minimal dose. My sleep apnea has also been reversed. Is there a cost? Yes, but remember that the products replace some of your grocery costs. And think of the medical costs that can be minimized or eliminated when you reverse obesity! It worked for me I am 62 years old was 60 lbs overweight. My blood pressure was in the 140s/90s range, I was tiptoeing the line to type-2 diabetes and my LDL/cholesterol was out of control. I found 'The Healthy Weigh Now' to be an excellent way to lose weight in a healthy and efficient manner. I lost 20 pounds in less than three months, and, most importantly, have managed to maintain a much healthier weight for more than two years. For many years I was overweight, suffered from elevated blood pressure, and never followed a truly healthy diet. This, coupled with a sedentary lifestyle, resulted in my having a mild heart attack 5 years ago. Following this life changing event I did initially lose weight by severely restricting my food intake. I started my weight loss & healthy eating journey about two months ago. I see Jody at the Fairfax location (Hamaker Ct) on a weekly basis. Our meetings are inspirational and motivational for me. I have learned quite a lot about portioning food and with breakfast & lunch entree being two meals I purchase from them, it has cut down our cooking time in half. A friend of mine joined this program and it was highly recommended for me by her. I had to get some things squared away in my personal life before taking on a weight loss commitment so I looked forward to joining the program all last summer and into the fall. Boy was I disappointed! I went to the seminar. This program is touted as a gluten free program, throughout their website. As someone diagnosed with celiac disease, the only prescription for which is a gluten free diet, I thought this was perfect for me. I was told at the seminar and sign-up meeting that this program is contraindicated for people with celiac disease! Well, this tells me that they are not willing to stand behind their claims that their products are gluten free - fine, then don't advertise them as such! This is false advertising and unethical to say the least! I would not join a program that doesn't have the integrity to stand behind it's own advertising claims and products. I ended up joining Physicians Weight Loss Centers - MUCH better! The program is first of all, ethical, and it is completely physician supervised. You are given a complete blood panel when you began the program and then again when you hit your goal weight. You get a B12 shot once a week and a B6 shot if you elect to do that at a small additional cost and you meet with a physician to review your blood work when you begin the program. As the New Year starts and people are searching for a weight loss program that fits their needs, I wanted to share my experience with The Healthy Weigh Now (THWN). One thing I found was that there were not a lot of reviews out there for off the beaten path programs. I needed to lose quite a bit of weight and I had been hearing one advertised on the radio a lot (not THWN). After the initial body assessment (which I paid $35 for), it became all about the money to that company. In order to lose the amount of weight I needed to lose, I needed to cough up $5K now and got the heavy sell. I said no and came home crying to my husband about it and he told me that his cardiologist had told him that he had a weight loss program (THWN) and suggested we find out more. I did look at the reviews but they didn't tell me a lot (though one gave me a tip which I'll touch upon later). I finally went to a seminar in late Sept 2018. It wasn't the heavy investment that the other one was requiring. I came in on a Back to School special and the enrollment fee also included my first week of food as well as the supplements. I was going on vacation in Oct. so I ended up starting the program on 10/22/18 and I haven't regretted it one bit. Before I get into the nuts and bolts about the program, I have lost 77 pounds total. But it's not about that number but also my fat mass, my BMI, my lean muscle mass and my hydration numbers. This program is about high protein, low fat and low carb and you eat foods that you purchase weekly. I believe they have a three box minimum each week but since I liked variety and didn't know what I might want, I found myself ordering more than three boxes some weeks. Also, you will be taking supplements as part of the program. I was all in. So I'll start with the food. You will eat their protein at breakfast and lunch. When I started, all of the products were gluten free so the selection was a little bit limiting. You had different flavors of shakes to choose from, different drinks (the hot chocolate is one of my faves), some savory options such as the soups, vegetarian chili and a vegetable curry or sloppy joe. They also had cereals, oatmeals, puddings (that can also be made as shakes), some chip options and protein bar options (however, those were limited to once a day because they have a higher carb count. Now they have products with gluten and that has expanded their line if you do not have a gluten issue. This has added more variety of soups (Chicken Noodle), pastas, wafer cookies, additional chip type options, gelatin, drinks and my favorite--pancakes (the chocolate chip -- yum). As part of lunch, you eat a salad (Walden Farms dressings help but they are an acquired taste) and 2 cups of veggies. For dinner, you have your own lean protein and another salad and veggies. Truth be told, I think I pretty much had a salad at lunch and the veggies at dinner. My end of day treat was my protein bar. You also take supplements twice a day -- lunch and dinner. And I never strayed. I didn't because every week, I saw results, not just on the scale but in the other numbers I mentioned. I made it through the holidays, birthdays, vacations and special events. If we were going out to dinner, I would check out the menu prior to going to see what I could have. Alcohol is off limits. I am a wine drinker and I thought that I would miss it but I knew eventually I could have it back in my life in moderation. You will probably be a little edgy or have headaches for the first few days. This is your body going into Ketosis -- fat burning mode. I didn't experience it that bad and I gave up caffeine the same day I started. I actually found that I slept better and woke up feeling rested. I have had more energy since I have followed this plan. So now to the coaching. I will say the one tip I got from a negative review on this was that you make your appointments in advance. I'd usually set up three months worth of appointments at a time. I like first thing on Sat. and I never had an issue getting the time I wanted. I have worked with several coaches: Jeanmarie, Jodi, Adrienne. They always spent time with me giving me tips, talking through my numbers, taking my blood pressure, making sure I wasn't having any issues. Every person I have encountered at the Reston office has been super helpful, caring and friendly. As for exercise...I haven't incorporated it into my life. I walk a fair amount so that covered me. Fast forward to 14 months later, I have completed Phase 1 and Phase 2 (where you slowly incorporate foods back). Phase 2 is 8 weeks and each week you add something back and begin to take away their products. I am now in maintenance and made it through the holidays staying on plan and even having a few glasses of wine. Outstanding Program! My Diabetes 2 was out of control, blood pressure and cholesterol were so high I was on medication. Doctor said I was a prime candidate for a stroke. The program when followed does help you loose the weight. I only wanted 20 pounds and it was a little difficult at first. Was feeling spaced for a couple of days but that is the sugar and the carbs are going out of you body. Got a good counselor. I brought a lot of food ideas to them. Milk I used was Fairlife low fat and 15 grams of protein. Also had lot of veggies and low carb snacks available. I must say that at times I was a little hungry but that would pass. This weight loss program works if you can stick to it. However be prepared to be treated like a number from the moment you walk in the door. Upfront these people want you to pay $300 - $400 (admin fee), and after, you will pay every week approximately double for food that you can get on Amazon for less than 1/2 of what they're charging (FYI: Food will run you $100 a week here, plus vitamins are another $100 every month). When your appointments run out (you make them for the same time, months at a time), they will not tell you in advance because despite how much money you've paid for administrative fees, they do not have a solid system of record-keeping, and choose not to invest in one. When I tried to talk to the Head Lady In Charge (Nancy) to share that I was unhappy with being unceremoniously booted off of a schedule I'd been on for months, and could actually keep, she cut me off, and gave me this whole song and dance about how they have TOO many people to keep track of. I told her other medical places must utilize different software, and that I strongly felt this was a program shortcoming. Perhaps unsurprisingly, she gets even more unpleasant and talks about me in the tiny, tiny room we were in as though I wasn't even there - instructing the coach to make notes that THEY need to take responsibility for me/my appointments because I'm NOT... I told her that that wasn't my point and that I knew now when my next block of appointments ran out (only takes once, thanks), but she just repeated it again, as though I wasn't there -- Are you serious? How rude!. Needless to say, the customer service here leaves a lot to be desired. I'd love to know what all that money I pay for goes into, because it certainly isn't for administrative support of any kind, functional software with basic components like alerts, enough new coaching staff to handle their numbers, or even customer service training (I'm looking at you, negative Nancy). What a racket!!! I am going to look for other programs to take - but with so much time and money already sunk into this one, I'm not sure how it will go. Again, this system works if you can stick to it and are prepared to be treated like a number. I hope you have better luck than I have so far... other coaches like Michelle and Jean are super nice/supportive. However, with such a negative manager, I hope they can persevere. read more

Their weight loss program works. In just about 6 months I've lost upwards of 70 pounds and am now close to my target weight; no longer take any medication for diabetes; and am wearing clothes I hadn't fit into in 20 years (hopefully, tan khakis never go out of style). Because I had worried about going on a super quick weight loss diet, I checked with a couple of health care professionals I have a lot of respect for before signing up. Much to my surprise not only did both of them vouch for the program, but both said they had gone through the program themselves and had kept the weight off since then. Their endorsement was good enough for me. I don't know if this program is easier or harder than others. This is the first diet I've ever really done. But I can say that I've not had too much trouble sticking to the guidelines. The staff gets a lot of credit for that. The third or fourth week into the program, my coach had me add a bit more protein to my lunch because there were indications, she said, that I was losing muscle mass instead of fat mass only. (I have to say that her suggestion was music to my ears. Who wouldn't like to be encouraged to eat more in order to lose fat?) Since then she has made other, similar kinds of tweaks to make this process as efficient and as easy as possible. She also gave me some recipes for the vegetables when I complained of getting bored with the food, suggested new stuff for me to eat (I'd never even heard of nutritional yeast), and emailed me the URL for ordering the world's best salmon from an outfit in Alaska. I have been so happy with the Healthy Weigh Now. I've lost 50 pounds in four months. I've been on MANY diets in the past and have never had this kind of success. While I don't love the program food (I am a picky eater), I was able to find enough good choices to make it work for me. I think the staff is wonderful--coaches who really understand the program and understand the physical and emotional issues surrounding weight and weight loss. I lost 42 pounds, reached my goal and completed "Level 1" between 9/8/2018 and 12/14/2018. I started at 215.8 and as I write this review, I weigh 173.8 pounds. Yep. That's right. 42 pounds. That's the weight of 3 bowling balls my body no longer has to support and carry around. How did I do it? I didn't. I simply surrendered. I gave up on the idea that, "I know more than they do." If you're willing to admit that, then you can enjoy the same level of success.
