Excellent procedure; the doctor and procedure staff spent quality time with my wife and I on my sensitivity to sedation. HOWEVER, I also had a problem with the $500 up front deposit. I sense that the majority pay it without questioning as I did with my HSA card. I spoke to my Cigna insurance, they informed me that the $500 should be refunded. After numerous texts and telephone "exchanges" I had to return in person to get the $500 refund. I would not be surprised if a significant number of patients are unaware that their insurance company likely pays most of the coloscopy charges as it is preventive and that they should not pay in the first place and if they did pay, are entitled to a refund. The reviews about the front desk are similar to my experience. Without asking my name, she placed a wristband on me. You can tell she does not like being there and does not like her lunch being interrupted, yet she is the initial impression and the face of the practice. I never understood the explanation of what was the required $500 deposit for my colonscopy procedure if I had my private health insurance coverage. I paid it anyway because, as the practice explained, I will get it back in 3 months. I got it back after countless of follow ups, phone calls, and emails to their billing office. It was frustrating and stressful. Paying a high premium for health insurance is frustrating enough but this experience pushed that frustration to a whole new level! One proactive thing that worked for me is I reached out to my health insurance provider for help who gladly intervened on my behalf. After working with my health insurance benefits specialist and staying on top of phone calls and emails, I finally got my check but was $30 short of the $500 deposit I put down with no explanation of what the extra charge was for, even when I tried to get one. Based on my direct consumer experience, I absolutely do not recommend Advanced Medical G.I., P.C.. I am sharing this review to ensure transparency for future patients and to provide an accurate record of the severe administrative challenges I faced. Following a lengthy dispute over an unreturned advance payment--during which I experienced repeated communication delays, I was forced to seek a legal remedy. I filed a formal civil claim against this practice in the Fairfax County General District Court. On June 26, 2026, the court officially entered a binding Default Judgment in my favor against Advanced Medical G.I., P.C. The court ordered the practice to pay the principal disputed amount of $500.00, plus my legal court costs and an ongoing 6% interest award. I sincerely hope that other patients do not encounter the same difficulties I experienced while attempting to resolve this billing matter. In my opinion, a patient should not have to file a lawsuit to recover funds that the court ultimately ordered be paid. While I am glad the Virginia legal system issued an order to refund my money, the stress I experienced prior to the court date were entirely unnecessary. Based on this experience, I would choose another provider in the future. For anyone considering this practice, I recommend maintaining copies of receipts, payment records, and all communications regarding billing matters. While the care received by my fiancé was fine - the billing department is a nightmare. He has called many times to get the $500 deposit back for his EGD. They continually tell him they will look into it or do not call back at all. He has called his insurance company many times to ensure that they have paid the practice and they confirm that it was paid shortly after the procedure. If I could leave a negative star ratting I would. The shadiest billing practices I have seen. When I come in for procedures, I have always gotten a lower and upper GI scope done my insurance paid for both. I usually have a small amount out of pocket. Somehow the billing department has charge me $1000 out of pocket that I can already see will be an uphill battle to receive a refund. From the doctor side of the house one of the most unprofessional doctors I have come across. After the procedure I ask a simple question about the finding. A simple if you lose some weight this will help with your condition would have been the professional answer. Received a call from Shae Roth in 10/2024 where she apologized for the error and wrote my balance to $0 if I updated my Yelp review... Which I would do if they would stop submitting claims to my insurance company. A claim with date of service of 2/27/2025 was submitted on 3/5/2025 and another claim with date of service 4/4/2025 was submitted 4/10/2025. As experienced by other patients, they took $500 for my husband's Colonoscopy Screening in March 2025, even though there is no deductible. We only found out about the $500 once we were in the office and he had already done the prep. The insurance company processed the claim within weeks and the explanation of benefits came back with $0 patient responsibility. I had to call them in September to see where the $500 refund was. I got a text in early October to say it was "being processed" and as of November 2, 2025 have not received a refund. They do not answer calls or respond to texts. The Billing Dept is very worst. The facility collects $500 upfront even though insurance covers 100%. They submit the claims to Insurance with different names for the same service which is double billing and will send the bills to pay again. I have been calling last one year for the refund $500 more than 20 times and left the voice messages as they don't pickup the phone and don't respond for the voice messages. In case if you reach someone, they just lie by saying the refund is in process. Basically they don't refund your money.... I went to get a colonoscopy early October and had to pay a $500 deposit per the documentation, which also states that you will receive your deposit back if you have met your deductible or whatever the difference is between your deductible balance and the $500. Although I had already met my deductible at the time of my procedure, they still took the $500. I am so shocked at their behaviour that their client wants to pay their due and they are not responding. Finally after 2 months of struggle I got a website to pay online which totally looked suspicious cause it didn't ask for my bill no., account no. like a legit payment website of medical industry would ask... From beginning to end, my experience with Advanced Medical GI was excellent. At their Reston office, the patient care coordinator, Charlotte, was kind and extremely patient, even taking my blood pressure readings three times. I also met with Dr. Blosser, who was courteous and professional, and recommended a colonoscopy. Brianna, the patient care administrator, completed the paperwork quickly and efficiently, and followed up with an email. My colonoscopy was performed at Stone Springs Hospital Center, where the staff was also excellent. The attending nurse, Cassandra, was professional and caring, and her joyful sense of humor made me feel very relaxed. Dr. Blosser came to see me after the procedure and shared the results. I can see that I am not alone in the issues that I've experienced with Advanced Medical GI(AM). First of all Dr Blosser is the most arrogant and non-caring physician I have ever dealt with. As I am laying on the table he is arguing with me about findings from prior procedures and also about the medical history I provided. He also didn't even mention the diverticulosis in the report following the procedure which is the main reason I have the procedures every 1-3 years to begin with. He stated on a call with me that everyone my age has diverticulosis and it is not an issue. Well it is a big issue for me and given I've been having the same procedure at the facility for 20+ years you would think he would have access to review these records prior to the procedure. This is all before I get to the below poor customer service provided by Shae Roth and the office staff at AM. They charged my credit card for $500 even though the paperwork I signed told me that my card would not be charged unless there was a no show or cancellation. They then scheduled me to have the procedure at a facility that was not in network with my insurance even though I specifically asked if the facility was in network before completing all the pre-procedure paperwork. Shae Roth advised me that the facility charge would be written off due to their negligence on sending me to one facility when I could have easily had the procedure done at another facility that was in network. Then the cherry on top is that I received a collection letter this week for charges due to AM based on their own inability to send patients to the proper facility. Before this practice became AM they had so many good doctors that one could choose to go see. Now they have all left and AM is only one doctor. I should have trusted my gut and followed Dr Hani Sabahi to his new practice instead of going here. Seems they are just collecting peoples $500 deposits (probably something that needs to be reviewed further) and providing below standard care. read more

When I called to say I would be 15 minutes late for my pre-colonoscopy consultation I was told they were canceling my appt., charging me $300, and I would have to pay this amount upfront before being seen. If you find a good provider, be sure to rate them here on Yelp so that we aren't just making lists of places to avoid. It shouldn't take three calls on initial contact to try to schedule a colonoscopy, but it did here. They're either disorganized or too busy to properly support a basic function - a new patient with a referral for a routine colonoscopy. Either way, I won't be one to burden them further at risk to my health. I called the number on my referral and was given a different number. The other number had a recording telling me to call the receptionist but did not give the number. I had to assume it was the first number. Then it was either wait for a month for an appointment or wait for a packet in the mail that will take weeks to process. read more

I called this practice a few times to make an appointment before someone finally answered and gave me another phone number to call. I called this number and was told to download and fill out some forms and submit them via fax or email. I did email the forms but received no receipt confirmation. I called a couple of times a few days later and was told that they received the forms and someone will contact me two weeks later. They did not. It has been more than a month and I am still waiting for a response. I sent them an email two days ago asking for a clarification but guess what? No one cared to reply. I have been with this gastroenterologists group for years and had varying degrees of useful help. Invariably, my experience with the office in Reston has been very negative.
