We went to Deaconess Gateway Emergency Friday when his truck ran over his arm. He had stitched and…read more2 broken fingers. The people were great. Brought X-ray machine to him in the room. We were there for about 4 hours. *But they referred him to Dr Green, a hand specialist, for Monday August 26,2024. we called the office, they couldn't get him in until Tuesday September 3rd. It didn't feel right. the ER told us that he should be seen today, Monday. TheER put a temporary cast on and his pinky finger was not set, because it had too many fractures. The ER told us it would require a hand specialist. He would have to have a pin or wire to fix the pinky. I was not comfortable with waiting a week and a half before it would be fixed Plus the cast was a temporary one and this Dr Green would put a permanent cast on. I called Orthopedic Associates they wouldn't see him. Because he was referred to Green. So I called Tristate Orthopedics they said come on in. So Dr Perry's assistant set the finger without using any pins or wires. And put a splint on it, and it's fine! shoooe wee! glad that's over. *

My ex-husband had our daughter take him to Deaconess E.R. because he was in severe pain. They did a…read moreCT scan and found multiple large lesions on his lungs, liver, and kidneys. They refused to give him any pain medications and discharged him with instructions to come back in a few days for a biopsy. My daughter is a registered nurse, and I worked as a CNA. We know that it was cancer. He was in the final stages. My daughter took him to Baptist Health in Louisville, where they immediately admitted him and put him on pain management because he passed away less than a week later from small-cell lung cancer. Which is highly aggressive. I have never seen such cruelty from a hospital like Deaconess. I will never go to that hospital again! People in the state of Indiana complain about the quality of healthcare in this state. Now I know why. I would not recommend anyone to move here or to use Deaconess. I was in the Midtown Deaconess Hospital because my heart was out of rhythm. I have atrial fib, a heart arrhythmia. When I was in there, one of the nurse aides asked me if I had ordered dinner yet, and I said no. She snapped at me by saying, "Well, order it!" I told my nurse, who came in later, that I did not want that aide in my room again. If I did that to a patient at the hospital I worked at, I would have been fired!

My husband has been a patient admitted here three times in three months because they kept…read moredischarging him before he was healthy enough to go home. This hospital failed him on so many levels. They failed to set up aftercare (doctors' appointments/referrals, imaging, continuing medications) properly, which meant he waited too long for care, went without proper medication treatments, and ended up with worsening diagnoses each time. He now has permanent damage to the organ affected. We were assured by a doctor that he would be sent home with proper pain control and that was also another failure on their part. They have some good nurses and techs. However, we experienced total negligence, belittling, and rudeness from some of their RNs. I am a nurse myself and had I not fought for his discharge orders, this hospital would have sent him home yet again, with improper and lacking aftercare. I honestly worry about any patient put in their care now. I will make sure none of my loved ones ever come here, which is sad because my mother worked here for 20 years and I've been a lifelong Deaconess client. Please look at their reviews, sadly, we are not the only family this hospital has neglected or failed.

This "place" is the absolute worst, most unprofessionally, unethically run, "place" we have ever encountered and never ever will again. Since our experience, we've heard numerous other horror stories from others that have experienced horrific care (?) in this "place". We literally and physically REMOVED my loved one from here and brought them to a REAL hospital where in 5 days, (and then was able to go home!) they had everything turned around in the right direction and did what this "place" could not not do in over 3 1/2 weeks...3 1/2 weeks!!! They suck off the MEDICARE is what they do and keep the patient drugged to not know anything then diagnose as, confused, etc, etc. The tie down stories are real when you read of others experiencing the same treatment. I witnessed it with my own eyes. They give anti-psychotic meds, sedatives and pain killers, because they don't know how nor do they care how, to properly treat the patients. They administer these drugs so they don't have to deal with them...just knock them out and keep the patient drugged up! Mine would literally call me screaming, "Get me out of here, NOW! They're just keeping me drugged!" IT'S ALL ABOUT SUCKING OFF THE MEDICARE AND THE INSURANCES. A worker even mentioned that! I am telling you...IT IS BEYOND YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE TO BRING AND LEAVE ANYONE HERE...PERIOD! I cannot emphasize the seriousness of this enough. What I have said is not enough! NOT EVEN WORTHY OF A ONE STAR REVIEW!

We thought that since he had multiple back surgeries that it might be the cause of the pain. He was a smoker and had a clear x-ray of his lungs just this past February. They did a CT scan on him and he had cancer that had spread to his liver, kidneys, and bones. They did not give him anything for pain! When you are in stage 4 cancer you are in major pain! They did nothing for him and released him to do a biopsy the following week! That is heartless and cruel! My daughter took him to Baptist Health in Louisville where he was admitted and given pain management. He passed less than two weeks later. Do you know of anyone that can pass peacefully from cancer without pain management? I haven't met a person that could do that. I am not someone that knows nothing of the medical field, I worked for 10 years as a nurse aide and my youngest has her master's in nursing so we are not totally ignorant of the medical field. I guess they didn't want to admit him because he owed them money. I have never seen such cruelty from a hospital like this. Now I know why people in this state complain about the quality of healthcare.
