I am from outof town. This place is great! This is a down to earth bar! If u want to come in and be a jerk off. Don't expect the best. The people here have been great. Ordered wings and mushrooms. They were good. Beer was cold. So was my Jack Daniel's Jack fire. I had a great bar tender named Tenaj!!

Okay, what can you say about the best dive bar in town. We were in town for the Kool April night event this past weekend. Five of us guys were looking for a place to go after the drag races earlier that night. We went to another establishment, and it was okay, but not a lot of fun. We asked what is hip and were sent to THE HEN HOUSE. ( What a kick in the ass place) A 3 dollar cover was fine. We go in, met a guy name Darryl, had had a great time. Darryl was great to talk with, hooked us up on the drinks with the owner Dianna, and it was on. The bartenders working it had it going on. We were comp some drinks by the owner and just enjoyed the place. Ladies were pretty much off the hook, especially the blond 3rd seat from the end near me. The outside back and volleyball court were just melting with a good time. The Next day I was told that the car show -n-shine was a hit. Coming from San Jose, you think this town would be dead, but we were missed directed by "The others", so don't let anyone fool you. We will be back when possible. Warning: If you are military don't expect a warm welcome from the Hen House! I recommended it to my son who used his leave to travel across the world to come Visit us! He has been in the military for 7 years and hasn't enjoyed the luxury of a vacation for over three years... he was really looking forward to having fun and relaxing. We all went to the henhouse on his second night here which happened to be a week night! He only has his military ID, which is a federal ID and it should be accepted worldwide! The first night he had no problem. They accepted the military id without question. Two nights later, (also a week night) he went back and they refused his ID. They claimed they could no longer accept military ids! This is a ridiculous policy! Our military members deserve way better! How dare you disrespect our military members! If you are military don't waste your time! They don't respect your sacrifice and will treat you like trash! I wonder if they would turn away a retired veteran ID as well! Shame on you! Your management owes service members and veterans an apology! read more

This place is a joke. The blonde lady who owns it is rude and all around unpleasant. I've encountered her 3x there and she, THE OWNER, would not make my drink. The last time I went, and the reason i will NEVER go back is because my friend, who is 30 yrs. Old, who is also a VETERAN, was not allowed in bcuz he didnt have his California i.d. so, he showed them his MILITARY I.D. AND WAS STILL REFUSED! Even with a government I.D.! And they have a sign out front saying they support veterans! What a crock. I'll make sure every vet in Redding knows not to spend thier money in that thugged-out, drugged-out, crap-hole they call a bar. This place needs reported and shut down!!!! The owner Dianna is insanely rude and has no idea how to run a bar! If you are a republican and a Trump supporter, she will kick you out immediately. All the bartenders are incredibly rude and have no idea how to make mixed drinks! The owner Dianna and her bartenders are all far left liberal democrats who push their liberal agendas! This is the only bar in town without a dishwasher, they dip their glassware in soapy water behind the bar and set them out to dry and this is Dianna's way of sanitation....straight ridiculous this place should be shut down immediately!!! read more

The good old Hen House hasn't lost its glory. An excellent bartender named Shanda taken care of America's veterans--good old white boys who served the country and helped build America. It's got a nice pool table and the only outdoor bar in California I've ever seen where you can smoke. A real bar. A proper bar. You can smoke at it. Ignore the bad reviews--do yourself a favor and give this bar a try. There's something special here: respect, history, and the kind of atmosphere you just don't find anymore. Cover charge? Really? Sorry, Hen House, but your establishment should NEVER be charging to walk through the doors. If you're a young 20-something with an itch to land a one-nighter, this place has it all - Barbie-bimbos, meth-mouth hotties and tool-deuchers galore. Warmer night are great on the back patio, and the beach volleyball is a great addition. I always hear how "great" the Hen House is, but I just fail to see the appeal.
