I just moved to redding I'm a bartender south of here, Upon coming into the bar I thought it looked cool. They have pool tables and a stage good sound system, the place is handicap friendly which is nice since one of us is wheelchair bound. We found a table and sat down. I Waited to go order our non alcoholic beverages for about 10 mins, none of us were ID, until after I ordered a juice, pitcher of root beer, and 2 waters when I ordered the water a customer said you know what to do spray her... Steve grabbed the tap and I said DO NOT SPRAY ME. HE then said don't tell me what to do and acted as if he would spray me, he then told me he could not serve me and my friends a pitcher of soda because later tonight he will be busy and need it. It's 845 and not busy, so After STEVE ran my card he choose to id one of my friends and myself. But not my other 2 friends who are younger then myself. As I stood at the bar waiting for my already poured drinks just sitting there behind the bar steve went to make other people's drinks i watched him pour 2 beers and make 2 mixed drinks before I said excuse me I said it again before reaching behind the bar and grabbing the 2 waters and cup of soda I then said excuse me a couple more times loudly and he said I will be right with you. I said can I please get my juice with grenadine. He then rudely gave me my juice. I have never been to a bar for the first time and had such a rude person as a bartender (I'm a recovering alcoholic so I've been to plenty) I feel completely discriminated against. I feel like because we have someone who is handicap and we are not drinking alcohol. (We came for karaoke) we are being discriminated against and being mistreated. This really just ruined my night and made me sad there are so many rude, hateful people.

Trashy & overpriced. The drinks are always weak & I only go there because Redding has no night life.

One of the best places in Chico to grab a drink and avoid the college crowd. I know, I know, its a…read morecollege town, don't gripe about the college kids... but holy hell its nice to hang out with the grown ups sometimes! A couple of tips for the newbie adult headed to this VIP lounge: 1) Make sure to get your booty up there prior to 9pm (after 9pm there is a $10 cover charge) 2) $10 isn't going to break the bank, I get it however, it IS a key bit of info so take it for what its worth. (Its worth ten bucks, ha!) Make sure that if you should arrive before 9, like for happy hour, and stay after 9, that your given a wrist band so you can wander from floor to floor without having to pay the entry fee 3) If you get there prior to 9pm and have a person or people you actually want to speak (and not yell at) the music is at a normal level so carrying a conversation is tres easy. Beware, after 9pm they PUMP up the volume so be prepared to yell your conversation after that time frame kicks in 4) And speaking of 'tres' this bar is tres chic, there is a ton of cozy seating, you can go find a booth which is semi private or go more public and choose a table out in the open (along with more cozy seats) 5) They have an 'L' shaped pool table, very weird but very cool and ultra different. I've never seen one quite like it anywhere else 6) The martini selection is pretty tasty (see my pix) and the prices are right up my alley (marginally priced and well worth it) 7) The absolute BEST part of my experience here at the VIP Ultra Lounge was Stephanie. The adorable, extra friendly bartender/waitress, literally, the best little thing located upstairs. Her personality ROCKED. She gave me mini tour and being that it was my first time here, while she toured, she explained all the bars (total of 4), their highlights and best times to have fun at each of them. Seriously treated me in TOTAL VIP fashion, what a gem!! The cool thing about this bar is that its connected to 3 other totally different (un-VIP, just made up that word) bars. So... if you get tired of being a snobby VIP, you can take your wasty face downstairs and kick it with the college kids. Good thing #8... if your walking sideways and acting like a drunk monkey, you'll blend right in :) Dance, scratch your butt, do a shot then fall on the floor, hey! Have a good time!

Oh I'm a sucker for a place that serves good drinks and doesn't smell like puke. Come on Chico…read more.. you know the places I'm talking about. Once you are past the cheapest drinks you can buy phase of Chico life, come up to VIP Ultra Lounge. Check 'em out during happy hour to scout if you like it without paying a cover. I enjoyed my melon mojito- with none of the stickiness or smell associated with most the venues in Chico. I get that Chico isn't used to paying much of a cover charge at all, but I'd rather pay a cover and go somewhere gorgeous, comfortable & clean. I used to love the Bear & LaSalles, but you go there after a few drinks because otherwise you'd never get past the smell and in the door. You can smell them from outside. Yuck. Other than harping on the fantasticness of a clean place- my husband has enjoyed his drinks there as well, we've had tacos and a steak/gorganzola pizza during happy hour- all good stuff. And that explains why I'm headed there in 40 minutes to celebrate the end of my work week!

For my daughter's birthday, she chose Crush in Chico, and as first impressions go... this one made…read morea strong entrance. You step inside and head upstairs, and suddenly the outside world is forgotten. It's its own little realm holding court in the heart of Chico. It is warm, inviting, and has plenty of seating, with a full cast of attentive staff, and decor that doesn't shout "Italian!" from the rooftops, but is very hipster whispering with confidence. We opened with the lamb appetizer, and I'll admit this with measured humility... it rivaled my own. Tender, well-seasoned, and not a trace of that gamey nonsense. The Brussels sprouts followed suit, crisped just right, delivering that perfect bite between char and flavor. The bread and dipping combo? Let's just say restraint was not my strong suit. A few pizzas passed by like temptation itself, and every one of us took notice. Plans were made... our future visit in the works. For the mains, the birthday girl claimed the ribeye, and it arrived exactly as it should... cooked to perfection, with potatoes that could quietly steal the show if you weren't paying attention. Her boyfriend and I, in a moment of questionable maturity, settled our fate with Rochambeau. He emerged victorious and took the crispy chicken breast with gnocchi, a dish generous enough to test even a committed appetite. I went with the short rib ragu, rich and comforting, the kind of plate that doesn't need explaining. The drink selection holds its own, and the dessert menu read like a final act worth staying for... but we were defeated in the best possible way and bowed out early. Service never missed a beat. Present, attentive, and smooth from start to finish. Parking, as with most things in downtown Chico, requires a bit of patience and perhaps a small offering to the parking gods. But once inside, it's quickly forgotten. All told, a night well spent. Good food, good company, and a place that knows exactly what it's doing without needing to announce it. We'll be back... if only to answer the question those passing pizzas left behind.
