Cute location and great music in the cafe, but I wasn't that impressed with their latte. It was a little heavy on the milk but otherwise I enjoyed my experience there. I really like how they come in different mugs. Keep in mind it's a smaller space so it took my friend and I about 30 minutes to find a seat inside after some customers left. Although once we were seated, we were able to be be productive--but otherwise I would recommend this cafe for leisure over studying! read more

Friend introduced me to this cafe and it was a fairytale delight! Interior is the cutest with rows of books, disco ball, and plants inside. There's only one large, community-style table with about 8-10 seats, so it can be good for working if you can grab a seat. They also have outdoor seats in front of a large field, perfect for kids, doggos, and just being with friends! This is hands down one of the best cafes I have visited in the Bay Area! The vibe is ultra cute. It's located by the side of a park in this brownstone building with huge open windows and a bubble machine blowing cute little bubbles into the air. The staff is very friendly and understanding. We weren't able to pick up our drinks in time since we couldn't hear them call our names out and the barista immediately made us new fresh hot ones to replace them, without us even asking for this. This is some really considerate customer service! Will always come back here when in Berkeley. read more

Came here on a whim and not regretting it at all! My girlfriend and I swung by on a rainy Saturday morning and immediately felt welcomed into the environment. The place was a bit cramped and surprisingly crowded, but the chatter was a nice compliment to the communal vibes of the cafe. Our drinks came out quickly and looked very cute. I got the Kokuto Latte and my girlfriend got the Matcha Latte, and although I was sad to mess up the latte art, I was definitely not disappointed by the drinks. The Matcha Latte had the right balance of milkiness and grassiness, and Kokuto Latte was sweet without being overbearing. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

Seriously one of my fave cafe experiences thus far! Loving our amazing weather, we came on a saturday for the cafe's coffees and Michoz foods. The vibes are impeccable. Located right next to a park, they offer some free to use blankets to sit on the grass and a bubble machine - where kids and dogs roam freely and a couple was sing folk music. My partner got a cold brew and I got a lemon spritzer, both of which were great! But what was the standout was the partner's foods, OMG! Peruvian fusion and absolutely delish, it was worth every second of the wait. We got the chicken strips and the chicken chorizo sausage sando thing and both were SO GOOD! This is my second time here and I already want to come back for a third! I ordered a hojicha latte and my girl got a rasa chai and my friend got the holy honey herbal tea and we all loved it!! They have a baker that makes fresh pastries including vegan ones and it's so amazing! I highly recommend this place. Literally the only problem with The Hidden Cafe is that I can't be there all the time. Great coffee all week and the Sunday bagels from Hella Bagels are amazing. Just as good as Boichik, in my opinion. Their other pop-up partners are great, too. You'll never be disappointed with the food or service here. Their location in Strawberry Creek Park makes The Hidden Cafe a rare idyllic place in the Bay. Family and pet friendly, nice patio tables and nearby park benches (beware of hungry wasps in the park, though!), bubbles floating around, calm music. This cafe gives me European getaway vibes. The decor is so cute and calming which makes it a great reading/ working spot, and they have beautiful French music playing in the background. They are known for their chai flavors but my favorite coffee drink here is the Autumnal. My only negative is that they're not consistent with how they prepare this drink - the first time I had it I felt this was the best coffee I EVER had as all the clove and earthy flavors were so on point, and the next time I ordered it all those tasting notes were barely present. Then when I went back to them to add more of the autumnal syrup, they were out of it :( so will just have to make another trip soon! Apart from the drinks, the little baked goodies are so appetizing! My favs are the quiche, gluten free chocolate and raspberry cake, vegan chocolate and walnut fudge. Most of the stuff is either gluten free or vegan so there's something for everyone. read more

Four stars solely for the ambience. This cafe is tucked in a super cute area with a huge park next door. Its very peaceful and I can see why people go there to work for a couple hours. There are tables both inside and outside and you can bring a blanket to sit on the grass (i believe they also have some in the cafe you can use as well). The baristas were really friendly and they had plenty of dairy free and tea options for us non coffee drinkers. I got the hojicha latte, hot with oat milk, and it was just okay. I would definitely go back for the ambience and to try something iced. The hojicha wasn't super prominent in the hot drink but I notice that sometimes things have more flavor when they are iced. There's parallel parking on the side streets in the area but you may have to walk a couple blocks. This place is super cute and I definitely recommend! read more

This place is a magical getaway from the hustle and bustle of wherever you may live or the work week. The ambiance and vibe is really flexible for any type of activity you wanna do here or for just relaxing with your coffee, pastry or full cooked meals. There is an adjacent park (strawberry creek) that sits perpendicular to it that can be used for hanging out with friends, and they provide blankets for this. Yes! The coffee was delicious and presentable. It has ample parking, dog and kid friendly. The staff is great and attentive (I asked for sugar and the staff added for me and stirred for me to help and to keep us distanced d/t Covid restrictions) Come come come! So cute! read more

my sister was visiting from socal and i was searching through yelp for a coffee spot to take her to. so glad we went here! the location is unbeatable...a large grassy field to sprawl out on, blankets provided, dog friendly, bubble machine blasting in the back. you can even take a stroll through strawberry park while waiting. we ordered iced hojicha lattes and they were delish! they do offer light food options too, which we'll have to try another time. there are a couple seating tables available near the cafe if you don't want to bum it on the grass. overall, no complaints! this place checks all the boxes and then some. i think it's truly underrated. since my initial visit, i've gone back with my husband and we have even told a couple berkeley friends about hidden cafe (none had heard of it!). read more

Ok I don't get inspired to write Yelp reviews that often but this place is amazing. Beautiful spot. We tried 4 different tacos and all were A++. They are small artisanal tacos, not super filling but really fantastic. Caprese has a giant heirloom tomato with generous mozzarella and basil. Classic has a nice Italian sausage. Portabello has a really nice pesto with it. Also one with hummus and veggies. More than 90% of taco places I don't want to go back to. This place is not "authentic" Mexican tacos but please don't let that worry you. I'm not generally into fusion but here it works. read more

Ok... this cute little cafe stole my heart. I love that it's located right at Strawberry Creek Park and has bistro tables that overlook a grassy field where people are hanging in the sun on beach towels. I love that I can walk here from work for a little pick me up. I love that I can bring my clients for tea and a lovely vibe. It's a little expensive for what it is, but I dont hold it against them because everything good in Berkeley is expensive. This is the nature of living in the Bay. And it does deliver, I have to say. Go for the coffee, tea, and/or snack and stay for the outdoor ambiance. I'll be trying more items on the menu soon. The only things I've tried so far is the Chai tea which was very good and an espresso when I was about to fall off my desk at work. Both were great. read more

My office is in the same building as The Hidden Cafe and I feel very lucky to have it so close by! It's definitely my go-to spot for drinks and treats during the work week when I need a pick-me-up (not just because of the proximity), and I genuinely enjoy the majority of the menu items I've tried here so far even if they're a bit on the pricey side. I love their matcha, hojicha, and chai lattes specifically, plus you can customize any drink with various syrup and milk choices. The cafe's cozy and welcoming ambience brings so much positive energy and vibrancy to the area, and it's got to be one of the best places in Berkeley for relaxing, people watching, and finding motivation or inspiration. I do wish they had more food offerings outside of their popup days, but I'm happy to continually support such a wonderful small business when I can. read more

He then handed her the barista spoon and she stuck it in her drink (now it's contaminated), then the barista puts the spoon unwashed back into the next customers drink. Fabulous in every way, the best waffles I've had anywhere and I hunt them down...from east coast. Real maple syrup.
