Outstanding variety of tanks, substrates, plants, live food, filters, basically anything you would ever need, and it is fairly priced. The customer service is hit or miss. This is a store that people with passion visit, not every associate there has that passion. Thats because some of them are dumb hs kids. If the associates don't have passion but you do you, that's a recipe for disappointment. But just remember, they are just like the other kids working at Rita's or wherever. Its not really the stores fault. They just need bodies for a low wage. AND there are associates there that are extremely knowledgeable and fun to swap ideas/stories with (shoutout Roland). Been there a few times and my pea puffers have been in great condition the 7 months it has been since buying them there. Never a problem getting help from the folks there, just have to wait your turn. I'm a big fan of the Walstad setup and had some great conversations with the staff. read more

We visited this store recently to purchase saltwater fish. This is a huge store with everything anyone would need to have an aquarium. We were helped by a very knowledgeable young man who helped us pick out a couple tangs and some coral frags. He was also very professional and helpful. Prices are good and the fish appeared well taken care of, and our fish are beautiful and thriving with a blue tang and a pair of clownfish. I would be happy to go back and make another purchase. read more

Never had an issue with them in the past. Brought home a copper band butterfly today. In a tank next to it was a raccoon butterfly that was not in good shape had fuzz/ich. I didn't think the copper band was sick. But only a few hours later, after acclimating it too began to show signs of ich and now it's dead and it was the most expensive out of the three fish we purchased. A yellow goby and a clownfish. I will be talking to them tomorrow because this was a case of selling us a sick fish. I'm not happy. What a great bday. Thanks guys. read more

I'm deeply disappointed with my experience here this afternoon. I drove 45mins away hoping I could get my water tested. My fish had died in a matter of 2 days after purchasing it. I am a loyal customer here. I have also referred many people to come to The Hidden Reef. The gentlemen with the long hair was extremely unpleasant. After waiting on line at the cashier, I was told to go to the back where the aquarium is located to get the water tested. I was then told again to wait, there was no customers in the store at this time at all. I still was not being helped. While waiting there for some time he proceeded to tell me to come back another day. This is no way to conduct customer service. I am a business owner myself. Show others the way you want to be treated and stand by your products/services and willing to correct your errors. Never have I ever been treated this dismissive and wrongfully in my life. I will never recommend anyone to come to this place. read more

One of the best fish stores in the area that I've come across. I live in central Jersey so it's a nice trip to get here, but it's worth it if you are a fish keeper. Very wide selection of tank decor and food that I have never seen anywhere else. The fish room is also very cool, it makes me feel like I'm in a mini aquarium and has a wide variety of fresh water and salt water fish and corals too. The only downside to me is the employees seem a little lifeless and don't actively engage customers, but that's not an awful thing to me. Visited a few times for needed aquarium supplies, dry goods. Staff rarely helpful or even wants to be bothered. The fish do not look healthy. One feels sad as the store footprint is massive and could be so much more. However this one is unusually less than welcoming. Would not make the trip there again. read more

DO NOT BUY YOUR FISH HERE!! They knowingly sell sick fish!! FISH With ICK that will kill your tank! The manager is very rude and takes no responsibility for selling sick fish! In fact he lied and told me that the tank was healthy when another employee told us later that the tank had been treated for ick!! We bought a fish that they knew was sick with ick!! This is a HORRIBLE fish store! I wish I could give it 0 stars!! I was just in on 1/13 with my son. We purchased new fish and plants for his tank. We spent over $200 for his tank! When we got home we realized one of his new fish, a cardinal tetra, had ick! We immediately started treating his tank for ick! Unfortunately, he has lost most of his tank and is still losing them. I called the store and talked to the manager, who refused to do anything about it! My son called back and found out that the cardinal tetras were sick and treated for ick. I bought 3 green chromis on Friday January 30th, 2015. By Tuesday February 2nd all the fish were dead from red stripe disease. (An open soar that gets infected and spreads through the body of the fish in a vertical fashion). The fish looked ok in tank. But i should have known better when looking at the other tanks. They all had dark green algae and water parameters looked out of whack. The hidden reef had a great selection of supplies but stay away from the fish. My father always told me not to buy fish from there and now I know why. The green chromis were just to pretty. Thank god I put my newly acquired fish in quarantine first. I have salt water and fresh water tanks in my home. And this place has just lost my business. I will continue to buy my fish else where and my supplies too. read more

One star is saying too much for this place. We're from northeastern PA and decided to take a trip (1h30m) to this place after seeing a video about them from Coral12G's YouTube channel. I had high hopes... boy was I disappointed. The staff, which seems like young, uneducated, uninterested kids, lacked customer service skills. The saltwater tanks were in deplorable conditions. There was an entire wall of fish tanks filled with tangs, triggers, groupers, etc. They all had ICH and/or velvet. It was sad to see the fish scratching themselves against the rock... we mentioned to the guy w/ the long hair that a hippo tang was looking like it was on death's doorstep and he proceeded to kick the bottom of the tank, to which the fish responded and swam away... his response was "oh, he's fine, you see?" the fish went back to lay flat on its side under the rock. Sadly, they still sell these sick fish, as there was no sign that said do not sell. Instead the tanks still had the prices for the fish, some of which were hundreds of dollars. Sad. They shouldn't call themself a fish store. Seems like fish, saltwater especially, come here to die. Huge waste of our time. Will stick to our LFS. read more

I'm a south american cichlid keeper and they barely had any at all. What they did have didn't look that great. If you live in the area it's ok I guess but not worth the drive for me in south Jersey when I can go to Aquarium Center. read more

We have been coming to this place for about 7+ years now. I give this place 4 stars for their saltwater fish supplies. Their reef products like salt, coral additives and supplements, frozen fish food are just the right price. They also sell corals, live rocks, fresh and saltwater fish, some freshwater plants, some dog supplies, and reptile supplies. Staff is always nice enough to check to see if they have the supplies we need before driving over an hour to get there. We will keep coming to this place as long as we have our saltwater tank and as long as they keep their prices the same. read more

I'm not sure how you've gotten so many good reviews but I wonder. Two weeks ago I purchased six new fish to add to my tank which held over 14 freshwater fish, some approx. three years old and extremely healthy. I've had a tank for over thirty years and know how to add new new ones. Within two days, all but two, had died. When I was shopping there I had noticed that many of the tanks didn't look nearly as clean as they once did. I emailed you and received a notice that you received my email and would respond, but you never did. I was upset but courteous in my wording. It's wasn't even the $40 that I spent for the new fish, it's the fact that no one took the time to address this issue that is upsetting, since I have been a customer for years. This is my second and last bad experience with your store. The other one involved a return for a defective piece of equipment that I was given a difficult time with. You might have been a good store at one time, but "it's what have you done for me lately" when it comes to being a good customer in your establishment. If you did this to me, you will do it again to someone else. I thought I would take the time to let everyone know before they go there, since you couldn't take the time for me. been going there years i seen a filter on their website . I WENT THERE AND THE PRICE WAS DIFFERENT. I ask the guy he said the website was wrong ok take it down. isaid can you do something he said ah no. Ok the following week i went back bought some fish. Got home and my sliver shark was dead,I called back and sean the manager said bring it back. The Hidden Reef's return policy is terrible. Their policy is that they only give a store credit for returned merchandise. I bought a net to cover my pond. When I got it home and opened the package I found that the quality was so poor that I wouldn't use it. When I returned it the next day In the original package I was made aware of their "store policy". I was told that I'd have to purchase something to use the credit. I'll use the credit on a later date but will never return after that read more

I have been in the fish hobby for over 20 years and have been a loyal customers to stores that have served me well. HIdden Reef was a store I found myself visiting frequently and I have been a customer since the Roosevelt Blvd days....however, due to a very bad customer service experience, I choose to boycott this store. The owners were decent, however, its the staff that is very rude and incapable of handling situations in a very professional manner. I will give credit when it deserves it and I will say that the Hidden Reef is by far the best fish store in the PA area. They have the most livestock choice and their reef selections are untouchable. Oct. 26, 2016 I visited the Hidden Reef 3 times this week. Their service is excellent and their selection of fish and accessories is exceptional. I purcased a 20 gallon turtle tank and then decided the next day to get a 40 gallon turtle tank. Ziggy, who is the owner took care of me and exchanged the 20 for the 40 gallon tank, with no hassle.. I buy all my fish from the Hidden Reef and now I am adding turtles to my collection..Their prices are the lowest of any fish store anywhere in the tri-state area.. I compare their prices to Pet Smart, and I find that they are about 40% lower then Pet Smart..That is a major difference..They are located on New Falls Road, just 10 minutes from the Burlington Bristol Bridge in Levittown just off of Rt. 413.. This place is great for products. Service has been steadily declining. There is a great selection of fish but the quality is not always good. Alot of sick fish. The corals are bottom of the barrel, not cared for very well/bad lighting. It seems like they are trying to be like "that fish place/pet place" in lancaster but havent figured it out yet. read more

My hubby and I drive out here every now and then to check out the fish and maybe take one home. They have a wide selection of fresh water and salt water fish, all of them are so beautiful!! I don't know what Robert is talking about (although I'm not an experienced fish tank person). I didn't notice anything awry with tanks, no floating fish or noticeable ailments. There are plenty of workers there who will help you and they seem knowledgeable, albeit young. Nevertheless, I don't doubt that they know more than I do!
