A friendly neighborhood bar that has a great open air atmosphere. The staff are outstanding and beers and food reasonably priced.

We arrived on a Saturday around 6, the place way wide open, they do start taking a cover at 7 and promise some of the best blues around. I came for the steak special a 10oz strip, baked potato, the best house salad I've ever had with tomatoes, black olives,red onion, cheese and croutons on a bed of lettuce. I went with their house dressing parmesan herb vinegarette. Rachel took great care of us. We never wanted for anything. I will definitely be back! The appetizer menu looked great, and I can't wait to try the wings. read more

Great food, drinks, staff and music, it doesn't get any better than this! My favorite place

First off. The atmosphere and wait staff was excellent. The food okay, decent price. The "but" comes from the over priced beer. Happy hour prices were a dollar off per beer. Not bad if beer was 4.50. No normal price beer is 6 bucks a bottle. So we paid 5 per. Literally the most expensive beer in the Northland. If you want cheap beer, go to Captains Lounge or Brew Top. I thought theirs was expensive but they charge 4.50 on normal hours and alot cheaper during happy hour. Don't waste your money at The Hide Out unless you love over paying for beer. read more

Found this little hole in the wall and was really impressed. Walking in on a Tuesday night I could hear the Blues band from the parking lot. The tv they had the royals game on at the back bar is relatively small and they have a larger tv at the back bar but it is playing a video of old cars and bikes. Adds to the atmosphere I suppose. I did notice that if I went to the other side of the bar there were two large TV's for sports and both had the Royals on. There was no cover on a Tuesday night which was cool. Service is a bit slow but they seem to lightly staffed on Tuesday and as I say I was seated in the back bar. Probably would have been more wise to be in the main bar area. I never was the smartest person. Two nice pool tables, and two dart boards are also in the back bar portion of the establishment. So one could shoot pool, throw darts and listen to live music. I had the gumbo and the house salad which was very good especially considering the value. My Boulevard Space Camper was less than $6 and came served in a frosty cold pint. Overall this is a great little hide away to come in and relax and listen to music. read more

Wow, this place has changed and not in a good way! Servers are kind and try their best but new ownership is not good. Reduced their menu to hardly anything and what they still do have is not good. Used to have the best pizza, calzones and salads but now they have very few items and I had to return my pizza boat because it wasn't cooked enough. My friends burger was burnt to a crisp. Great good. Salads are large and tasty. Sliders, particularly the pulled pork, was very good. The fries are home made and delicious. Service is good. It is a loud place, so if that bothers you, skip it. I've been twice. One night there was a blues band, which was a lot of fun. Another night they had a guy with a guitar, which was a little more subdued, but still good. I'd recommend it. read more

I was out doing errands and decided to stop for a bite. I'd noticed this bar while shopping in the strip mall it was in, but this was my first time. Just a nice cool bar to hang out in. Bartender Scott was super friendly. The food was surprisingly good. Beer was cold. Several regulars hanging out. I'll go back for sure. read more

Are more accurate name for this bar doesn't exist as this place is, quite literally, hidden away. Located in the back corner of a strip mall you would miss it if you were driving by. My wife and I stopped by on a date night to check out a new pizzeria. Their was a gentleman doing Frank Sinatra covers dressed up in a wonderful tux and walking around getting all the patrons into the music. We were sat quickly in a booth away from the stage but that didn't stop the entertainer from stopping by or table to say hello and offering to have us join in the song. Do not let the name, location, and music fool you this place has amazing pizza!!! Having worked for many pizza shops in my day I asked our waiter about the proofing process on the dough. He made a humorous remark and made a joke about it. He soon realized I was being serious with my question and said he wasn't sure. I asked if I could talk to the chef, who you can see tossing pizza and rotating them in the brick fire stove they have. "Help yourself" the waiter replied, so I did. I ended up conversing with the chef for 20 minutes regarding the three day process they use and how all the dough is made from scratch in house. The only issue I can imagine then having is that on a busy Friday it Saturday they can go through three days worth of dough in a night. Meaning some of the dough is slightly under proofed, so my advise would be to go on an off day. Thus wasn't the issue with our pizza as it came out deliciously crispy!! We got a large for two people and had leftovers to take home. Overall it was clean, tasty, reasonable priced, and worth a second visit!! read more

Nothing fancy. Everything good to eat. I've never had a bad meal or a warm beer at this restaurant/bar. If you're lucky, they'll have a live band (please tip them) and you'll have a "new" favorite waitress. My favorites are pizza, gumbo (best in KC) , chili (really good), and burgers which use most of the space in your mouth. Some may call it a dive. I call it value with character. We happened upon this place while visiting my brother in KCMO. We all had an abundance of a good time on Saturday and needed sustenance before our 5 hour drive home to OKC. Tbh, I was skeptical when I walked into the place because it was fairly empty, had a super random giant square table setup in the middle of the bar area, and oddly arranged tables on the "restaurant" side. The facade didn't bother me as I know many gems are hidden in random strip malls and Hide Out Bar and Grill is no exception. We were the third table of the day with one wait staff, whose name I can't remember but her Chicago accent, style, and amazing service are unforgettable. The pizza was dyn-o-mite and just what we needed to get us over the hangover slump. My nephew ordered the chicken wings which were were freshly grilled and fried and smelled delicious. I think this place would be fun to hang out to day drink or for an evening for a low-key dinner. read more

Gladstone is mostly a suburban pit, with nothing interesting to do. This is one of the few places we'll go out up north. Cool little space. They do a good job booking bands that don't suck (and thus far haven't let shitty country music take over like almost every other northland bar), abs they have killer pizza abs wings. They also have been booking some cool annual events. We've enjoyed the fish boil event on Fat Tuesday the past couple of years. read more

They aren't kidding about the name. I had never noticed this bar before until a friend showed it to me. Even now that I know about it, I still don't see it driving by. The bar is located at the far end of a strip mall on the west side of North Oak. The strip mall runs perpendicular to the road and is obscured by other buildings, making the bar nearly impossible to see while driving by. It's pretty typical for a suburban strip mall bar. However one thing isn't typical -- the friendliness. Usually when a suburban strip mall bar is busy you're just an anonymous face in the crowd. However something about this bar is different -- people talk to you and welcome you in. It's probably because its seclusion has allowed the regulars to feel like family. I don't know what the schedule is, but the Hideout features karaoke and live blues acts. read more

Heard they had a shrimp boil on Friday night & nearly left because the place looked closed but we would have missed out on a great meal! The waitress was super friendly. We had the shrimp boil which included a huge pile of peel & eat shrimp, andouille sausage, potatoes and veggies. We also ordered a bowl of gumbo. It was amazing and ginormous, enough for 2 people without any other food. It's definitely a dive bar as the only beer on tap is bud light. However we will certainly be back! read more

My first experience at at the Hide Out was stellar. First off, my husband and I had our 2.5 yr old son with us and we were skeptical about him going in bc we just wanted to grab dinner after a afternoon at the pool. Surprisingly it was empty around 5-6p on a Thursday and Angela was more than welcoming to our little family!! Service was prompt, food was made from scratch and fresh.. absolutely delicious! I appreciated the fact that you're able to order pizza from their pizzeria next door. Angela--is a ray of sunshine, I want to go back just bc of her contagious spirit. She played music, drew pictures and was pure entertainment for my son. I would've never thought a bar would've been so warm for a family with a child. Though I've never eaten in house, I regularly get food to go. I always have a drink while my order is processed. Angela, the bartender always remembers what I drink, as is a hoot to talk to. Wings are probably the best in town. Very good chicken dinner offered. Fries and chips to die for. Once had a steak sandwich there which was one of the best sandwiches I've had in ages, though I never knew it was offered until I walked in. Wish they offered it more often. It was a special that night. Along with Helens (JAD) they have mastered upscale bar food. The down side is that they do not have a web site. In this day and age it's almost a necessity. I, as others would like to view their menu, know their prices, and be able to view their specials. Have voiced my opinion on this topic many times, and they always say it's coming. The Food was very good and enjoyed listening to the music by a local band. Recommended to friends for a easy going night out.
