I have been a loyal Margaritas lover my whole life. The food is yummy and portions are good. Free chips and salsa are great. Service is always fast and friendly. All that being said, I have watched the prices rise again and again and this trip was no different. I just can't believe the prices these days for very simple Mexican food. For example, the "special" today was 2 Chicken tacos for $8. No sides, just $4 per taco, as a "special?!" I didn't see what the normal price was, but surely it's under $5. $4 each for these pretty small/normal sized tacos is too much, esp with no rice or beans. Tariffs shouldn't be affecting margaritas much with basic ingredients. It's not like these are imported Italian sauce and noodles. It's meat, beans, rice, chips salsa for the most part. I don't understand the justification for these high prices. Everything on the menu, all lunch specials and daily specials, have gone up as far as I could see and are just too high for simple Mexican food in Gladstone. We definitely won't be coming as often as we used to. All of the food was good, chicken tacos, beans and cheese and fried ice cream, but nothing tastes as good when you're paying $50 for a small queso, 6 smallish tacos on "special", one order of rice and beans and a fried ice cream. read more

Do I consider Margarita's restaurant a 5 star establishment? No. Does is absolutely hit the spot for what I go there for, yes. I love the cheese dip, it's a staple and must have every time I dine here. Living in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico now, we don't really get cheese dip besides queso fundido. We sat at the bar and had friendly bartenders and drinks were plentiful when we needed a refill. We split the gringo taco platter and my husband added a tostada and it hit the spot. We were really looking forward to a nice night out with friends, and unfortunately the food didn't quite match the occasion. My wife ordered the chile relleno, but it had a lot more sauce than substance. The refried beans on the side were also pretty dry and didn't have much flavor. I wasn't really in the mood for Mexican food that night, so I ordered the chicken sandwich instead. It took about an extra 10 minutes for mine to come out after everyone else's. When it arrived, the chicken patty was about twice the size of the bun, which made it hard to eat, and it ended up being pretty dry and lacking flavor. We came in hoping to enjoy a fun evening celebrating a night out with friends, but overall the experience was a bit disappointing. I hope this feedback helps, because we'd love to see the food match the atmosphere and have a better experience if we visit again. read more

I ordered the Durango and a box to go:) The pork tamales are awesome and the chicken taco could have been a meal in itself. We have been going to Margaritas on N Oak since they opened. Tonight we had the worst experience here ever. Very poor service! Waited more than 20 minutes for a drink. The waitress was nasty. When we moved to the Northland we kept hearing from everyone that we had to try Margaritas. We finally got around to it, and honestly, I was pretty underwhelmed. First off, it took an incredibly long time for anyone to even come and acknowledge us after we were seated. The service was slow from the get go. While the interior was clean and seemed well maintained, that's about where the positives ended for us. The food was decent enough, but I felt it was way overpriced for what it was. We're used to finding good, affordable Mexican food, and this just didn't fit the bill. The portion sizes weren't anything special, and the quality didn't justify the price tag. Overall, I'm glad we tried it to see what the hype was about, but I don't think we'll be back. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in the area that offer better value and faster service. read more

Ordered without onions, came with more onions than anything else. However, the kicker it was all burned, charred beyond edible levels. I placed a large online order, I went to pick up, I called to let them know I'd arrive, the person that answered was abrupt and told me the food would be out when it was ready and hung up. I waited 15-20 min, called back the next person told me he was the one that brought food out and was never told I was waiting. Got 2 to go orders here in last 2 weeks. I like the curbside pickup option. The 1st time was great. We love their margarita dip. My fajitas were great and I had like 3 meals from it. My husband got a ground beef chimi that was delicious. The 2nd time wasn't as great. The ground beef in the chimi was dry and old tasting. The chimi wasn't even fried all the way. It seemed like the meat was leftover from lunch! I got enchiladas this time and they were good but same for the ground beef, old and dry. I put a lot of sour cream and guac on my enchiladas to make them better. The chicken was pretty good though. Seems like it's better to come when it's busy because food is used faster and you get fresh tasting food and not old food. read more

I don't know why there's so bad reviews for Margaritas. There must be a lot of competitors or Karens commenting. This place is ALWAYS busy all hours of the day. Their parking lot is always full, so they must be doing a lot right! My wife and I have been coming here for decades and always enjoy their food and service. We both like their pork chili. The building is nothing special. It originated as a Ken's Pizza and became Bobby Bell's BBQ back in the late 70's. I ate there once and it was good. For those wondering, yes, it was the same Bobby Bell who played for the KC Chiefs. Anyway, Margaritas is a good place to eat and don't let the bad reviews sway you, none of the other Mexican style restaurants on North Oak are as good or as busy. For the one reviewer cutting down the place because "it was full of seniors," realize someday you'll be a senior, if you're lucky, but first you'll need to grow up! read more

We went in for a quick lunch to celebrate a good day, we ordered our food.We got our food, everything looked fantastic. The server told us that she would get me another drink in a minute, and we waited over ten minutes and finished half my food so I went to the restroom and came back to a whole scene. My mother flagged down the waitress because we couldn't find her, and apparently the waitress decided that she needed to yell at my parents explaining that she was rude and that she would never do that to somebody, even though I explicitly saw her talking to her coworkers without getting me a drink. There was no rude intention in flagging her down, we just wanted a refill. To add insult to injury, another customer decided to chime in and cuss my mother out as well and Margaritas thought that it was okay. We then were not given any more service nor refills. The service was excellent. My wife ordered a regular taco which was served in a full size tortilla. However, I ordered a shrimp fajitas at $18.89. Instead of including regular size tortillas, they gave me with "street taco size tortillas", 4" in diameter. Needless to say the contents of the meal was too large for the number of miniature tortillas. It's a minor ripoff, but still a ripoff. My absolute favorite Mexican restaurant probably of all time. A classic staple of KC, it's got great food and salsa and fresh warm chips and a stocked bar. The atmosphere is kind of loud, with sports tv's all over the place, but it's also fun and casual. There are booths and tables to sit at, as well as an outdoor room and a back room. The waiters are always super nice and friendly, and very fast and good at their service. They always notice right away when you're getting low on chips or salsa or your drink and bring it without you even having to ask. The tacos are really greasy and use regular shredded cheese, nothing special but the meat is so good and it's cooked in such a way that it tastes amazing and you almost can't stop eating them. Plus the Mexican rice is completely amazing and perfect, I love it. I always come here with my family, and I think we will continue to come here for years to come. There's nothing better than Margarita's salsa, and I'm glad I can buy it in some grocery stores. read more

Well Mexican food in Kansas City was exactly what I thought it would be. They should stick to BBQ. I have to say the service was okay but the food was not the best. They gave you a huge serving of food that wasn't even good. I ordered the Baja that came with a fried taco with your choice of meet and cheese and onion enchiladas with rice and beans. The amount of cheese on that plate was sickening. The food had no flavor just taste like cheese. They disrespect Mexican cuisine by using yellow cheese on the food. This place has nothing on Chicago Mexican food. Give them two stars for the margarita and service. I would recommend for drinks and queso dip only. I enjoy going to Margaritas occasionally. It's good for what it is...Tex-Mex, but let's get real, it's not authentic Mexican food. It's Anglo to the core! If you want authentic you need to go someplace like Ixtapa Fine Mexican Cuisine. Margaritas is more like Tex-Mex fast food. It's better than Taco Bell by far. The food is good and it's served pretty quickly. The service is generally good unless they're really slammed. I enjoy getting a quick Tex-Mex meal there and have for years, but if I want to have a nice sit-down Mexican dinner it won't be at Margaritas. For the Midwest, it's a cut above average. read more

Way overpriced for what you get. My salad was soooo small, it seemed like a side salad portion. I asked for Parmesan instead of the other cheese- they doused it in it- (see pic) I hardly could taste anything else. I was able to scrape a bit off. It doesn't come with salsa, pico, guac, or sour cream as as typical taco salads would- gotta pay extra for their already steep prices. I eventually got a taste if the chicken- well seasoned I will say. Service was decent. Not sure the crazy prices are worth returning. I visit pretty regularly at this location, and have tried almost everything! Here are my favorites: 1. Beef/Chicken fried tacos- light and crispy, but filled with tons of meat. You cannot go wrong. 2. Flautas- same as above. 3. The enchiladas are drenched in cheese. Ooey, and Gooey to the point of inedible at times. If that your thing prepare to be wowed. 4. The chips and salsa- Hot and fresh, these are a standout! Try the Hot Salsa- YUMMO. 5. The fajitas- Best Combo: Chicken and Shrimp. The pepper/onion to meat ratio is great! 6. The quesadillas are on the greasy side, but sometimes you just need something to carry sour cream to your mouth. 7.The Authentic Shredded beef tacos! 8. The white cheese dip is reminiscent of Rancho Grande( another NKC brand). Run of the mill, with a hint of smoky cheese. PRO TIP- Visit on Sundays and all the weekly specials are available. read more

This is the first time I've ever ordered fajitas at any mexican restaurant and received half a skillet of rice where the steak and shrimp was supposed to be.
