    meatloaf sandwich

We had to check out of hotel 7 hours before our flight and needed a place to post up that was open at 11AM. The Brick delivered. The interior is essentially a perfect dive bar. Rugged interior, unique art adorning the walls, skating rink-style furniture filling the dining area -- awesome vibe. They have a solid selection of liquor and beer. We may or may not have indulged before noon on a Monday... Food wise, it's slightly above average bar food. This isn't a knock as if it was any better it wouldn't make sense for a dive bar. Most of us went with the meatloaf sandwich, which Guy Fieri supposedly featured on an episode of DDD. It was commendable, but nothing insanely good. If I lived near here I'd definitely explore the menu a bit as they seem to offer quite a bit. Huge shout out to the staff here. We actually arrived 15 minutes before opening and they were kind enough to let us sit down and gave us a spot on the music stage to store our bags. I bet this place is a lot of fun on a show night.

The Brick is a classic in KC. Great Bands, really great food, classics as meatloaf sandwich, Cobb sandwich, Ruben sandwich, full bar, fun people. Visit soon!

The owner was serving us that evening and was gladly attentive. The vibe of the place was also very laid back and welcoming. This is definitely a spot to take friends to just eat and hang out. The menu is creative but has something for everyone. I got the Sriracha bacon burger and my wife got the vegan burger. She loved hers and it was great on her stomach. The burger for me was a 10/10.

Miss Sherry has made this place a home to many. Wow! What a beautiful bar with food that doesn't hurt my tummy! I had the vegan burger and it was delicious. Not to mention Miss Sherry made sure my sprite was never empty! Best place to be.

Party melt. Yes, that thin slice of meat is the burger

Stopped by for lunch. Nice atmosphere and not what I expected based on the looks of the front door. Kinda reminded me of a speakeasy of sorts. Decent beer selection. Food was mediocre. Fried pickles were tasty, but super greasy. Patty melt was OK. The patty was really thin and definitely not the star of the dish. The rye bread was nice. That's about it. The tater tots were way overcooked and so greasy. If greasy food is your type of thing, then you'll likely find the food appealing. I would still go for beer!!

The diviest of dive bars with excellent hot dogs. Came to here because of Guy Fieri and was not let down. Drinks are very well priced and there's plenty of food options. Ordered the Kansas City Reuben which is an excellent choice. Our server also helped us when deciding and it was not too busy. Definitely recommend stopping in if you're near downtown KC

It was just okay. A lot going on in the restaurant. Food was hot. Not many good options to choose from . Sever was nice. With good service. There's a lot of junk and scribble on the walls . First time here and not sure if I'd return. Not sure if it's for me but could be for someone !

This is a little hole in the wall place. It has a great atmosphere with a stage towards the front. My drink came and was super tasty. It was a mule but the pear added just the right touch. The spinach and feta dip was creamy and fully loaded with goodness. The Oklahoma hotdog was beyond anything I could have comprehended. I thought it was going to be like a corndog but that description isn't even close. It was crispy with so much flavor. My girlfriend said the Pubby burger was cooked perfectly and she really enjoyed the sweet potato fries. Our waitress was super friendly with great timing. She allowed us the time we needed to make all of our decisions. She kept our drinks filled and our table cleared.

Today was not the first time I've been to or eaten at The Brick, however, it was the first time I've had Brickfast and it was delish! The hubs got coffee, standard, no flash, cream & sugar; I got a hermosa with Boulevard Wheat and orange juice. More beer than juice, which for the venue, is expected and welcome! We started by dipping our toes into them Disco Fries (sans green onion) and a Cinnamon Roll. Both were delightful but I do wish the cinnamon roll had been a little more...gooey? For entrees he got the Country Boy - we knew from previous visits that they have great Chicken Fried Steak - and I got The Firebird. Both were delicious and exactly what we expected. Service was fast, friendly and we got everything we needed quick and without asking twice. Although it was a busy & bustling morning, we got a nice seat in the back to people watch and hear each other without yelling, ha! We love the Brick - it's a treasure and I always think "we don't come here enough" every time we stop in! The artwork and seating is lowkey but unique and it just feels comfy and cozy but in no way pretentious. Get yourself down for dinner, lunch or Brickfast sometime!!! And go support the local music scene, it's more important now than it ever has been!

    Greek salad

I ordered for the first time and got the Greek salad the salad was good and the dressing was good but all I had was spinach and lettuce a very few vegetables, the salad was 9.95 I was expecting a salad not a kids sala.

Great food, great service, great music!! All the food was very cheap, but very good. I ate with 2 other people and the bill was only $50. And like I said, the music was amazing! I'd definitely come here again.

This is one of many DDD joints in Kansas City, which I really didn't know was on the TV show until I went in... I selected The Brick for lunch on the day I went as a result of all the positive reviews. I've pretty uch given up on trying to find DDD joints to visit when I travel (as I travel for work a LOT!!) because so many are either stuck on their being on the show or have gone out of business since (also as a result of being big-headed from being on the show)... so, I've found it to be the kiss of death for those who don't know how to properly manage their business. But not here!!! Sherry, who owns this business, is so very friendly and amazing! She comes up with all the items on the menu herself, which is incredible, as she's also busy running the front of the house of her business. The day I went, they were moderately busy for late lunch. No bands were playing, but they have a stage and bands play often here. The menu is loaded with interesting, original dishes she's come up with. I had a hard time deciding, so while sitting at the bar, where she was working/serving, I asked her what's good and when she said the meatloaf sandwich, I went for it, not realizing it was also featured on DDD. I started with a cup of chili and I loved that when I asked for it, she countered by asking how I wanted it topped! I chose jalapeños - yum! The chili was flavorful, with more than one style of bean and loaded with plenty peppers - yum!! The meatloaf sandwich was incredible! The meatloaf was soft, flavorful, and perfectly put together to be sturdy without hard or tough. Incredible flavor and texture, which seem to be the tough part about making the perfect meatloaf. And the bread it was on was incredible! Overall - loved it! I also got their double-beer battered onion rings as a side and those were awesome! Nice sweet onions inside with a great, not to tough batter on the outside! Overall, great service, great menu, great execution... This is truly a place that deserves the 5 stars they are getting. She's doing it right and I hope she continues to be successful! I'll definitely visit when in town again!

Ask the Community - The Brick

Do you need to be 21 to get in?

They have music. Do they have a dance floor?

No, not a dance floor. However, if you love a song they’re playing, enough room for you to stand up with someone and enjoy.

Can anyone tell me if it best to call ahead to the brick or how much of a wait is there notmally?

Have been in a 1/2 dozen times and have never had a wait. All the visits though have been between noon and 4:00 PM. This is a dive bar with excellent food and good music. Outside of that nothing special and they take no reservations that I know of.…

The space is cozy and perfectly aligned with its purpose: it's all about the jazz. The service was great--welcoming, attentive, and added to the overall experience without taking away from the music. And the music? Absolutely captivating. It pulls you in and transports you--you can't help but settle into the vibe and just enjoy the moment together. We went on a Monday, so there was plenty of seating, but I noticed there's also a lower level that likely accommodates larger weekend crowds. There's a solid drink menu and a small selection of food, but honestly, this isn't the place you come for a full meal. Come for the drinks, stay for the music, and soak in the atmosphere.

It's not my normal scene but I've always had a good time and I feel like it's run really well. It's located smack dab in the middle of power and light. Parking lots are around but it'll cost at least $20. You do have a streetcar option. I usually park a mile away and just walk. There are a ton of restaurants that surround it, a large stage, tvs, and lots and lots of bars. It's outdoors but there's a large canopy that blocks some of the sun. There are two levels, the upper level is great if it gets crowded because the lower level gets a little stuffy and hot when bodies start packing in. You can enjoy a bit of a breeze if you're on the upper level and it tends to not be as crowded. But if you want to be in the action then I recommend the lower level for you. Bathrooms are relatively clean. I've seen and experienced worse and theirs are way better than I ever expected. The age range tends to skew younger. Like early to mid 20s. A sprinkling of 30-40 year olds. Then maybe a few that are older. It's definitely frat/sorority vibes, at least in my experience but the kids have always been well behaved. There's lots of surrounding restaurants that you can get food and beverages from. Plus bars throughout. Drink prices are a bit higher than a regular bar but the quality and sizes are much better than at other popular venues so I don't complain. For 20 bucks I can get 32oz of Tank 7 at Johnnys. They have several cocktails, I like Besos crushers. I did see some individuals with buckets of booze from somewhere. Food wise there's a bit of everything-regular bar food, bbq, tacos, Irish food, pizza, and probably other things that I'm not recalling. The pizza by the slice is decent but I tend to gravitate once again to Johnnys because I can put in an order to go and grab it and go home after whatever event. Fun spot. The soccer watch party was a super fun time and I honestly enjoyed it more than the FIFA fan fest. The hosts are great. Definitely check out an event here sometime.

Incident Details: Time/Location: Saturday, May 16, 2026, at approximately 7:30 PM at the back entrance of T-Mobile Center during the UMKC graduation. What Happened: I exited and attempted to re-enter through the back entrance. I was stopped by security and told I could not re-enter. At the same time, I personally witnessed a white family being allowed to re-enter through that same entrance without issue. I was singled out and denied the same access granted to others. Escalation: When I asked to speak to a supervisor, my request was ignored by security. A KCPD officer on site then threatened me with arrest simply for asking for a supervisor. I was not disruptive, threatening, or violating any posted policy. Staff Involved: I do not have badge numbers or names. The security staff and KCPD officer involved can be identified via security camera footage from the back entrance at approximately 7:30 PM on May 16, 2026. I request that this footage be preserved immediately. My Concerns: Discrimination: Denying me re-entry while allowing a white family to re-enter is disparate treatment based on race. This violates Title II of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Missouri Human Rights Act §213.065 RSMo, which prohibit discrimination in places of public accommodation. Intimidation by Law Enforcement: Threatening arrest for requesting a supervisor is retaliatory and an abuse of authority. Premises Liability: Under Missouri law, T-Mobile Center has a duty to ensure its agents treat invitees lawfully and without discrimination. Requested Resolution: Immediate preservation and review of all security footage from the back entrance at approximately 7:30 PM on May 16, 2026. Identification of and investigation into the security staff and KCPD officer involved. Written response within 10 business days detailing findings and corrective actions, including anti-discrimination training. Written apology for the treatment I received at my son's graduation. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and that all relevant video and records will be retained pending investigation. This was my son's college graduation.
