We've been doing this for probably 20 years and have been all over Tucson, Green Valley and Oro Valley. Our experience at The Gallery Golf Club was exceptional! The staff was incredible, the course gorgeous and well cared for, the rangers and other personnel out on the course were hospitable and kind. There was not one single person who doesn't deserve accolades. The food served in the clubhouse after the tournament was over was top notch and everyone raved about the food. The chef started with us at 6am as he made breakfast burritos for the crowd, accommodated special diet requests and was working hard for the afternoon meal ~ all the while with a genuine smile. Gallery employee Mike coordinated our tournament and helped with all the details. He was the calm amongst the crazy as we were setting up registration tables while eager golfers arrived early. Mike was pulled in a million different directions and calmly handled any all problems that arose. If your group is looking for a location for a charity golf tournament, I highly recommend The Gallery Golf Club.

Fortunately during the summer they reseed the course so it is virtually deserted and getting a 7am tee time is totally available. Beautiful course with some spectacular views. Green grass with lots of shade trees you will find some difficulty in some of the elevated shots. Red carpet for tee pads and bright red baskets for easy visibility. This course will not disappoint!

But ultimately, in a nutshell: I really enjoyed everything about my visit there. The course layout was challenging, but not ridiculously so. One of the things that stood out, for me, was that even though it was nearing the hottest time of the year for Tucson (mid-June) and our monsoons had not yet fired up, the greens and fairways were in an impressively lush condition. We all know that the Tucson area, nestled in the Sonoran desert is known for its spectacular beauty, but the views that can be had while playing at Dove Mountain are exquisite and absolute "show stoppers". I actually paused my golf game numerous times during the 3 and a half hour round. in those moments I stood there and took a few moments to behold and appreciate the sights. The putting surfaces had just been aerated, so navigating the greens was slightly challenging. But aside from that, the place was amazing. I think the word, "pristine" is a good synonym for Dove Mountain. I already mentioned that I loved the plushness of the fairways, but I also really appreciated the fact that the sand bunkers were actually groomed and one can hit out of bunkers without feeling like we are striking balls off of cement. There is not a speck of trash on the course. Additionally, friendly rangers come around every now and again, and all equipment and course facilities here are in immaculate condition. I kind-of sense that when it comes to golf, I might give off a bit of a, Carl Spackler (*grounds keeper from Caddy-shack) energy and vibe. So, as I drove to the North-west side of Tucson," I had some trepidations about how the staff and up-scale patrons would respond to me. *The Dove Mountain Golf Course is near the, "upper end" of the bell-scale-curve when it comes to measuring prestigiousness and exclusivity of golf courses in Tucson. So, with a nagging-fear that my, "island of lost clubs" golf set would be a bit of a "tell" that I am not an elite player, I continued to drive north-westerly towards my destination golf course. Further evidence that I am not of the elite in the world of golf can also be found in my golf scores...and, for that matter, in my golf swing (which, when I see videos of it, I immediately say, "Oh, Gebus Crist! Erase that! Erase that now! ). Anyways, the staff--and the club's regulars who ere enjoying the course and their morning Mai tais could not have been nicer. I felt totally appreciated and accepted and comfortable. The vibe up there is super friendly and supportive. The curb-side attendants and the bar-tendress that hooked me up with ice were as nice as I have ever encountered. Now that I have played at Dove Mountain, I have a rising concern that this is going to have the same effect on me as what happened a few years ago on a flight back to Tucson. On that day, I was called up and asked if I wanted to be upgraded for free to first class for the flight. *"Hell-to-the-yes!", said I. So, as it turns out, after that lucky break, upon having to go back down and sit in the economy-class on subsequent flights... well, you see where this is going. But, just in case you are not seeing my point, Public courses were just fine for me a week ago (as was sitting in economy on a plane). But now, I simply can't bear to see myself slumming it with the groundlings anymore. (Read that picturing me holding up a morning Orange Liqueur Mimosa with my pinky up, as I uncross my blue and pink argyle knickers to man-spread my legs in a deep Corinthian leather armchair , while taking a puff from my Gurkha Royal Courtesan cigar.)

Went to El Conquistador for a quick Saturday night trip with the wife unit. Spent a day at the…read morepool; hiked Sabino Canyon (the next AM), then after a quick touch-up on the tan at the pool Sunday AM... Scampered back home to Phoenix. Will run with the standard 1X-2X trip with the grandkids (age 10-12) here over the summer. As always, rooms are pretty decent. Tad bit dated, but not bad by any means. The pool and the incredible view(s) are the real catch. Very good pool, magnificent views. Shout out to my boy Joey and the awesome Danielle at the pool. Really nice young staff who do a great job. The pool is definitely where it's at. GREAT drinks, pretty solid poolside food. We ordered room service late in the evening. Not a bad Chx quesadilla, but not like ordering at the AWESOME poolside bar. All very good to excellent in the end. With prompt/friendly service at the front desk when checking in/out, and outstanding service from ALL of the pool bar staff we interacted with. Been going to the El Conquistador since day one in the late-80's, and they are doing doing a great job re: staff and the view is incredible. Rooms are certainly nice as well.
