My friend had been in an accident and went there after she was done at the hospital to convalesce. The service there wasn't bad, but they were supposed to arrange for a walker and home health and so only before she left . She stayed at my house for weeks and still no walker, no home health or anything. I called daily for a while, but they never followed through. The Highlands is a great long term/rehab care facility in Owasso. When my elderly mother was no longer able to live at home, we settled on The Highlands as a care facility. Overall, the staff are great. As with any business, you have your subpars and your superstars. Based on my experience, Highlands has far more superstars. Some things to note, from my personal experience are listed below. And keep in mind, these aren't dings against The Highlands. Just observations. One thing you need to understand... you are a key component in your loved ones' experiences at The Highlands, just as with any other business. Also, it must be noted that this review is based on the presence of heightened quarantine measures due to the Covid situation. In any ordinary situation, I feel most of these would not have been an issue, as visitation would have been unrestrained and frequent. As it was, I was not able to visit my mother during her entire two month stay, other than to stand outside her window and talk on the phone. It was literally making the best of a bad situation, and I don't fault The Highlands for that. They were/are under strict guidelines that they have to follow. Onboarding/orientation. I think there is a lot of room for improvement in this area. Mom didn't really get any type of orientation/welcoming activity, so she didn't really know what to expect. There was a lot of her telling me what was wrong, and me having to relay that to the social worker, which is never a good process. The facility itself is beautiful, well maintained and clean. Spacious hallways and large rooms make the facility much more attractive. The staff, as mentioned above contains some real stars. Mom repeatedly praised Melinda as a great caregiver. One issue that seemed to be pervasive was the lack of follow through on requests. I had a couple of discussions with the administrator about this, and she readily acknowledged that it's a perpetual training issue. As with any for-profit business, there's never enough people for all the work, and that leads to things getting forgotten. But, at the end of the day, when you have someone who is largely dependent on others for their care, you just can't 'drop the ball' and forget to follow through. The food quality was also very cyclical. A lot of times, meals were incomplete, lukewarm or cold, or just not good. What we didn't know was the resident has the option to request something else if that meal misses the mark. Again, back to the onboarding and setting expectations. When mom passed, the staff were all so great, caring and considerate of our needs. I can't thank them enough. With nursing homes, it seems all you ever hear is the bad stuff, so I'm taking the opportunity to share the good stuff as well. read more

This place is a joke, if you take family member here for anything, they will try and hurt them by not giving medication. They almost killed my aunt. Nurse's are not doing what supposed to do, wonder if they are real Nurse's. Needs to be shut down. Stars -10 that bad.. read more

We moved my mother back into the hospital today after spending 9 days. Her condition went downhill a few days after being admitted. She was supposed to have visits every hour but found out it was more like every 3-4 hrs. The Dr. had not seen her at all since admittance. Was supposed to have her teeth brushed by staff-didn't happen. Was supposed to be bathed-didn't happen. Understanding they are short-handed, no excuse for Staff being unprofessional. Thankfully a resident told me to move her. God only knows what would've happened had she stayed any longer. They may be okay,(that's a stretch), for other types of rehab but they were not a good choice for my mothers condition. Would not recommend to anybody for any type of healthcare. read more

The facility is beautiful and has an outside "downtown ambiance" . So The the faced of a theater with ticket booth. This room is used for showing movies and many other activjties. They have scheduled and optional activitieas. Physical theropy , doctors nurses and aids. If you expect to leave your loved one in any facility you better expect to be a part of their care. Most funded by social security funds there is very little to work with. Each facility follows guidelines set by DHS. If your family member will get out of their room, follow the activity schedual, to to the dinner room for meals they will thrive. There is a beautician and all types of inside and out side activitiess. DO NOT RELY ON ANY FACILITY TO REPLACE YOU BEING INVOLVED BE ACTIVE IN THEIR CARE. MAKE CALLS, ASK QUESTIONS, WRITE LETTERS, SEND A CARD, A MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION OR CALL IN A SURPRISE PIZZA! LETTERS VISITS. AMAZON DELIVERS AND THESES PEOPLE ARE STARVED FOR YOUR ATTENTION. The rooms are spacious and the food is decent, but sometimes I heard that breakfast comes cold. The staffing here is short very often. This means that tou may have to wait an extra 4 to 10 to 15 minutes to receive your help. Sometimes you do get your shower on your shower day, sometimes you have to wait longer. The administration is so-so about supporting their coworkers. I have been treated better at other places. read more

went there after a hospital stay for rehab, food was always cold when it got to my room, communication with management was very poor, they would only text,wouldnt talk to you on the phone and they wouldnt return calls as promised. only had one meeting with ashley (social worker) and amy (nursing supervisor) during a three week stay. was promised equipment for home care would be delivered prior to my release,it never was delivered and has not been delivered three weeks after i returned home,. wehave made numerous calls to ashley regaarding this,asking who the order was placed with no answer. when i went hom they loaned me a wheelchair without a armrest or footrest on the left side. also loaned me a slide board. since no other equipment was delivered i had no way to potty. that night my wife called ashley complaining about no bedside commode. was told if we wanted one someone would have to come to highlands to pick one up and we did so. the rehab people did a goodjoband were appreciated. sidney s read more

This is the worst facility of its kind I've ever been in. The rooms and the kitchen and dining areas are filthy. The night staff are unprofessional and not properly trained. The building looks beautiful on the exterior but the inside is awful! I would not recommend leaving a loved one here. read more
