Iced sea salt vanilla latte
Candace L.

Came here twice to try the Sea Salt Vanilla Latte, iced and hot versions. The spring menu did not mention it has cinnamon but the hot Sea Salt Vanilla Latte I got did have cinnamon, enough so that I could not taste sea salt and the cinnamon overpowers the vanilla taste. However there was no cinnamon in the iced version of the drink when I bought it last time. When I asked the worker about the hot drink, she said it is supposed to have cinnamon (like the Golden Bloom Latte that has it explicitly stated on the menu) and sorry. It happened towards the end of a Saturday afternoon rush, and the workers seemed overwhelmed. It also seemed like the receipts were not printing and all orders had to be handwritten, probably contributing to the crowding of customers. I also tried the spinach and feta croissant as well on my first visit and it was tasty. They are able to heat it up for you. There is a single bathroom for customers to use. They only have a small menu up front where the cash register is, so when there is a line, you cannot figure out what you want until you get up there in front to order. The staff seemed to have a hint of annoyance for both times I visited, although they seemed friendly with some other people, probably regulars. Maybe it was annoyance that we paid with cash and coins the first time, and second time because they were overwhelmed with how busy it was. I am not sure if I'll revisit since there are other coffee spots closer to the Forest Hills subway stop

What a cute place with a great selection of baked goods and good coffee! Love the seating!

Small cute little coffee shop right before metropolitan avenue. Very aesthetically pleasing. I ordered a very berry hibiscus, there was nothing special about it. Would've probably tasted the same if I would've brewed hibiscus at home. I also got a feta cheese spinach croissant. The croissant was actually really good. I would definitely buy it again. I would go back if I drive by and want a coffee, or craving a good croissant.

Iced latte - better than the first time

I came back for a 2nd visit about 2 weeks ago, a little more than a month after my first visit. I ordered the same thing in hopes of improvement. While the iced latte this time was much better than the first time (the first time I sadly threw it out, and I did not do it lightly as $6 is alot of money to just throw away), it was just ok. The cronut was also just ok. I didn't really like it but I didn't want to waste it since I bought it so kind of forced myself to finish. I continue to hope that they improve; there's just so much potential for them because of the location they have and how it's a nice place to sit down in. I will probably wait yet another month to give it a final shot.

I've visited twice on weekend afternoons and The Hill's Cafe is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. The decor is really chic, comfortable and clean and the baristas have been friendly on both of my visits. It's really nice to have a coffee shop with a relaxing and welcoming vibe. On my first visit my husband and I got the cookie butter latte (addicting!), and chocolate chip cookie and an oatmeal raisin cookie that were both really good. On my second visit I got an iced coffee and a salted caramel donut. The donut was a little sweet for my taste so I would try the lemon next time. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

It was a nice day and decided to take a walk to try out a new cafe. The service was great, our barista was super nice. That being said, I don't know if it is because they are new, but they seemed to be out of a lot of things. We asked for a matcha latte and they said they didn't have any matcha. We asked for an iced tea and they said it would take about 20 minutes to make. Finally asked for an iced coffee, and somehow got charged for a cold brew. We also got the cinnamon roll, and it was average. The bread was hard and it was a bit bland. Overall, chalking a bunch of this up to growing pains and hoping that they can improve!

Loved everything about this cafe! The barista was so so friendly, she took my order fast and I was in and out. It was quite busy but she managed to be efficient. The prices are fair, coffee was delicious, sandwich was healthy and filling. 10000% coming back here for the food, coffee, and especially service!

Lovely little cafe! Came here for a quick caffeine pick me up and was greeted with friendly smiles and quick service. Their cold brew coffee (Large cup $5.5p) was (in hubby's words) a proper one: perfectly strong, but not bitter. I also nabbed one of their red velvet donuts ($3.50), a dense cake donut filled with sweet creme. Plenty of seating inside, spacious. There are a few steps at the front, so keep that in mind if you have a stroller. Tip: pay in cash and get a 4% discount. Great small business!

The service was great. John was very friendly and patient, a must for me. The food was very good, high scale taste. The Chai latte, homemade, was a Chai with a delicious feel of avena and horchata...delicious. The almond spiced croissant and spinach feta pastry, warmed, were heavenly. Come and try it out. Also, my group used the restroom. They liked it, nicely decorated and super clean. Before I forget, John will make surprise sandwiches any given day. Try your luck and come by or call for sandwich surprise !

i'll have to try them again. the caramel latte i got tastes like straight up coffee. i usually order a latte from dunkin' donuts because it masks the coffee taste and is sweeter. maybe that's not how real lattes are but it just wasn't what i was expecting. it did wake me up though which i needed at this early hour. the pastries looked really good.

Last time I tried their black sesame matcha which was so yummy. I always look forward to the new flavors they come up with which are really crafted with care. They're also one of the few cafes ive seen which offer hojicha- a tea which tastes more nutty and caramel-y. Forest cafe has definitely grown in popularity over the years, so the last few times ive been here it was packed to the brim. Still, the service hasn't suffered at all and they get through customers at a fast pace. I really admire the unwavering attention to detail and upkeep that is put into all aspects of this cafe, from the artful posters and signage, to the new flavors, to the space itself - these things make it such a wonderful gathering place for the community!!

They have a list of year round items & a couple rotating seasonal lattes that you'll have to wait to see on their wall as well. However, It gets extremely busy there -- so if you're wanting to sit and chit chat with a friend, you might find yourself sitting outside or constantly checking for a chair because it gets busyyyyy in here on weekdays despite the abundant seating, while I do love a little coffee & study session, it really sucked that nearly all of the tables inside were taken by customers with laptops! Perhaps it's better on weekends as they have signs that implement no laptops on weekends. Anyways, onto the orders... My sister and I ordered off the seasonal menu and tried the Strawberry latte, Pistachio latte and a Pistachio Waffle. Unfortunately, I just felt like neither of the lattes were really lived up to the hype. The strawberry latte is literally just strawberry jam layered with milk and a shot of espresso & the pistachio drink was not very sweet or pistachio flavor forward, it had a bit of a nutty taste towards the end, but honestly just tasted a majority like milk. I definitely think it could benefit from more pistachio flavoring or some pistachio cream smeared on the side of the cup. Also, not sure if they use two different roasts for the drinks, but the strawberry tastes much more burnt than the other. The pistachio waffle was probably the best part, but even then, you cannot really mess up on a waffle that is smeared with pistachio butter. Not sure if it is house made though. I didn't like it, but my sister really likes this place, so it is definitely a matter of opinions. I would definitely recommend stopping by & trying it out yourself!

It is reminiscent of the design behind the trendiest cafes of Kuala Lumpur. The noise level is great if you want a quieter environment to focus and want 2010s pop music in the background. Most people on a weekend afternoon are here working. From a practical standpoint, the tables are higher than what, so get ready to sit real upright if you're going to do work here. *Seasonal caramelized banana matcha latte: 2/5. the banana flavor does not come through and texturally odd to have semi-hard banana solids at the bottom of the drink. *Molly sea salt latte: has both jasmine tea and espresso over milk, topped with a salty cold foam. 3.5/5. The jasmine is the most prominent flavor. I think this drink might benefit from less milk, so that the espresso can still come through.

There are plenty of seats but during the weekends they fill up quickly. I would just recommend coming in earlier. Really enjoyed their strawberry matcha latte and banana latte. The matcha had a strong creamy flavor that complimented the strawberry flavor very well. Judging from the color, it was definitely a decent quality matcha. The hot banana latte was not too sweet and really impressed me with the taste. It wasn't artificial and was very comforting on a colder day. I also tried the oolong tea cheesecake. The texture was moist and the perfect density for a cheesecake. While the tea flavor was light, I would get it again. Excited to try out their other drinks, they also have a selection of desserts like the tiramisu that will sell out quickly.
