Great customer service. Even the bus man gets involved when busy. Food choices cater to all dietary needs.

I was staying in town for a wedding and found this little spot. Fun atmosphere and good service. Food is tasty at a very reasonable price.

The space is rather large, given the size of the small town, one wall is plastered with various college banners and another wall has the "Over 90" club members - community members who are 90+ and still eat at the cafe. It's clean and a well kept space. The menu is manageable, there are nice options for lunch, but we came specifically looking for a breakfast - we were not disappointed. We shared a caramel roll and some coffee to start. Now, the coffee isn't anything to write home about, standard cafe fare. But the caramel roll was a magnificent example of decedent small town goodness, and at $2.15/ea, we took some home for the next day. The breakfast platters were solid. Over easy was over easy. Hashbrowns crispy. Toast, toasted and buttery. The omelettes are well done as well, fluffy eggs surrounding a generous portion of fresh prepped goodness. All told for two of us and to-go rolls, we spent about $20. The Hunter Cafe and Bakery is a nice little gem well worth the 35 minute drive from Fargo. The service is kind and personable. People's tickets are marked by names (not ours, because we were visitors). The whole place feels like a beating heart of a community. Don't expect much more than delicious rural cafe fare, but the food is made with care and plenty of butter. And I am certain to return for those caramel rolls. Totally worth the drive.

On our way to Medora, had to check it out. Definitely not disappointed. The Carmel rolls are to die…read morefor. Breakfast was very good. Service was excellent. Will be sure to come back in the future.

If you want an idyllic adventure in a romantic location, this is the place for you. Winter or…read moresummer, or anywhere in between. The Inn at Maple Crossing is a beautiful 19th century mansion that is set amongst leafy trees besides a beautiful lake. A gorgeous rolling lawn rolls down from the building's rear porch and runs all the way down to the water's edge. You can sip a cool iced tea, or a glass of wine, looking out across the lake at picturesque scenes. Within the Inn itself is a lovely shop, selling a host of trinkets to fine pieces of art, many of which from local artists as well as one of the owners herself, Nancy. Nancy's husband Jim runs the kitchen and you can see his arts major come through in his cooking. Simply put, the food looks and tastes incredible. It is well worth a turn even if you're not staying at the Inn. Jim gives his guests the background and inspiration for his cooking. One evening we were taken on a culinary adventure of southern France, traveling around the coast to northern Italy. The wine, the dishes, the deserts - all wonderful. The bedrooms' decor come straight from a D.H. Lawrence novel or perhaps Mark Twain. White, airy, grand, romantic, bright and clean (important, of course). My wife and I felt like in one day we had been on a full blown romantic vacation for a week. If you're in the area - GO! If you're not in the area, get in the car and GO ANYWAY! This is now one of my favorite spots in the world and we will be back. For sure! On Valentine's Day (Friday night in 2014) they have a 7 course meal accompanied by poetry readings and I think maybe also some musical arrangements. We can't wait to go!!

(breakfast is reserved for guests) (description from their website sums it up best) Sumptuous fixed-price dinners, by reservation only, evening or Sunday midday, served 19th C. country inn style, like you have just come in on the stagecoach and "this is what we are serving tonight!" Choice of two or three entree, featuring such specialties as London Broil, beef or buffalo sirloins, medallions of pork, stuffed pork chops, Chicken Supreme, chicken Florentine, walleye, parchment salmon, and vegetarian entree by request. The owner/chef Jim, has some real culinary talent. His dishes are always well prepared...and are usually presented with a story of sorts. The perfectly prepared entrees originate from all over the world. Dinner is served, starting with a fantastic salad topped with their famous wild raspberry dressing and a basket of rolls. There is usually a soup course before the main entree as well. I especially like the wild rice soups. A dessert course follows, and is served along with coffee or tea. A nice selection of beer and wines is available as well. Lunches are served daily, you can check the website for more info. Sunday midday meal is classic Chicken dinner. You cannot beat the romantic atmosphere for a special night out with your significant other. The tables are candlelit, with linen tablecloths and napkins. A full four course dinner will run $21 per person plus beverage. The drive from Grand Forks area is about 1 hour to The Inn. My recommendation is to reserve a room for the evening, and make reservations for dinner that night. You will then get the entire "Inn Experience"...and have a great breakfast as well. Enjoy! I give The Innkeepers Jim & Nancy high marks!

There was a bin with pre-made biscuits and other warm breakfast items, but the main attraction is the grill. There are a number of breakfast items available that are made fresh on the grill. I wish I had taken a picture of the Denver sandwich which is exactly what it sounds like...a large Denver omelet between two pieces of grilled toast. I had a combo with 2 meats, 2 eggs, and toast. The eggs were fresh which I had scrambled. I chose bacon and ham and got two slices of each. A slice of toast was included, and when I opened the box, there was also a nice serving of hash browns. The price point is unbeatable as all that I mentioned totaled $13. The grill staff was very friendly, and everything is fresh. I usually look for good breakfast places when I stop overnight in my travels, and Valley City didn't have any listed for just breakfast. So I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the gas station and found this cafe. Breakfast surpassed all my expectations, and I hope others in town and traveling through will take the time to stop here and have an outstanding meal to start their day! (They also serve lunch, and from what I could tell, broasted chicken is the star of that show!)
