My family and I had a fabulous meal here! Cocktails, apps, entrees, and service were all excellent and I have been recommending this place since we went! My part of five got the crushed pineapple martini, plain espresso martini, smoked old fashioned, vodka martini and cosmo. All the drinks were great- there are several cocktail options and many are sweet, but they do have good variety, including 3 types of espresso martinis. Beautiful glassware, which I love. For apps we got focaccia (nothing special really), oysters Rockefeller (so amazing!) For sides we had a loaded baked potato (SO huge), lobster Mac, Brussels, and asparagus. Everyone seemed to enjoy, I didn't eat too much since my meal came with risotto. I ordered the special for the night- filet, crispy shrimp, and southern sweet corn risotto. The whole table loved the shrimp and risotto! I really enjoyed it- never had risotto like this, but am not sure it paired well with the filet, but I still ate it all together :) 4 of us ordered steaks and they were all cooked exceptionally well. We eat at steak houses often so we were very impressed! My boyfriend got the lamb and added a lobster tail, both had amazing presentations and he was happy too. I've seen some reviews saying this place is pricey, however the portions reflect this. The level of service, presentation, and how good the food is make it entirely worth it. We were seated near an anniversary and a birthday party, so it was nice to see everyone having a great time. Trent was very attentive and gave us so much info about the menu, answered questions, and laughed at dad jokes. Melanie, the manager checked on us to ensure we were having a great time! The hosts and back servers were also great, utensils always there and water always full. Went on NYE and the restaurant was quite cold despite the cold weather outside. The food was average for what I paid for it. Nothing stood out as over the top. The staff was friendly enough during the busy dinner time. I ordered a Caesar salad (split), lamb chops, and we were recommended the risotto. The lamb chops and so much fat and very little meat. I had the filet with a side of the au gratin potatoes...HOLY SMOKES, they were amazing!! So buttery and creamy, absolutely loved them! My husband chose the shrimp & grits, he loved it as well! I've tried a lot of steak houses in Jax and I consider myself a steak connoisseur and this was by far the best I've had. The steak cut like butter and melted in your mouth. We also had lobster which was tender and cooked to perfection with a side order of Brussels and truffle fries. The dessert and cocktails were the perfect ending to the night. Our server was attentive, funny, made good recommendation based on price point, and the ambiance was clean and perfect for a special occasion. Leave it to Debbie F to get me to try happy hour at Chophouse Thirteen! First- they will get busy, if you want to go for happy hour, get there early. The bar filled up fast! Next- the bar staff are fabulous & drinks well made and balanced. I went with an old fashioned, of course. I think Debbie had a cucumber martini- and that it all her. Food- we ordered sliders and Debbie got wings too. The sliders were superb! I know there was a garnish... maybe beets (which I normally love)- but it was pickled- bleh- I don't love pickled foods other than actual pickles or olives. Chophouse 13 was the perfect place to celebrate my friend's birthday. The service was attentive and super friendly. The ambience was moody, but family friendly, and even had an opening where you could peek into the kitchen. Our waiter, Brandon, described all the different drinks in such great detail that it was so hard for me to choose what to order! I started off with the Chophouse Toast. I could actually taste the hint of lavender, which isn't always the case. The focaccia bread with the olive dip and garlic butter was dangerously good --- I ate entirely too much before ordering! I'd also ordered entirely too much food; the crab cakes, lobster macaroni and cheese, brussels sprouts and purple sweet potato mash was a huge party on my plate. Everything was seasoned so well. The potatoes were super creamy. The Brussels sprouts were the perfect amount of crisp. I did not even need any sort of sauce or topping to add flavor to the crab cakes. The lobster macaroni and cheese was a sizable portion for the $24 price point. After boxing up my large amount of leftovers, I finished my meal off with the Old Souls. This was the strongest old-fashioned I'd ever had in my life and that is not a complaint. I'd asked Brandon what would be a grown man drink because oftentimes I feel as though there's just too much juice and not enough alcohol base in a beverage, but the Old Souls was more than I bargained for. I have never sipped on a drink so slowly in my life! My only qualm with this particular restaurant is that my friend lbrought in a Nothing Bundt cake and it was a $20 storage fee. I know that this isn't atypical, but it still shocks me every time because essentially you're charging me for cooling... Celebrated my birthday here and it was a good time. The ambiance and atmosphere is really intimate and laid back. The part that makes it better is that it seems like the business is prepared to accommodate whatever type of engagement you're having, and all your guests. That's always a plus. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and drinks. He assisted everyone (party of 12) with making decisions and the perfect pairings which were a hit. My guest count changed several times and the serving crew that answered the phones were extremely helpful. Major shoutout to them! Several items were ordered at the table and I don't remember all of them, but for appetizers I ordered chop chop shrimp and oyster Rockefeller for the folks at my end of the table. For an entree, I ordered the 14oz prime NY strip. Someone else ordered the lamb and another ordered the cowboy ribeye. The sides come family style, large enough to share. We had potatoes, sautéed spinach and grilled asparagus. I gave 3 stars because the food was good, but the price point doesn't feel justified. Outside of the oysters or Escargot, there wasn't anything particularly unique or exclusive about the menu, and I feel that you can get a similar experience at places like Outback or LongHorn for noticeably less. We recently moved here from Palm Beach County Florida and our go to steak house was a staple that has been in business for 50 years. We thought we would never find a good steak again. I am so glad we found this place and live close by. We always order Filet Mignon Pittsburgh style with a side of Sauteed mushrooms. We had bar bites only once so I can not speak much on those, other than their food is always delicious. We typically sit in the bar area which is nice and cozy with a fireplace, nice table linens and decor. The restaurant side is very nice as well with tables and booths. They have old fashioned in wood barrels at the bar that are aged in the barrels or you can order one that they make for you. Both are excellent. We are always greeted promptly when we sit down and service is phenomenal. If you want great food, service and drinks you wont be disappointed. My ONLY request is : please offer Sauteed Onions as a side. Many people like to have sauteed onions on their steak and I find it hard to believe this is not offered as a side. read more

I went to Chophouse Thirteen for a belated birthday celebration. Before our reservations, my partner and I visited the bar for happy hour. We ordered the dry rubbed wings, a lemon drop martini for me, and a house old-fashioned for him. My drink was strong and very lemony. My partner enjoyed his old-fashioned. The wings came quickly and were scorching hot. My partner thought they were too salty for his liking. I thought they were tasty. I tasted the salt but didn't think they were over-salty. I also had a passion fruit martini before dinner, which I enjoyed much better. That's going to be my go-to drink when I return. As we settled at our table, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a personalized birthday card signed by some of the staff. It was a lovely touch that added to the celebratory atmosphere. We then decided to opt for two meals from the price-fix menu. The house salads were accompanied with a delicious champagne vinaigrette. Our main courses came out quickly and had a wonderful presentation. I asked for a medium well steak, which came on well and was hard to eat. Our server was able to replace my order, and the new one was perfect. My partner didn't care for his salmon. He said it lacked seasoning and couldn't improve it with the salt and pepper on the table. Our sides were great. The asparagus was tender while still providing a snap when cutting through them. The broccoli had a light, lemony flavor, and the mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy. For dessert, I was treated to two delightful options. The regular berry cheesecake, which was part of the price fix menu, was a sweet and satisfying end to the meal. However, the unexpected key lime pie, complete with a candle and a chocolate birthday wish, stole the show. The pie had a subtle yet refreshing lime flavor that perfectly complemented the creamy filling. It was a delightful surprise and a perfect end to the evening. This should be a five star review. We've been to CH13 several times, last night being the latest with a party of eight. To me, Capital Grille has nothing on them and pricing is a little more reasonable. My order has arrived each time, done to my request. The portions are substantial, and the ambiance is enjoyable, with tables liberally spaced. The noise level is incredibly low, even with a full room. Service has always been on point, attentive without being overbearing, and friendly to boot. I get the impression that staff is treated well. The missing star is for the presence of a party eight seated near us being dressed like homeless indigents. One in a dirty grey tee and sweat pants with a woolen cap on, one in equally unkempt shorts and tee, one with cap on backwards. I know we live in a period of personal expression but this crews outfits would been rejected by Good Will. Sorry but I'm spending $200+ for an experience and management detracted from that by allowing them entry. Standards need to be reviewed and corrected. read more

Great ambiance and decor and our table had a great view into the kitchen which is off to the side of the dining room. We ordered several apps and enjoyed them all including deviled eggs, calamari, chop chop shrimp, oysters Rockefeller and the meatballs. Tonight almost didn't happen, but thanks to Ryan, the GM, who went above and beyond to track down an e-gift my wife received last November, we had an incredible evening. The food was outstanding--I only wish I had room for more! My lamb chops were perfectly cooked to medium, and my wife's trio of filet, scallops, and shrimp was just as impressive. I tried a bite of the scallops, and they melted like butter. Every dish was prepared flawlessly. Chelsea, our server, was fantastic--attentive, personable, and a true delight. Amazing! What a lovely experience. Greeted by the front staff, they all wished us a happy anniversary. We were taken to the table and given a card with all the staff signatures and rose petals. Such a nice touch! Our waiter Nick was personable and attentive. He made great suggestions and even got creative to make us some mocktails. The first thing that came was bread- and even though I try to be gluten free my husband said I had to cheat and just wow- we ate the entire thing lol Then our meals- hubs got the trio, mashed potatoes, and the lobster Mac n cheese. Came here for a late celebration of my birthday and it was incredible. We had the meatballs, calamari and the burrata to share. The burrata with pesto was our undisputed favourite, but the calamari didn't lag that far behind. I had the chophouse mix with steak, scallops and shrimp. I loved it, but we had ordered too much and ended up taking home some leftovers. We shared the truffle fries, mushrooms and Brussel sprouts with our entrees, all very very good! Birthday dinner with my wife on a Friday night. Reservation at 5:45PM and were seated promptly upon arrival. We were the only ones on our side and 30 minutes later, BOOM! It's full! We started off with some Prince Edward Island Mussels (fancy name) for apps and complimentary bread. Then for our Mains, my wife ordered the Snapper which was ok. I had the New York strip topped with Lobster Oscar for an up-charge of $15. Definitely not worth it. Much less than I expected and I was highly disappointed. Shrimp and scallops would have better based on pics here on Yelp for just a little more. Side of Crispy Brussel sprouts was pretty good, but a little oily. Service on the other hand was phenomenal! I've always heard of Choo House, boy was I missing out. Let's start with the appetizer.. THA Truffle Meatballs, tender, beyond your imagination. My forks cut through the meatballs like butter. I'm not a gravy girl, but it was okay. I would have left it off...just not my thing. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was pretty good. Could have used a bit more cheese.. I added more cheese and cream at home to get it to my liking. But it was still good. The salmon was plentiful, flaky and well seasoned. You can taste the herbs, but not where it was over done and can't enjoy the flavor of the salmon. Great balance. The chicken was A LOT, but that's always a good thing. It was juicy and tender. The good: Ok when I first walked in I was surprised that so large of an upscale bar was tucked away in Mandarin. I work nearby but live near southside/ beaches. Second good impression was our bartender John who immediately greeted us, handed us all the menu options, and explained happy hour. The bar was clean, the bar chairs were cozy to sit for hours. He was attentive all night and had some entertaining jokes. The not so great: Unfortunately the old fashioned I ordered was terrible (why is it cloudy?) , I didnt even finish the drink. My friend disliked the key lime cocktail she ordered as well, too sweet & strong. My rose was delicious, but I was shocked that a 9oz rose was $18! Also shocked by the one singular crabcake for $24. My wife and I finished off our vacation here with an amazing meal. To start we had the tuna app and it was fresh and delicious. We split the ribeye and it was cooked spot on. Surprisingly Mid! At these prices there's a basic expectation that certain things are taken for granted. But first, the good stuff: Servers and hostess were affable and kind. They were Easy to talk to and no one had that "I'm just here to work" vibe. My wife's martini (I think it was pineapple?) made her happy and most places leave her unimpressed. Of course decor and ambiance was excellent. I didn't use the bathroom though so I can't speak on the general condition of things. It was a slow night so I imagine everything was good there. Personally my dish (lemon half chicken) was great although my wife tried it and said the chicken was a little dry. I was satisfied. Now the other stuff - most of it is no big deal by themselves but it adds up: Missing ingredient from the drink I ordered from their menu with no real solution provided. My wife ordered truffle meatballs and truffle fries. The fries were fine but the meatballs tasted over-seasoned. We ate less than half of that dish. My friend ordered the lamb, medium, and i wish I had taken a picture of the very raw piece of meat she was given. YUCK! The server took it back and had the "executive chef" remake it, but again where is the attempt to make it right? By the time her food returned we were long past eating our meals and ready for dessert (Cobbler was excellent, bread pudding not so much), so she basically took her whole meal to go. She had to ask for a proper knife to cut the lamb both times it was served to her. (it's the little things) TL:dr Not too bad, not too good. Order the chicken, a bottle of wine, and the cobbler. THIS PLACE! Honestly, one of the best steakhouse dinners my husband and I have ever had. It was an expensive treat but so worth every penny. We came for my birthday dinner and *feasted*. We got the deviled eggs for a starter - all of them were amazing but the salmon was our favorite. The bread was delicious - we had to ask but they happily brought it over. I got the smaller filet mignon and my husband got a 16oz ribeye. Our server recommended ordering the crispy brussels extra crispy and they were AMAZING. The parmesan risotto was the cheesiest and most amazing I have ever eaten. I will be ordering that again next time... Service was amazing. The perfect place for upscale dining in Jacksonville. My family had such a pleasant dining experience here. I found the staff was patient and attentive which I appreciated. As for the food and drinks, it almost feels like you can't make a wrong choice. We had calamari and escargot as appetizers. The calamari was sweet and tangy while the breading remained crispy while the escargot buttery and flavorful. For a main I had the surf and turf, both of which were seasoned and cooked to perfection.
