Luke and The Hindquarter were one of our very first bookings for our wedding, and boy were thrilled to have them! We immediately loved the idea of having food cooked over the fire, but it was the first phone call with Luke that sealed the deal. He's an expert; the way he talks about weddings immediately inspires confidence and calm. We were planning everything from out of state, and Luke made it remarkably easy and fun. Not to mention how stunning the food actually IS! My husband and I had the time of our lives at the tasting, and at the reception we must have heard about a hundred times that it was "the best wedding food ever," from guests. The presentation is out of a magazine... in fact, I believe they were recently featured in Vogue! (Congratulations, wonderful people!!) The menu options are unique, fresh, and basically all of our favorite foods. And speaking of favorite foods, they have these chargrilled oysters! I must have eaten a dozen of these, as the very kind staff kept walking them past my husband and I during cocktail hour. What a tremendously happy memory. Go hungry. I found The Hindquarter through a Yelp event, to which they brought such tasty nibbles as smoked chorizo with tapenade, steak tartare on potato chips, spring rolls with julienned carrots and cucumbers, and lamb meatballs in a creamy cheese sort of sauce. The spring rolls were a flat experience, but it's truly in their meat that they shine. I tried their pork bahn mi at the ArtsRiot Friday food truck event. The meat was perfectly seasoned and seared, the flavors and texture well juxtaposed with pickled vegetables and grilled, buttery roll. For the work and expertise that goes into the meat preparation and flavor combinations, this sandwich was worth every penny of the $9 they were asking for it. I should not have tried it after a late lunch and on such a hot day, though: had I been profoundly hungry when I ordered it, I can only imagine that this would have been a wonder. I've been here more than a few times since it started showing up outside Williams. In my experience, the food is delicious and a nice addition to the lineup of food trucks on university place. The menu changes often, but I can usually find something I want. My favorites so far are the mac and cheese (the spinach could use a bit more chopping to make it easier to eat btw), and the steak frites sandwich. Mostly everything else I've had is good. I do appreciate the fact that every time I've had meat there, it's been high quality and perfectly cooked. It's a rare instance on campus to find that. I haven't seen the mac and cheese in a while, so bring it back? :))) I would also appreciate some hot chocolate. The prices are a tiny bit high, but I'm willing to pay for the quality and the variety. Keep up the good work. read more

The Hindquarter catered our 200 person wedding in October and created an AMAZING experience for the whole party. Luke was incredibly dependable, creative, and responsive to suggestions and requests. He was able to make our dreams come alive with his unique catering style and everyone enjoyed watching his team work. Having the meal being cooked on full display was a fun addition to the ambiance, and the food that came off of the grills was delicious. One of my favorite Burlington food truck options! Not to mention these guys cater for private events :) I have had the pleasure of having their food several times (mostly at the Arts Riot Food Truck night), once at the Vermont Wedding Affaire out at Shelburne Farms, and another at concert event at All Souls Interfaith Gathering. Each time I was equally impressed with the quality the detail for food truck fare. The Hindquarter team catered my husband's and my wedding last weekend & blew our guests away. Lamb meatballs with fresh tomato slices on skewers never made it very far, as the server was immediately surrounded when they appeared. She, thoughtfully, made sure to save one for my husband and me. The buffet table had a delicious variety of items off the grill & the truck served up sandwiches. I didn't have one, but the foraged mushroom grilled cheese sandwiches have been a hot topic of conversation for the past week. Everyone raved about the high quality and variety of the foods they served & we could not have been happier with the ease of planning & communication. Please allow me to be the first VT person to review this great red food truck. The Hindquarter offers quality food at a somewhat higher price but the taste of the food is worth it. Best breakfast sandwich Ive ever had. It beat my old favorite and that was a quality breakfast sandwich too. Thats the tip of the iceberg of the always changing Hindquarter menu. I was really excited to try this food truck at the Artsriot food truck event on Fridays, but I must say I'm disappointed. The only most popular options are the banh mi and crispy duck. The inside is the only difference between the two. They are both priced at $9, which is more expensive than I'm used to for food trucks. From Hindquarter, I got the crispy duck over the banh mi. This definitely disappointed me. The duck by itself would've been really good, but with cucumbers dipped in vinegar and the french style buns, I couldn't taste the duck too much. The duck itself was bye crispy and good, but it was too mild for my tastes. Duck should always be very rich in flavor for my Asian tastes. All the food are Americanized so I didn't enjoy that either. I'd probably return to try the banh mi so I'd say try to get the duck without the cucumbers and vinegar or have those on the side. read more

Luke & his team catered my wedding in Huntington, Vermont this weekend and I could not have been more thrilled with the food & service. Crispy duck, not ducky nor crispy. Yuk, it was more of a bread crumb patty with specks of meat, plenty of sour pickle slices, home made i guess (keep practicing). Thanks to the Hindquarter and their staff, our wedding went smoothly! They prepared delicious food and setup the tables for dinner. Food included: a spit roasted whole pig, paella, polenta, chicken which were all shared family style as we requested. The food and staff created the exact ambiance we were looking for, warm, welcoming and enjoyable. We keep getting compliments on how delicious the food was from our guests!
