The deck outside was a great place to eat lunch, and the starry view from the skylight made it oh so romantic. If you are into earth friendly camping, you will enjoy this place- it has an outdoor shower and composting toliet. We loved these amenities, but some may not. :) Another note is that it can really only accomodate two. Perfect for a couple's getaway. It was just private enough, since it is a bed and breakfast type setting, the owners live in a house far enough away for you to have privacy, and close enough to be able to ask questions. They recommended an awesome hike close by, provided everything we needed to be comfortable, and were easy to communicate with prior to our trip and during. It was amazing and I can't wait to go back! VERY affordable too. Our trip to Ashland wouldn't have been half as cool if we had stayed elsewhere.

Cindy opened the Guest House to us and it was amazing. We spent every evening on the porch looking at Mt Shasta, smelling the pines and one evening watching a bear lumber down the driveway. Breakfast was served at the McCloud Hotel. We placed our order the night before and the meals were made to order, on time, a perfect portion and very delicious. Sight seeing, around the area, was really fun. We fished, played golf at the McCloud golf course, swam in the river, took drives and saw where family had lived. Cindy has pleasant staff and we enjoyed chatting with Nicole. This is an out of the way and beautiful part of California. I strongly suggest the Guest House or the McCloud Hotel.

The cabin now has electricity, which is an improvement from our first visit when the lighting was all gas-lamp. Those lamps were quaint and cool, but the electric lights are nice. There's a new picture window and newer wood stove now too, so the cabin is brighter during the day and you have heat all night long. Take a look through the photo album and you'll see that Hilda (check the calendar in the main room) has been a part of the cabin for many years.

He paid no rent and still got more consistency than we did. Two bedrooms were in a damp basement with strong "unsolved case" energy. Lights didn't work in multiple rooms. Water dispensers? Empty. For a property with a $500 deposit and a push to buy trip insurance, we expected basic functionality. Instead, we got a scavenger hunt for working utilities. We contacted them during the stay and escalated to Airbnb when nothing improved. The responses were mostly gaslighting and excuses. Airbnb, not the property managers, offered a $200 coupon, which we declined. That wasn't a resolution. It was hush money. Later, we noticed the listing had been quietly edited, changing the details that had misled us. No accountability, no explanation. Just a sweep under the rug once the damage was done. If they rebranded this as a haunted escape room with shower rationing and an emotional support cockroach, maybe it would work. But as a vacation rental? Absolutely not. My credit card ruled in favor of my dispute and I got our full refund. If you think this review is bad, wait until you see the TikTok series.

The woman turned out to be the "owner" who lied saying she was not on the property to help us but "sure check in early if your in a rush and to figure it out (how would we do that without an employee?) as we could see her exiting the property at the same time. We politely asked for a moment of her time to try and get checked in as she said then on the phone it was OKAY. She was rambling a mile a minute and at this point I decided i didn't feel safe staying here and asked if I could get a refund. She just screamed " BYE BYE BYE BYE " and told me to " get the f*ck off her property " she was very aggressive and I truly have never experienced anything like this. I felt like I was dealing with a drug addict... needless to say I do not recommend staying there. We will be spending the night in the car instead of putting our well being at risk. We'd been desperate to get out of the…read morecity for a while, so we packed the car & our little rescue-mutt & headed away into the wilderness for our 18th anniversary. The Miner's Cabin offered a perfect, romantic, rustic retreat for us. You should think of your stay there as, "glamping". The cosy, one-room-loft-bedroom cabin is clean and basic, the structure itself, utterly charming. The bathroom is but a toilet, the entire room the shower cubicle & it's VERY clean, but most bathing happened in the river, shh, I'm not gonna lie. The cabin's heart is the pretty balcony that looks out over the crystal-clear river, where we spent a lot of our time relaxing and cooking. The kitchen is only a small bar fridge (though they do provide a large ice chest with ample space - just don't forget to buy ice), a sink, a microwave, toaster oven & an electric frying pan. Being outdoors folks though & a cook, we came prepared. I brought a portable gas burner which made the balcony a charming spot to fry up the beautiful, Steelhead Trout I was catching (FANTASTIC fishing). We ate meals out there too, to the majestic view of the river, the mountains & the pines, immediately before us. I also brought my cast iron dutch oven & used the wonderful, functional fire pit/ BBQ down on the river rock patio to roast vegetables in the fire. If you are wise about when to open and close windows at appropriate parts of the day, the Miner's Cabin stays wonderfully cool, even in the hottest of summer days as we experienced at around 103F. I think we used the swamp cooler once for an hour out of curiosity for what it may do. At night, the incredibly comfortable loft bed was heaven. We'd open up the pretty gable windows and enjoy the cool, evening breeze and sound of the lively river. The big house next door, also owned by Heidi, had a large family group staying there. We'd only see them sometimes when we'd use the driveway which is shared. Even with their nearby presence, the cabin felt very secluded. Occasionally folks would float by down the river and you'd share a wave or smile. You can hear the highway which is quite incongruous as you seem so far away from civilization. The river water is incredible. Our dog's coat and our hair and skin have never felt so good from lolling about in the water. Heidi has very detailed instructions and information available on the website and in the email package. Be sure to read them so you know exactly what you're in for and any additional costs like a dog fee etc. All the info you need is there. Heidi is very communicative. If you want the kind of no-frills, communing with nature experience we were after, this place is for YOU!

Riverfront campsites are overgrown with brush so ricer access is very limited, the boat ramp is clogged with thick green alge, trash and unusable. No maintenance and unsafe conditions for livestock continue to be a problem. All of the experienced and professional employees have been fired and replaced with friends and family of the new management. Owners are selling their shares or giving the back to the ranch. They are currently facing a $300,000. Dollar deficit and asking for higher assesments with a massive cut in available service. Go ahead and fact check this. I dare you.
