The owners have always been very accommodating, friendly and are kind. It is a very rustic building with a lot of history behind it. This is a beautiful B&B and we love it and the ambiance here. The food that was prepared for us was outstanding and top notch. Desserts were superb and I am not a dessert person at all. The town of McCloud is also very quaint & rich in history. There is lots to do in the area such as McCloud falls (all three of them) and much more. My wife and I definitely recommend the McCloud River B&B. Go and enjoy as we have done now several times.

I was so happy with my bed and breakfast experience that I definitely will trust my fellow reviewers in the future. First, Janelle was super accommodating and let me check in early because I would be attending the wedding and needed to get ready. She followed up with me on text message as to my arrival time to make sure that she would be there to greet me. When I walked in, I noticed my phone number was coded to the key pad entrance to the B&B. So cool! Janelle was there to greet me and give me an envelope with my key and instructions. I went up with her to the bedroom and needless to say, was so impressed with her style and quality that she brings to her B&B. The room seemed to be flawless in the way that she spent time picking out pictures and linens. The linens were even washed in a very nice fabric softener and didn't have that normal "hotel" smell. I was able to get the Sun Dial Room, and even though it was the most expensive, it was definitely worth every penny. There was a fresh, large bottle of water in the room with chocolates. I had free wifi and a nice flat screen TV. A jacuzzi tub. And oh, did I mention.. the best, most comfortable bed that I never wanted to leave? Top it off.. breakfast in the morning makes me giddy just thinking about it. I had french toast, a vegetable frittata, potatoes, chicken/apple sausage, fresh juice and coffee. Janelle served breakfast promptly at 8:30 and I was definitely there with bells on. Everything was served family style and while eating breakfast you are able to enjoy the company of other guests, which makes breakfast that much more entertaining. For a few bucks more, stay at this bed and breakfast. Completely avoid the Howard Johnson or other chain hotel. You will not be disappointed.

They allow pets in certain rooms which is nice if you're traveling with dogs! I enjoyed how communicative the staff were. If you needed something, you can text a number and they were on it! They advertise that you may not have service here, but we had service and they also had wifi. They had great views outside on the deck. The grounds were nicely maintained. It was very easy to get here and right off highway 5. On the other hand, being a bed and breakfast I was expecting breakfast to be a bit better tasting. Breakfast is included in your stay. They provide fruit, yogurt, granola, juice, coffee, and toast. You get to also choose one main entree served with a side of potatoes. The main entree rotates so it's different daily. Overall breakfast could definitely be improved taste wise, but it's very convenient and nice of them to do this. Another downfall was the temperature in the main lobby/ dining area. They ran it hot in there and if you needed to get ice (they don't have ice machines, so they provide buckets of ice) it was all melted. This happened twice. Minor complaints!

Livin' It Up at the Old Lewiston Inn…read more The Old Lewiston Inn is located in a tiny town that was once bustling with miners. Situated just 17 miles east of Weaverville, the inn provides the perfect spot for vacationers wanting to escape to serenity. With four rooms overlooking the Trinity River, tranquility soon encompasses guests. The rooms are spacious with all of the comforts of home. Each room has a refrigerator and coffeemaker. For guests who don't want to make coffee, fresh coffee is served in the dining room each morning starting at 7:30. A hot breakfast is served each morning at 8:00. After breakfast lodgers can watch TV, relax on the deck, or walk down to the river--just steps from the inn. There are many outdoor activities visitors can take part in. Many interesting sites are within walking distance of the Old Lewiston Inn. On the corner is an antique store. Just around the bend is the Schoolhouse Museum. The school opened in 1958 when the Trinity Dam was being built. With a short, five-minute drive, you can see the fish hatchery. There are many opportunities for hiking, boating, and fishing on the lake. Visitors can also head to the dam and have a picnic. The local store even has a book exchange for those who love to read. Active guests will enjoy hiking and biking in Lewiston as they search for varied forms of wildlife. Geese, otters, egrets and dozens of other species of birds are abundant in the area. The birds are often seen competing for fish in the local waters. Flying squirrels even inhabit the area. Hundreds of plants dot the landscape including Tiger Lilies, Bleeding Hearts, and Buttercups. Many great daytrip adventures are available as well. The Trinity Alps, Whiskeytown, and Weaverville are all only about a half-hour away. These are all great excursions. Take a day to explore one and make some amazing memories. Take advantage of the inn's week-long special and explore a couple of them. When you go to the Old Lewiston Inn, you arrive as strangers and leave as friends. Some who have stayed at the inn return frequently to relax and hang out with Dave and Jessica. Bring your fishing pole and Dave might even take you to his secret fishing hole.

We loved having paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes right at the house -- made it easy to get out on the water whenever we wanted. The scenery around the property was stunning, truly some of the best views we've seen. On top of that, the service was outstanding -- you could tell they really care about making your stay special. There were spider webs everywhere, ceiling fans looked like they hadn't been cleaned. Even their own cleaning crew said it was bad. This was concerning to me because they charge everyone a $265 cleaning fee. Then when this was discussed with Lori, she was confused as to why we didn't bring it up at check in. I didn't know I had to thoroughly inspect the cleanliness of a rental upon arrival. I thought it was standard. Not here apparently. Lori was responsive but continued to make comments as things came up like "I'm surprised you're deciding to stay", as if we didn't pay $800/night to stay there. Their stove burners had issues the whole weekend, the slider wouldn't lock, they were using a PVC pipe for safety. House was very dated for the price. Views were beautiful but Wasn't impressed with the house at all.
