I do lash lifts every 2 months, and threading maybe every 1-1.5 months? Every person is different, but definitely look ahead to book, she books out fast! I'll list out some pros and cons: Pros: Does a nice job shaping brows Super efficient- She can do my brows and cheeks in 5 minutes flat. It's rather impressive. Extremely close to my house Cons: Although she's incredibly fast, she has had multiple customers at the same time. I appreciate the efficiency, but it feels impersonal. I've had to wait close to a half hour before with an appointment as I think walk ins are being worked in. As a work around I started booking the first appointment of the day to avoid multiple clients at the same time. Additionally, the cancellation policy is extremely strict. It's clearly stated on the website, but you will be charged the full amount of your services for cancelling within 24 hours. This irks me as my services take 5 minutes and I've been there when multiple customers are being cared for. I suppose you can make the argument that business is lost, but it's a dubious argument at best. On my most recent visit I had the pleasure of a flat tire the morning of my appointment. I called to cancel the appointment and then was subsequently charged $35 for services. In all fairness it's states online that you will be charged, but it felt like poor customer service. A credit for subsequent services would have been much appreciated. At any rate I think she does a good job, but I'd like to go somewhere where they spend a little more time and are more understanding about cancellation charges and unforeseen circumstances like car woes. read more

My favorite hair stylist and favorite eyebrow goddess have joined their amazing services at a new salon called The Hive. Located in a slate blue building right on NE Broadway, across from Swift, this new salon is charming! It's clean, bright, artfully decorated in a mid century mod style creating a calm and welcoming space. Even their coffee bar is high tech! Carrie has been my hair stylist for over 15 years and I won't even consider having anyone else color or cut my hair. Seriously. If Carrie is booked, I will go without rather than have anyone else touch my hair. Carrie is a color goddess! Recently I decided to add low lights because my blonde hair was looking too white because gray hairs have taken over a, the gray used to make me look blonder but recently it is washing me out. Carrie added darker blonde around my hairline framing my face, adding a much needed contrast against my fair skin. Plus she put highlights around my roots. After the blow out, the other ladies at the salon complimented me and couldn't believe the difference. We all smiled because we have experienced "the Carrie magic." My hair was shiny, straight, blonde with lots of natural shades. Amazing. When I went to dinner that night, my friends shouted, "oh my God, who did your hair?" before they even said hello! Not that I minded. Point being, when I leave her salon, I look my personal best. Every. Single. Time. Even if I don't have plans that night, I make them or go out alone because I can not waste an exceptional hair day. As we all know, there is nothing that feels as good as a good hair day. For brows, I much prefer threading over waxing or sugaring. Threading pulls out the entire hair so it lasts longer while being gentler on the skin and more precise. I've gone to other threading experts and then I met Dae, and now Dae, and only Dae, does my brows! She is so fast, yet so precise. Sometimes threading can sting, but when the threading is done by the magical Dae, I barely feel it. I also have Dae dye my brows to a dark blonde, giving me a much needed contrast making my eyes stand out. It lasts 6 weeks which times perfectly with my hair cuts. With both of these experts in the same salon, it's not only saves time, you are getting the best of both professions.they are both lovely people and have really good energy, which matters to me. So grateful I found Dae. For someone who has plucked and waxed her eyebrows her whole life, Dae is a godsend. I've seen eyebrows that have been tattooed on, and frankly, it's not for me. Microblading is the answer unless you want to look like a clown. I do not. I did some research around the Portland area - wanting to price check and read reviews...but I mostly wanted to see before and after shots. That's where the proof is. After months of looking and becoming extremely discouraged, I found Dae via instagram. Her before and after pics were not alarming or scary. Everyone image looked spot on and extremely natural. Dae's prices are comprable if not less than others in Portland. I made an appointment. She's knowledgeable, friendly and absolutely efficient. A joy to chat with, while she does her thing.
