Had an absolutely fabulous experience at The Hive! I spent eight days there and loved the location which is close to the trendy & hip Modi neighborhood filled with quaint shops, boutiques and fantastic restaurants. It's also close to the train station, a quick walk to the Colosseum, and a 10 minute taxi to the Piazza Navona and Trevi Fountain area although some of my friends walked. The rooms are spacious and modern with recently upgraded bathrooms, plenty of room for your clothes including a large space for your suitcase, a refrigerator, safe, and working air conditioner. The daily breakfast served on the fifth floor was more than satisfying! Lots of Italian, European and American standards. WhenI travel I prefer the foods of the locals so I enjoyed fresh ricotta and sautéed spinach every morning with my eggs along with the most delicious olive oil & sea salt focaccia. Ano of course a cappuccino or two! It was the best way to start my day! They also had lots of fresh fruit, even more tarts and pastries, pancakes, oatmeal, bacon, yogurt, granola. Seating both inside and out on the rooftop patio, which is where I started my day. We had dinner at the same restaurant several nights and the food was fantastic! I stayed a few days more than my friends and the manager noticed that I was dining alone and let me know that he and the staff would take care of me. And they did! Grazie! The concierge was helpful with the few requests I had like arranging a taxi to the airport at 3:30 am and suggestions for a cooking class. There is a small grocery store, Coop, right around the corner and I stocked up on big bottles of water and snacks. Several great restaurants within blocks. I highly recommend Bono Bottega Nostrana just around the corner for the most delicious sandwiches! Definitely visit the Basilica Di Santa Maria Maggiore just a block away. It's one of the most significant of the four basilicas in Rome and also the largest. It is exquisitely beautiful and filled with incredible art, mosaics, frescos, statues and gilded gold everywhere! Even if you aren't religious, it's worth visiting for the history and art. Will definitely consider staying at The Hive the next time I am in Rome!

This hotel has amazing air conditioning which is critical right now due to unprecedented heat wave in Italy, and The Hive has an amazing rooftop restaurant and bar. We enjoyed having coffee and pastries from the buffet while overlooking the rooftops all the way to the capital and beyond. We even made a point of having our night cap up there, and their spritzes were on point. The breakfast was so/so, and generally better food and coffee await you just outside the hotel and train station. As for the staff, they were so helpful and called cabs for us whenever we wanted. The lobby is gorgeous and modern. And so close to Roma termini station! As for the room, so quiet and so comfortable! The bathroom was super large compared to everywhere else I've stayed. And the sheets were soft and great pillows too! We could really walk around the coliseum and wear ourselves out and come back to our hotel to get good rest. Five stars for cleanliness and comfort, though the food would get only 2-3 stars. Ps: there are more benefits and less clerical issues when you book directly from hotel websites in Italy.

We reserved a table on the rooftop for my birthday dinner and WOW it was an incredible evening! Our waiter was extremely nice, attentive and gave us amazing service. The rooftop is gorgeous, it feels like a garden with a view! The food was super delicious. We had fresh tomatoes and basil from their garden mixed with feta cheese for an appetizer (so yummy). For dinner, I had the steak and my husband had the lamb chops. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and so tasty!! It was an amazing night, thank you!!!

Staying here for a couple of nights this week and was here for a night last week. This a hidden gem in the many hotels, restaurants, and bars that cover Rome. The Hive is simply amazing boasting a welcoming reception area, bar on the fifth floor, and tons of well equipped rooms. The staff, especially Francesca and Andrea, welcome me and made me feel at home. The rooms are of a good size, have huge bathrooms, and televisions that have a variety of channels. Also, the rooms are updated with tons of USB and international plugs and super fast wifi. I really do feel at home here as the beds are comfortable and the rooms are quiet. I would recommend that anyone visiting Rome come here. Check out hotels.com for good rates!! It is definitely easy to get around with the Termini train station just being a 10 min walk away and other Rome must sees being so close! I cannot wait to come back here again!!

I spent 4 days here with my family. We went to the restaurant on the last day it was one of my favorites especially the charcuterie board. The vibe is immaculate with marble floors in the lobby and the rooms being a good size. I would definitely recommend to stay here if your in roma. We went to the gym one day it was a little pricey 15£ and not alot of equipment.

Loved it!!! Steps away from the center of historic Rome, this is a nice & comfy hotel. I would include the breakfast with your reservation to start your day of touring the ruins of ancient Rome. After flying 16.5 hours from California, it was super easy to take the Leonardo Train transfer from Rome's international airport directly (no stops) to the "mercatocentrale.it/roma" train station. Literally 3 blocks to the Hive hotel. We walked with our luggage to the hotel, but the cobblestone streets and sidewalks make it not easy, but definitely possible. We were in walking distance (like less than a mike to walk) of every major ancient & artistic site. We took the "Red Bus" to tour the city which was nice, but when we walked it was much more charming. Btw, the sunsets behind the Colosseum and Roman architecture is stunning. The is a block away from a number of street caffe' and restaurants that you can yelp. We are coming back in a week and staying at the Hive again. Loved it!!!

If you are wanting to stay at a full-service, Hilton branded hotel property while in Rome without…read moregoing bankrupt doing so, The Doubletree Hotel by Hilton Rome Monti would be a solid choice. By Rome standards for a full-service hotel, it would be considered affordable by many. But just to be clear, it is not ultra-inexpensive. For the money, it is firmly in the 4-star hotel genre (getting a 5-star Yelp rating from me within this category because I could find nothing wrong with it during my stay). So, while it may not have crystal chandeliers and butlers running around, it is definitely not a student tourist level hostel. It has modern, comfortable public spaces, elevators that hold more than 2 people at a time, a restaurant with a good breakfast spread, and well-appointed guest rooms with modern amenities and AC. I really don't need more than that when I am traveling solo for business so it was perfect for me given that set of circumstances. As a comparison, I have stayed at a 5-star Rome hotel which was absolutely a step up in terms of service, luxury features, and a sense of a personal attention. But when I am alone on business, that level of service is not necessary and can feel uncomfortable to me. There are plenty of cafe's and restaurants within a 10 min walk and it is a reasonable walk to attractions such as the Opera House, the Coliseum, and the Trevi Fountain. It is also a 10-minute walk to the main terminal Rome train station and the cool, local Nuovo Mercato Esquilino if you are into that type of thing like I am. I spent early mornings walking somewhere for coffee and then through the Mercato to watch the vendors work to ready their produce and meat to be pawed over by early restauranteurs which was a cool look at the underbelly life of this great city. I really liked that this hotel is not right up against the busy street and, on at least 2 sides of the building, there are streets that are not constantly jammed with the noise of traffic. My room fronted one of the quiet sides. It is unclear to me if I was upgraded to a nicer than standard room location because of my Hilton loyalty status but I had a very quiet stay in a room that was impeccably clean and could be easily darked out during the day if I needed a restorative nap for my jet lag. The gym was reasonably appointed and open 24/7 and the wi-fi speed was top notch. I had a great stay here for the money. Based on all of this, when in Rome in the future as a solo business traveler, I would be very happy to stay here again.

That made the location extremely convenient. The hotel sits a short walk from Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, where Pope Francis is buried. Some areas near the main train station are often described as unsafe by Italian standards. We did not experience that near the hotel. Tourists and locals were out late, and the neighborhood stayed active into the evening. Rome is compact and easy to navigate. Most major attractions felt reachable within about 20 minutes by taxi, bus, or rail. We tried to visit the Trevi Fountain at 10:00 pm to avoid crowds. That plan failed completely(see pic). It was packed. Locals eat later than in the U.S., and many parts of the city stay busy well into the night. Restaurants remain open late. A note for U.S. travelers. European hotel rooms run smaller for the price. Even using Hilton points, our room would have cost close to $700 per night USD and felt small. The hotel offers a pleasant rooftop bar and a spacious lobby with multiple seating areas. The buffet breakfast was a solid, comfortable way to start the day. It was included for us as Hilton Diamond members. I am unsure of the cash price. Overall, the location and amenities make this a smart pre-cruise choice, especially for travelers relying on rail connections.

The hotel is a beautiful structure and while a bit dated in some areas the overall appearance is very good and old world like I expected. Our room was very nice though there was no place to sit and read as the only chair was at a desk and another side chair that was not practical for reading. I would recommend they consider that. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I ever experienced in all my years of traveling with so many options you cannot possibly try them all. The omelette chef was so accommodating and friendly. We had lunch there the day we arrived, breakfast each day and even decided to dine there for dinner one night instead of going out. All the servers went above and beyond for us and made us feel so welcome. They have live music that is very classy and works great for the environment of the hotel. We saw several different duos for evening and breakfast services. We spent three nights in this hotel before we boarded our cruise ship and really enjoyed every minute there. I highly recommend this hotel if you are traveling to Rome.

We were able to walk to great shopping, restaurants and sites, including the colosseum and Trevi fountain. Clean accommodations and friendly staff. With jet lag, our sleep schedule was sporadic. Pro tip: Ironing boards/iron not in room and must be requested via Front Desk. However, you can have up to TWO items pressed daily Free. I deducted one star because our bed was lumpy - time to switch out the mattress! And be sure to request a room on floors 1-3. The fourth floor is right below the gym and very noisy during gym hours.

Upon arrival we were greeted with the welcoming staff and escorted into the ruins beyond the lobby where we were brought a lovely tiramisu welcome treat to enjoy while taking in the ruins. The room is impressively large with a huge bathroom. We had a plush king sized bed with cozy down bedding. The thick beautiful curtains ensured that the room was perfectly dark for great sleep even if we wanted a mid day nap. There was a lovely little balcony with a view of the courtyard. With the curtains open the natural light is perfect. The bed was comfortable and we Sisto very nicely here. The bathroom is very big with a walk in shower and bidet with all toiletries needed to have a comfortable stay. This was not a problem and we stayed in this room as warming towels us a perk but not a requirement.
