The bed was harder than laying on the ground , (although my husband liked it, the plumbing and the "smell " was the worst complaint. The hotel staff was accommodating and helpful and the location of the hotel was nice but I don't think s we would stay here again.

This place earns a very legit 5 stars. Everything you need from a Hotel is delivered to you with great service and attitude. The quality of the rooms is comforting and adds to your stay. The beds are very comfortable on the firm side. Their is a very large wadobe with many hangers. Mini fridge with affordable wines, peroni, soda and waters. A large flat screen with many Italian stations, and if you want they can turn on english channels for you The bathrooms are very modern with a great shower. Everyone is fabulous at serving you and the location is perfect to go anywhere inside the walls of Rome. You are within walking distance to many of the dowtown historical sites as well as a few blocks from the Metro. The restaurant on top of the hotel is wonderful. Great food great cocktails and affordable. Breakfast is also great with everything you need 6 different juices Cereal bread and bakery items Eggs and fabulous bacon Fruits and salads Meat and cheeses This is a fabulous Hotel. 4 stars all the way at a great price!!!

Disgusting shower curtain not strung up properly some holes are not aligned with the rungs.

Palace? Should be named Romanico Ruins instead. Thanks for lighting the fire for me to write this review immediately! It's been awhile since I was so moved to write a saga (you've been forewarned) for the series of unfortunate events. Rounding out the last stop of our Italy tour with Gate 1, we arrived at this hotel eager to wash up after Pompeii. They gave us the room of 443 originally and we avoided the "slow" elevators by climbing up 5 flights of stairs (yes it's typical for hotel lobbies to start at floor 0). My SO arrived at the room before me and to his horror he found a woman peacefully sleeping on the bed. Thankfully that was the only thing happening and he quickly retreated. When we mentioned this disaster to the front desk they seemed moderately surprised and apologized curtly. They immediately scrambled together a new room assignment which one of the hotel staff escorted me to and helped me carry my SO's backpack. We weaved down a confusing labyrinth to the new (backup) room 435. The hotel is located in Rome so I understand that the big city situation makes it desperate for space. All right there's hundreds of rooms in the hotel and I honestly think it's shameful that they even tried renting out the sad excuse for a room. Allow me to paint a picture for you. Tiny closet of a room with 2 twin beds sloppily pushed together against a headboard excessively spray painted in gold with fading painted designs. At this point I badly wanted to shower and freshen up after nearly a full day of traveling. My SO arrived at the room toting my checked bag that had a HUGE chalk writing of the WRONG original room number on the luggage itself. WHY on earth would you graffiti your guests' luggage, when all of the other locations we stayed figured out how to use discreet sticky note or luggage tag system. I know chalk can wash/rub off, but it's still unnecessary! My SO still didn't see any sign of his bag. Later on they delivered his bag separately and it had the room 133 scrawled on it so also very incorrect! My SO also was wholly displeased with the tiny room and wanted to see a larger room noting cost difference to see if it's worth it to upgrade. The hotel staff showed us an example of the larger room and it was not significantly larger, it had 2 luggage rack type holders but the annoying tub/shower combo we hated from Royal Continental in Naples. The tub/shower had the strange windowpane on the side instead of a shower curtain, which seemed unsecured, so it could float away easily and lead to water flooding. We declined the larger room for an extra €60/night. I can't fathom giving any more money to this business who feigns concern for their mistake. To their credit, on the last night they sent up a bottle of complimentary Merlot after I submitted the scathing survey. However, it was too little too late at that point and we couldn't even drink it so we packed it away. I won't write paragraphs about each issue but let's just throw them into a list. - Smaller and dingier room compared to other guests! My SO also remarked that the room he originally walked in on with the surprise guest sleeping looked larger! This confirms my suspicion that this is a back up room that should not have been used at all! - No full size mirror, they could have easily attached this to the back of the dresser. - No tissues, we had to ask for a box at the front desk. - Only 1 luggage rack, no extras when we asked. - SMALL upright shower does not have a rack for toiletries inside. I had to put them on the narrow ledge while showering and reach out to grab... This is ridiculous! - Sharp shower knob. I knocked my head against this while trying to step into the shower ending up in a great deal of pain. - Shower did not properly drain, especially with moldy cloth curtain. Curtain did not have a plastic LINER. Yep you can see why it's disgusting and moldy right? - Shower curtain was not properly attached nor is it on a real rod. It's just thrown together on a flimsy white tension rod reminiscent of the college dorm days but not a hotel... - Shower curtain from the weight of the water actually FELL on me while I was showering and would not properly go back on the wall! - Mentioned but never fixed. - The floor is completely soaked after showering since we have to push the curtain aside for it to drain properly and it spills all over! - World's smallest and uneven table (guess what it's also spray painted in gold). - Last night of our stay they DEACTIVATED or "reset" the key, so we got all the way up to the room and it did not work then had to go back down! - Asked for recommendations of good restaurants near by and chose Ad Hoc, they made a "reservation" for 7:30pm. Double checked details 2x and once we arrived they had nothing for us! The front desk made a reservation for Hard Rock instead of Ad Hoc!

Our expectations for this place were low, but we were pleasantly surprised. This is a nice, little hotel near the American Embassy in Rome. The neighborhood is quiet, but it's only a ten minute walk to Piazza Barberini/Trevi Fountain/Spanish Steps. The rooms are small, but it wasn't uncomfortably so. We had no issues with our A/C. We were able to control it from the room and had it at what was likely frigid by European standards, but certainly comfortable for us. The view isn't anything to write home about (we overlooked a little roof top restaurant), but it wasn't horrible either. The rooftop restaurant was the perfect spot for breakfast (typical European style breakfast...pastries, fruits, eggs/bacon, yogurts, cereals) with a very decent cappucino. We also went up for nightcaps a couple times and entertained the staff. The beds were relatively comfortable, not as hard as our previous hotel in Sorrento, but certainly not as nice as the pillow-top at home. The bathroom was slightly annoying in that there was no curtain, only a weird piece of glass that covered the barest amount of the tub...so basically, every time we showered...we flooded the bathroom (sorry to the staff that cleaned that up). The tub was jetted, and I took advantage of that...it was very nice (though slightly more narrow than I am used to). They provide shampoo and soaps, but no lotion or conditioner. There is a built in hair dryer. My hair dryer wasn't working, but a call to the front desk resulted in a very quick fix. For the very close proximity to other rooms, we had no noise complaints. Unless someone was right outside our door, we didn't hear them. All in all, I would stay here again. It may not be a Westin or a Hilton...but it met our needs perfectly!

We booked the Hotel Romanico Palace for two reasons - one because there was a good deal on Secret Escapes and two because of the garish decoration. There are only so many clean lined hotels you can stay in before you need a little bit of old school style! We arrived prior to check in time but our room was ready, which was welcome news after an early start that morning. We were taken upstairs by concierge and had the room explained to us (safe in the wardrobe, use the key to activate the electricity) and then left. There was a knock on the door a few moments later as the front desk had photocopied my old American visa rather than passport page, but they were very apologetic and it was sorted very quickly. The room was well appointed, with a large bed, clean bathroom and plenty of wardrobe space. I personally really liked the decoration, especially the large drapes! Breakfast is served on the 7th floor, where you can get some excellent views of the city. Be sure to step outside for the best photos. Breakfast itself was well done, continental style but with eggs & bacon available on demand for those who felt the need. Location wise, the hotel is slightly out of the way from the tourist spots, which is a welcome relief after having selfie sticks and the like thrust at you throughout the day. It's only a 15 minute walk to the Spanish Steps and about 10 minutes to the nearest Metro. Check out was easy - remember than a city tax is payable per night - and we were quickly on our way back to the airport. A nice, comfortable stay that was well worth the money we paid.

A wonderful place to stay. The people were very congenial and always helpful. The rooms were tastefully decorated with lots of space and high ceilings.Breakfast is served in an amazing roof garden which had great coffees and cappuchinos. I would definately reccommend this hotel for anyone who wants a nice, relaxful hotel!

By Rome standards for a full-service hotel, it would be considered affordable by many. But just to be clear, it is not ultra-inexpensive. For the money, it is firmly in the 4-star hotel genre (getting a 5-star Yelp rating from me within this category because I could find nothing wrong with it during my stay). So, while it may not have crystal chandeliers and butlers running around, it is definitely not a student tourist level hostel. It has modern, comfortable public spaces, elevators that hold more than 2 people at a time, a restaurant with a good breakfast spread, and well-appointed guest rooms with modern amenities and AC. I really don't need more than that when I am traveling solo for business so it was perfect for me given that set of circumstances. As a comparison, I have stayed at a 5-star Rome hotel which was absolutely a step up in terms of service, luxury features, and a sense of a personal attention. But when I am alone on business, that level of service is not necessary and can feel uncomfortable to me. There are plenty of cafe's and restaurants within a 10 min walk and it is a reasonable walk to attractions such as the Opera House, the Coliseum, and the Trevi Fountain. It is also a 10-minute walk to the main terminal Rome train station and the cool, local Nuovo Mercato Esquilino if you are into that type of thing like I am. I spent early mornings walking somewhere for coffee and then through the Mercato to watch the vendors work to ready their produce and meat to be pawed over by early restauranteurs which was a cool look at the underbelly life of this great city. I really liked that this hotel is not right up against the busy street and, on at least 2 sides of the building, there are streets that are not constantly jammed with the noise of traffic. My room fronted one of the quiet sides. It is unclear to me if I was upgraded to a nicer than standard room location because of my Hilton loyalty status but I had a very quiet stay in a room that was impeccably clean and could be easily darked out during the day if I needed a restorative nap for my jet lag. The gym was reasonably appointed and open 24/7 and the wi-fi speed was top notch. I had a great stay here for the money. Based on all of this, when in Rome in the future as a solo business traveler, I would be very happy to stay here again.

That made the location extremely convenient. The hotel sits a short walk from Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, where Pope Francis is buried. Some areas near the main train station are often described as unsafe by Italian standards. We did not experience that near the hotel. Tourists and locals were out late, and the neighborhood stayed active into the evening. Rome is compact and easy to navigate. Most major attractions felt reachable within about 20 minutes by taxi, bus, or rail. We tried to visit the Trevi Fountain at 10:00 pm to avoid crowds. That plan failed completely(see pic). It was packed. Locals eat later than in the U.S., and many parts of the city stay busy well into the night. Restaurants remain open late. A note for U.S. travelers. European hotel rooms run smaller for the price. Even using Hilton points, our room would have cost close to $700 per night USD and felt small. The hotel offers a pleasant rooftop bar and a spacious lobby with multiple seating areas. The buffet breakfast was a solid, comfortable way to start the day. It was included for us as Hilton Diamond members. I am unsure of the cash price. Overall, the location and amenities make this a smart pre-cruise choice, especially for travelers relying on rail connections.
