We celebrated our wedding anniversary tonight at The Holland and everything was perfect. Our wine of choice was unavailable, but the wine recommended by our waiter Will, who also happens to be the bartender, was a great alternative. We started with the crab dip, which was delicious. We'll be going back just for that. My wife and I ordered filets, which came with green beans and mashed potatoes. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the vegetables were a great pairing. We finished with the blueberry cheesecake, topping off a wonderful evening. We had lengthy conversations with Will, another waiter whose name slipped my mind, and with the owner, who stopped by at the end of the meal to make sure everything was well with our meal and our service. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at The Holland and will definitely visit again soon. read more

Having visited The Holland on a few occasions, this may be the best restaurant in Mt Holly. The Smash Burger is sneaky good as was the Brunch Board. I would recommend ordering one for the table as a compliment to your meal, which is what we did. The decor is classic wine-bar: high style with exposed brick walls in a quaint downtown. The bar is large and has a mix of wine, beer and cocktails. Among the best features is that the bar and dining room isn't overwhelmed with TV screens - it's just a nice place to be. Plus, parking nearby is free - hard find most anywhere these days. On both visits, the service has been great and the server also served as the bartender. I was so excited to try this new spot, and it was such a let down. The space itself is nice! Love the layout and the exposed brick, and how there's an upstairs space. The service was fine but our server was frazzled. It seemed they were light staffed, and it took a while to get our order and our drinks (which we could see sitting in the well). The food- the appetizers- they were great! Would eat the shrimp, crab dip and Brussels again. Shrimp were perfectly cooked and seasoned, as were the Brussels. The entrees - not so much. Essentially everyone was eating raw, cold meat. Our one friend said the short rib was fine, but needed salt. Everyone else got some type of steak that was woefully underdone (as in we ordered medium, and got it flash seared). One friend described it as just chewy, raw meat. We also got a side of asparagus, and they were the saddest stalks I had ever seen - pale and mushy - and maybe 6 stalks for $8 - not worth it. After the food came, we couldn't find our server, but there was also a wedding party coming in to the upper space. Overall, I think they bit off more than they could chew that evening, and we were left chewing on undercooked meat and sad sides. read more

The food was very good. We startded off with the duck quasadillas which were amazing and had the steak board as our main dish We split it between 2 people and it was enough food to feel satisfied. The service was great as well. The only complaint was the party going on upstairs music was so loud it kind of ruined the experience as it was hard to talk to the person accross from me. For my 60th birthday yesterday I wanted to try out the Holland. The experience was amazing! For a Saturday it was really slow but we were there early. My in-laws came in and had to drive back home so we got there at 4 o'clock. we started off with three appetizers, brussels sprouts crab dip and cheese covered fries which was something that wasn't on the menu, but my husband really wanted. Then we all shared the steak flight and the roasted chicken. For four people all the food was satisfying. Me and my sister-in-law had alcoholic drinks because we had already started that day. we just had a really good time and the waiter were very attentive. My husband said the fries were amazing and his sweet tea was the best he had had in a restaurant like this. Brussels sprouts were a winner. The crab dip was amazing. They even brought us extra bread. We were just a little disappointed because they have decided to take off the potatoes au gratin from the menu and the big huge steak that was on the steak flight. I think it was a tomahawk maybe? I could be wrong. Asparagus only had five asparagus which the green beans on the side of the chicken had like a whole mound of green beans. Finally made it here for the first time and was thrilled with how good everything was. Called in an order on the way home from work. Tried the crab dip, burrata salad, and chicken and salmon entrees. The serving sizes were all plenty for three adults to share. Tons of crab meat in the dip, the salad was well dressed with fresh avocado, and the chicken and salmon were both perfectly cooked. We went to Holland in Mt. Holly for a birthday dinner and had a great experience. The vibes and atmosphere of the restaurant were really enjoyable, and it wasn't too busy on a Friday night with our 6:30 PM reservation. Our waiter was very friendly, constantly checking on us and keeping our drinks refilled. We ordered the lettuce wraps, Korean BBQ wings, grilled shrimp, filet mignon, spare ribs, and crème brûlée. Everything had great taste and flavor. The Korean BBQ wings and grilled shrimp had a really nice kick to them. Our bill came to about $130 for all the food (we only drank water), which felt fair for the quality and amount we ordered. You should definitely give it a try--we'll definitely be back! read more

Wow what a cool little place in downtown Mount Holly. Everything about this place gave us positive vibes and a need to go back! Service, food and ambiance which make it all a five star experience. Loved the location, on the corner of a cross section which gave us great views of the rest of downtown. I loved the big windows. We sat at the window adjusted blinds so we could see with the blaring sunlight! Thanks to Ashley our server extraordinaire. They have a nice bar set up which you see when you walk in, sleek and nicely stocked and nice glassware! The menu is a nice mix of things and the drinks are too. Cocktails, mocktails , wine and beer. The food menu has small plates, apps, larger plate entrees and salads. Some of the items have an Asian flair to them which was a nice touch and unique. The owner is Asian we discovered . So that explains that! There are so many delicious sounding menu items it was hard to decide. They also have a brunch menu sundays. They can also make some of the things of the main menu too is you ask. First drinks! Bloody Mary and the Pawberry fizz. Both fantastic . Although we did change up the fizz a little. Asked them to serve it in a wine glass instead of highball, Ashely thought it looked better too! Also we asked for extra bourbon as it seemed a little weak. Otherwise once bourbon was added it was perfect. They also made the Bloody Mary spicy and tasted his. Food! We had the wild mushroom angel hair pasta off the main menu and the smash burger from the brunch menu. I recommend both ! I split the pasta with my cousin and we had plenty. Nice light broth so It wasn't super creamy and heavy. Loved all the mushrooms that weren't cooked down too much. Cooked perfectly with subtle Parmesan notes and a fantastic veggie option. The burger was amazing! I tried a bite and it checks all the boxes! Good sourced beef too. The fries are cooked in beef tallow. At first that didn't sound good to me but once I tried it. Wow. Crunchy and just a good flavor. They serve the fries with a delicious yellow curry sauce. They should bottle that stuff and sell it. Amazing. I put some on my paste too. Never had a fry with yellow curry sauce? Come try this. Ashley was amazing as a server always checking in with us and a great conversationalist! Loved her! She also showed us the upper level of the restaurant which they open up if the downstairs gets full and on weekends they have live music as they have a stage up there. It's also available to rent and had seating, couches and a full bar. There's also a private room for smaller groups of 10 for dinner or lunch. Nice set up ! On Veterans Day, 11 November 2025 I ate lunch The Holland Wine Bar and Restaurant. This newly opened establishment (opened May 2025) is woman-owned. This is a great location for lunch/dinner with friends and family, or business. They had a pre-fiexed lunch menu, but I choice the restaurant because I wanted to try their meatball flight or one or two of their appetizers. The bartender/waiter asked the chef if he could make what I wanted; and he did Although several menu items caught my attention I opted for the meatball flight and crispy brussel sprouts, and their specialty margarita. The meatballs flight included three meatballs, one with orange sauce, one with green sauce, and one red marinara sauce. The crispy brussel sprouts included a maple, soy glaze. Wow, everything was amazing, including the service provided by the bartender/waiter!! I love what they have done to the inside of this historical building that has been closed for many years. The excitement of it finally opening was real. We had a birthday celebration with 10 of us local ladies to check it out. The service was friendly but horribly slow, from the wait for drinks to the food, desert, even the check, took well over two hours. Good thing we were in great company. There were only 5 other tables at most being occupied during our visit. I'm not impressed at all with the limited menu. Maybe its me, but a more varied menu might attract more people to this gorgeous space. The food was good. Not cant wait to come back good, but not bad. Dishes ordered were roasted duck quesadilla, baked lump crab dip, field green salad, roasted chicken, miso glazed salmon, and two steakhouse boards, deserts of crème brulee and tiramisu. The board was my meal (shared) and all meats were delicious and cooked to temperature. Crab dip was too fishy for me. The crème brulee was cold on the inside which was a bit off. All in all I wish this spot well in our lovely little town. Hoping for a more varied menu and more staff to execute it properly. It will be a while before I return. read more

I don't write a lot of reviews, but Mount Holly needed a place like this- elevated and delicious. We live in the area and were looking for a date night out- we were super satisfied and pleased, and surprised by this gem! We got the duck quesadilla, Brussels, salmon, and lamb. Everything was beautifully flavored. It's not often I truly enjoy every dish and it's sauce placed on the table, but everything was cooked and flavored to perfection. We were truly impressed and raving about it to each other as we ate. I liked the exposed brick , and the room had character. Since it's a new restaurant it may need some more time to find its groove. Here's some slight touches that I feel would make it even better. For a wine bar the wine list was short and the price range for both glasses and bottles could have been more balanced. That being said, our bottle of Perelada was great and we were ultimately satisfied. The lighting could also be slightly dimmer for a more evening out feel, but the vibe was lovely nonetheless! We'll definitely be coming back and bring our friends and family when they are visiting as well. read more

Had a great first experience at The Holland. Went there with my boyfriend and we sat at the bar. I told them I had a dairy allergy and they provided a dairy allergen list which was so exciting for me because restaurants around here usually don't have one. I got the salmon and my bf got the ribeye. Both meals were great! The salmon was a tad salty. I'd will still order it again. The bar top was beautiful and they have a really cool upstairs. They are going to have live music when they have their grand opening. I would love it if they put some type of dairy free dessert on the menu. We will definitely be back. This is a review of dinner. Not sure about lunch and brunch which they also serve. First let me say service was great and our waitress was really top notch. And I am a fan of Mount Holly restaurants and I know folks put their heart and soul into new ones so I want to offer some helpful opinions as I describe my experience. The pawberry cocktail. Simply put its a blackberry mojito with bourbon instead if rum. It was super light, like an agua fresca. But good if thats your goal. Not my kind of drink really, bourbon was not forward so bourbon lovers skip it. Agua fresca lovers go for it, you will like. The crab dip was great. They said they decided to switch from foccacia to crustinis and that was a great choice. It had some pickled fresno peices on top. My recommendation is more pickled fresnos! Dice them up and serve them in a cup. That with that dip was awesome! Then we had the "reclaimed fashion" or old fashion, it was predicably excellent. A unique drink was the rusty rafter, my wife got it and its a super sweet drink similar to an old fashion. I like the OG better but my wife likes sweet old fashions and loved it. The bartender seemed like a great personality for a bartender to have as well. Always a good benefit. The heirloom tomato and pistachio crusted burrata salad was next. It was awesome!! You should 100% get it! Still some opinions to make better. The olives were uneccesary. They were good just not needed. The dressing was a light balsamic and was tasty. Ok to keep but I would recommend a black garlic citrus salad dressing or something similar. In any case as it is, it was fantastic! The steak board. All the meats come presliced. The meats were ribeye, lamb chop, and filet. I didnt taste a red curry on the ribeye as advertised, but that was my favorite meat! it was cooked perfectly. It had visible char marks and good flavor. The filet was over done and had no sear of any kind. It was a little disappointing. I could taste a faint char taste but it wasnt visible. But it was tender and tasted great with the demiglace. On that, that demi was freaking amazing! It made the steak plate 2 out of 10 better on its own. I hate lamb chops in general so I will withhold opinions, it was served with a chimmichurri which was good and cooked perfectly. I am interested to try the filet as an individual order next time. The phyllo potatoes were good. Not sure why the hate from some people. Especially with the demi! And the tiramesu was awesome, made in house and you should just come for it! Really good. Altogether heres my take. This is a new place so it will improve. The people I met were kind, caring, and commited. And thats the most important ingredient in any restaurant. The food was great. Although there is room for improvement. That said I would come here again. I would say people who say its over priced are wrong. I would say they should raise prices actualy. It is fine dining. I wouldnt call it the finest dining though it is really good. But if you are comparing this to Steak48 or something, don't. Its not even trying to be that. Aside from food, if you're wearing a hat, that would be fine. If you're dressed up, that would be fine too. Its a comfortable and upscale place all at once. Decor was great. Really liked the people. I am so pulling for this place. But as it is I would go back for sure, its good and a good value. Great addition to Mt Holly. Please give it a try! read more

This is my honest review, in the best attempt not to bash a new restaurant. First off, the place is beautiful and the staff were extremely friendly. The beer selection is extremely boring, except for Keepsake being available. It screams, "Everything here is high-end--except our beer and whiskey." Jack Beagle's down the street has a better selection. We ordered Brussels and wings for an app. The Brussels were good, and the sauce they came with was great. The wings... I don't know who tf told y'all those were a good idea, but fire them. Underbaked wings smothered in Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. I felt like I needed a shower after having two. And with how pink the insides were, I couldn't even finish them. Very rare that I order wings and don't finish them. On to the main course: Holland Steakhouse Board, medium rare. The potatoes dried my mouth out instantly; green beans weren't bad, though. The ribeye was cooked right and pretty good, I must say. The filet was rare and super red, but tasted better than it looked. The lamb... once again, y'all are fuggin' tripping. Super red and dry af. My jaw was tired after one bite. It's obvious y'all have some real issues to work out, but there's lots of potential. At that price point, though, this isn't Belmont, and I fear it can snowball quick with the folks around the area. Review: This place was disappointing enough that it actually pushed both my partner and me to start writing food reviews. We've been fortunate to dine at a wide range of establishments--not just across the U.S., but throughout the Caribbean and Europe--so we always try to approach new restaurants with excitement and an open mind. As locals to the Belmont / Mount Holly area, The Holland has been on our radar for quite some time. We were genuinely excited to finally visit on a Friday night. Starting with the positives: the aesthetics are well done. The space gives off a vintage wine-bar feel. Personally, I found it a bit too bright, but that's a minor preference and not worth getting too granular over. Now to the experience. For an establishment branding itself as an upscale wine bar, the wine selection was very weak. The bourbon selection was even more disappointing. I understand this isn't meant to be a cocktail bar--but if you're advertising Old Fashioneds and leaning into a vintage concept, the spirits program needs serious improvement. The restaurant also felt very understaffed. After being seated, we were given water and told service would be right back to take our drink order--which is completely fine. Unfortunately, service didn't return for roughly 10 minutes. By the time they did, we were able to place our full order: a shareable, main courses, and drinks. Food & drink breakdown: * Chili Lime Shrimp (shareable): Decent. Good flavors, but nothing memorable. * Curry Ribeye (medium rare): The steak was cooked correctly, but it lacked depth and seasoning. It felt like a plain ribeye with curry poured over it rather than a cohesive dish. * Caesar Salad with Shrimp: A $15 upcharge for five shrimp, bringing the salad to $34 total. The lettuce was soft, the dressing lacked flavor, and the dish was far below par for the price point. No added value or refinement. * Old Fashioned: Ordered first and arrived after the main courses, which is never ideal. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst Old Fashioneds I've ever had. Overly sweet, extremely light, and honestly tasted like it was missing bourbon altogether. * Paw Berry Fizz: A bourbon-based cocktail with smashed blackberries, lime, and soda water. Sadly, this followed the same trend as the Old Fashioned--very sweet, light, and flat. The drinks reminded us of cheap, watered-down resort cocktails being sold at a premium price. The server was respectful and attentive when present, and I don't believe these issues fall on his shoulders. We did see the owner making her rounds, which was nice, though she didn't stop by our table--no issue there. Overall, The Holland has a nice aesthetic and real potential, but the execution falls short across service, drinks, and food--especially for the prices being charged. Had the crab dip and the bread was stale, had the meat charcuterie board, literally only 9 ounces of meat, the potato serving was a joke that was not even four spoonful. It taste like boxed potatoes with breadcrumbs on top the green beans were nothing to write home about. The bar ran out of wine spent $100 and left hungry server was nice restaurant was nice. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the food because we were denied a table despite having a reservation made seven days in advance for a birthday dinner. We intentionally chose to support a local restaurant instead of dining at places like Chill Fire, Prime 16, or another Charlotte restaurant, which unfortunately turned out to be a huge mistake. Upon arrival, the hostess informed us that no tables were available, even with our reservation, and could not provide any estimate for when we might be seated. I asked to speak with a manager, but after waiting more than 10 minutes, I was told the manager was assisting a large party upstairs and would not be speaking with me. This experience was embarrassing and extremely disappointing, especially given that it was for a birthday celebration. I have never experienced a restaurant failing to honor a reservation without offering an explanation or taking accountability. Based on this experience, I will not be returning. A cafeteria trying to look like a fancy restaurant. At this time of year, the sun was beaming in through the floor to ceiling windows and it was blinding and quite warm. After seeing other patrons that came in after us receive drinks, I had to ask the waitress to check in my glass of wine. We were celebrating a birthday, (no one asked), and expected a very nice dinner. Our bill was ~$150 before tip. We had one appetizer, two dinners, one dessert, and one glass of wine. The appetizer crab dip was VERY good, with plenty of toast. The meals were "ok", the lamb almost tasteless. The potatos au gratin were hot like lava,and just mashed potatoes with a bit of parm on top. The green beans had not been trimmed. The dessert was horrible, salty, and we couldn't eat it. We visited this restaurant back in September and it was the best steak I had ever eaten. The steak was amazing as was the ranch and demi glacé they brought out. We've ranted and raved about this place to our family. So tonight we got everyone together to finally go back. Tonight's food was less than mediocre. The steak was fatty and had no flavor, the ranch and the demi glacé tasted different and not in a good way. We left and our whole table of 8 agreed we would never go back. I am extremely disappointed because the first time we went it was amazing and we wanted to show it to our family, but instead it made us look like liars because the food wasn't good at all. We had a reservations for 6: 15 PM and when we got there, the hostess told us that they had three big parties and that they gave our reservations to them. That we would have to wait half hour. We ended up going to the bar and waiting an hour and a half before we could be seated. The owner of the company was there. She did not approach us or even try to accommodate us or apologize for us waiting so long. Very poor professional courtesy the owner has. She also passed her table a couple of times, knowing that we waited a very long time. They were so overwhelmed the food that we ordered was horrible. Beautiful Restaurant-- ambiance is on point. We were very excited to dine there on Mothers Day. We ended up leaving. Cool reception at front door. They acted annoyed that we even came in! It was wild! The tall girl bar tender who reluctantly had to seat us was seriously one of the rudest servers I have ever encountered. I know everyone has a bad day! Maybe she was sad on Mothers Day. She grabbed ONE menu from another table and put it on our table. It was not even legible. The menu said PRIXE FIXE DINNER MENU. We called restaurant twice. Never was it mentioned that there was a specific menu for that day. The food listed was VERY strange for a mother's day brunch! Tuna Tartare, Steak grilled caesar---very heavy with all the selections for 11:00 in the morning! We asked for the regular menu. Nope--not happening. Not sure we will be back. It feels like they need major training on service and everyone working seemed on edge and running around. Its sad. We wanted to support local! We ended up at Noble Smoke which was a great pivot! After five minutes we corralled a waitress and told her we all (now three couples) had been standing around without anyone speaking to us. Service is good, ambiance is good, food is just ok and way over priced! The side that is there twice baked potatoes is awful! Been there twice now and not sure I will do dinner AGAIN! I am going to give the lunch and brunch time a try. read more

My kids took me out to brunch for my birthday. The food was very good, large portions, and excellent timely and friendly service. They make all the pastries and desserts in house. Bacon was delicious and cooked perfectly. We have watched the remodel process and I was anxious to try. Overall a very good experience and a good value for quality and quantity. We will be back! read more
