The limerick soup was amazing, the large pretzel was moist with a nice chew, the fish and chips were okay. I like the beer alot. The salads were stunning. The decor of the place gives a neighborhood vibe meets speakeasy with the library leading into the main restaurant and brewery. I wish they had the lunch menu on the weekends. This visit didn't ruin Jekyll & Hyde for me--but it definitely confirmed that consistency is not their strong suit. I'd been here once before late night in the taproom with the smaller bar menu. That experience was fine. Not amazing, not bad--decent food, decent drinks, decent service. Very low-key and very different from this visit. So when we were nearby again before heading out to see Christmas lights, it felt like an easy, familiar option. Unfortunately, this time was a completely different story. Service was extremely slow from the start. It took nearly 30 minutes just to get drinks and an appetizer, and water refills were basically nonexistent. I eventually got up and refilled our water myself while watching the server refill other tables. We were there for almost 2.5 hours, which felt excessive given the pace and crowd level. Food was all over the place. Three meals had to be sent back. My BLT showed up with maybe two strips of limp bacon, soggy toast, wilted lettuce, and red peppers instead of the onions I asked for. Rather than remaking it, they just brought out two more equally limp strips of bacon. Two burgers ordered medium/medium-rare came out well done--even though the menu clearly shows doneness levels with photos, which made that miss even more confusing. On the bright side, the potato soup was excellent--probably the best thing we had--but it arrived lukewarm after a long wait. Other dishes like the scallops, Cajun Alfredo, and chicken sandwich were genuinely good, which just added to the confusion. A manager did drop off food and briefly acknowledge the issues, but there was no real apology or follow-up. I don't expect comps, but with this many problems and slow service, the lack of accountability was noticeable. Used plates from appetizers and sides that were clearly finished sat on the table for most of the meal. When dishes were cleared, the server often asked people who were still actively eating rather than removing the empty or stacked plates that were ready to go, which only added to the overall lack of attention and awareness. Between the inconsistent food, very slow service, and an overall lack of attention to detail, this visit just didn't work. It seems like one of those places where you might get a great meal--or you might spend hours wondering what went wrong. For now, it's firmly in the meh, proceed with caution category for me. read more

I'd have gone with medium or medium rare, but it was still enjoyable. Dessert was a bit of a mixed bag. Mrs. K. tried the bread pudding and gave it a diplomatic "not the best but not bad." I found it overly sweet, and was surprised to see it paired with vanilla ice cream instead of a traditional crème anglaise. Not a dealbreaker, but a missed opportunity. Service was friendly and attentive. Our server checked in about the dessert, which we appreciated, though we weren't inclined to make a fuss. All in all, a pleasant evening with a few small quirks. We came here last year to drop off my son to the local college (Belmont Abbey). Last year I would have rated this place 4-5 stars. The food then was great and so was the service . This year (same situation; son drop off to college) it wasn't the same. The service was slow and somewhat missing (new waiter, as he stated). We ordered essentially the same thing as last year (fried pickles and Irish nachos for appetizers, and I ordered the Hyde's shepherds pie). Last year, the nachos were incredible and the shepherds pie (I consider myself a shepherd's pie snob) was one of the best. This year; not so much. To start, the table was dirty and it took me to ask for a wipe down. Secondly, the ordering was a bit slow. Ok, I get it (place was not busy); new waiter. The menu's didn't match (mine was different from my wife's and no beer menu- beer brewery; correct?). Once we finally got those orders in, our dinner came first. I asked about the appetizers? It was either forgotten or the kitchen staff forgot. As we stated eaten I suddenly realized that this was not the shepherds pie from last year. It was not good; watery and not thick gravy as last year. My wife's wings were super salty. The appetizers came out much later and again, not the same quality as last year. The Irish nachos were essentially a thrown together mismatch of what was left over in the kitchen. We were disappointed. Not sure if we will return as we thought this was our go to place. read more

I won't be ordering again. The Irish nachos were terrible. The chips are thick cut soft potatoes with no crunch. I am fine with soggy nachos but these were clearly never chips in the first place. They put no green onion on them and the ranch that came with them is so terrible it tastes like horrible bottle ranch. The mashed potatoes are inedible as they have a very strange flavor.. they also taste unsalted. The chicken sandwich was ok.. even though it needs ranch or some kind of sauce desperately.. but then I bit into what seems to be a bone.. the chicken patty wasn't a regular patty and seemed pieced together so not sure what is going on there. read more

This place is great to go for a few things: 1. They have a side bar area that has a cool steam punk bar theme, and they have a tabletop shuffleboard! 2. They have live music on the weekends 3. Great for grabbing drinks after work or having dinner in the restaurant area! The service is always great and this place brews their own beer. I also love southern tier brewery and they offer some of their beers here! The food menu is so large ranging from bites and apps to shepards pie and heavy comfort food! read more

First time visiting this restaurant! It' was Mother's Day, very busy was there for lunch. The food took a bit to get to the table. The food was not as warm as it should have been. The server was new but friendly and she was trying to help. The manager did get involved and he was apologizing for the delay and the food being cold - the food was delicious- at least that is a plus. I don't any restaurant is ever prepared for busy holidays - especially Mothers Day! So much potential...decor and ambiance is different and wanted to enjoy the experience. Have been before years ago to Belmont location and something was 'off' so hadn't been back. Gave it another try and had to be in the bottom 5 restaurant experiences of +200 lifetime. I hope our waitress was stoned and not so dim-witted. Forgot everything, long waits constantly, awkward interactions, asked us if we were ready to order 5 minutes after we'd just ordered, brought a salad to the table and said it was the ahi tuna wontons, disappeared and seemed mad when brought back check. What a great find! I am super picky about my food so to say this place nailed it means a lot. Outside dining with our dog was perfect. The hostess immediately asked if she'd like a bowl of water. I had to laugh at the size of it! Not your run of the mill menu. So many interesting flavor combinations on the burgers. The super tasty cheese sauced Irish Nachos are a must. This entire place smells like old/uncleaned food & grease- no, I don't mean the typical "brewery" smell. The floors are sticky and wet, including going up the stairs to the private party area- begging for a lawsuit. I was one of the last ones to close my tab at the end of the night and found that the bartender had "accidentally" added extra drinks to my tab. I ordered ONE DRINK, opened a tab, and never used it again. Somehow was charged for several others, which amounted to about $46 for my ONE DRINK. When I questioned the bartender on who added drinks to my tab, she was combative with me. We went back and forth for several moments, even while I asked around to inquire whether anyone else had used my tab. Again, I told her that I'd ordered only a single drink on my tab and that the others weren't mine. Finally, her response is, "well I have a lot of open tabs." "Okay... so am I just footing the bill for the others who didn't close their tab??" Ultimately I signed it so I could be done with it, but retrospectively wish I hadn't. Wonder how often they get away with this tactic with others, like me, who would rather go home than argue with the shady staff. read more

First, the staff here are very welcoming, helpful with recommendations and truly make you feel at home. Second, the food is fantastic! We had the blackened chicken bowl and brekkie burger. I eat a lot of bowl-style food, and theirs is a definite cut above. The blackened chicken had great flavor and was cooked to perfection. The creamy risotto underneath rivals versions I've had in upscale Italian restaurants. The grilled broccoli was so good I could almost have made a meal of that alone, and the cherry tomatoes were very good, too. The brekkie burger was very moist and flavorful (cooked medium) and the bacon was excellent. The side of sweet potato fries were about as good as sweet potato fries can get. We had a couple of their own draft beers (they have at least 30 beers on tap), the Hornets Nest wheat beer and Winter Solstice stout. Both were very good. Prices are reasonable. Belmont NC is a cute little town and this is a great craft brewery restaurant if you ever find yourself there. read more

The ambiance here is really cool. I love the look on the place, from the gadgets to the books. The food is usually pretty good also, nicely seasoned and cooked well. My issue is the staff. I've been here a few times now, trying to give them another chance but I think I'm done. The first time, our appetizer took forever to come out; however, the place wasn't that busy. It took so long we decided it was faster to leave and go somewhere else for dinner. The second time, I was in a group of five. Everyone got their food except for me. Our waitress never put in my order and she wasn't even the one to notice! Another staff member put it in for me and apologized, our waitress lied about it, just saying it would be right out. Everyone was done eating before I got my food and still our waitress would not address it. She also did not come around to refill our glasses. The third time, I was there with one other person. It was a busy night so we expected a little wait....it took over 2 hours for us to order, eat and pay - we each just had a salad! It took an hour just for the salads to come out. I had to get up and ask for silverware. I had to get back up to ask for the check and I had to get back up to get our cards ran. Our waitress wasn't even in the building and another employee told us we had to wait for her to come back and run our cards. I'm done. I will not be back, even for the good food. read more
