After wandering through a series of prompts i got a real person - woo hoo !! After done back and forth we convinced each other they computers told us the same thing. But, now being a nonbeliever (from other store which said had 2, but when pappa hubbard went to the cupboard - it was bare). So customer service (young) woman tried several times to connect with the right department (no one answered), she went and pulled the item. It was waiting for me at the service desk. I've never been a fan of Home Depot but this location has me never wanting to return. My husband and I stopped in to look at some exterior sconces for our house. We asked an employee to help us get the boxes out because we're both old and did not trust ourselves putting it in the cart. The employee, I believe his name was Matt or Mac (another employee called his name from afar but his jacket was covering his name) and he rolled his eyes, sighed, and told us he had a million things to do but would send someone else over. It would've taken all of 10 seconds to help us. He walked away before we could even try and explain what we needed. After waiting for another employee to come by, nobody ever did so my husband went and found someone. This man had the worst body odor I have ever smelled. I had to walk away. My husband and I both could smell him from 6+ feet away. After we walked away, we overheard an employee use the term "beaner" while talking about someone. I am absolutely disgusted, that is hateful behavior and that employee should be ashamed of himself. We WON'T be back. read more

In April of this year, I spent nearly $6700 on new carpet and padding. Our existing carpet and padding was nearly 17 years old and had also been installed by HD too. Over those seventeen years, we had six dogs of our own and had fostered several for local rescue organizations so lots of carpet cleanings and pet accidents over the years. It was recommended by HD that any areas of heavy dog smell we treat by painting the floor with Kilz. 2 weeks prior to the June install we took all of the carpeting and padding, including the tack strips and staples out, treated any areas we felt were concerning for future odor issues with Kilz. At the sales representative's excited suggestion we had chosen Pet Proof carpet, which is guaranteed to remain pet stain/odor free for 25 years but more exciting still, we had chosen a product called Lifeproof carpet padding, which is guaranteed for the life of the carpet it is originally installed under. The padding has a heavy plastic sheeting on both sides of the foam core which, according to the representative, would both help in keeping any existing odors in the subfloor trapped underneath the carpet pad and keep any new potential accidents from ever getting to the subfloor. I believe it is the most expensive carpet padding that they carry and we actually went with a lesser grade carpet density to afford it. 2 days before the install, we moved our two large aquariums (58 & 75 gallons) and all of the fish into the kitchen and bathroom. Because we had taken all the carpet out we were walking on bare subfloor and had put towels down to accommodate the drips that inevitably happened moving that much water, fish, rocks, plants and driftwood. By the morning of install with the exception of the two beds, there was no furniture in my home on any of the areas to be carpeted meaning all of the subfloor was clean, accessible and visible. Within the first 2 weeks we had our first water accident on the floor when I caught the dog water dish with the cord of the vacuum cleaner and overturned it. We immediately cleaned it up and were excitedly impressed the next morning when the area was bone dry, even with socks on. Within a month, I was finding hard knots in areas of every room of the house. I called the carpet installers to complain thinking they had left something underneath the carpet. They wanted to send the original workman back out to address the issue but scheduling that took three months due to a myriad of serious family medical issues. In September they returned and attempted to address the issues by pounding on each lump with a hammer! it was explained to me that sometimes in the process of stretching carpet, loose particles of the subfloor can get pulled upright causing the lumps which considering the plastic sheeting on the back of the carpet pad made absolutely no sense to me.But since I don't install carpet, I didn't feel like I could offer up much of an argument. i did express concern that it might damage the carpet backing or the carpet pad itself and was assured that it would not. One of the lumps, the largest of them after about twenty poundings by a hammer, turned into a dip instead of a lump so the carpet seam was opened and the carpet was pulled back. I saw the circular water stain as soon as the carpet was pulled up which reminded me about the water spill right after install. i explained what happened while they cut an x shaped opening in the wonder product Lifeproof pad. Under the pad the subfloor was revealed to be wet with a hole that had been pounded clear through it, and a couple of little volcanoes of expanded subfloor that had bubbled up around that. Lots of pictures were taken.I was promised copies of them.I was never provided them and then the installers were just going to simply pull everything back together and reseal the carpet seam with a hole in my floor because they don't repair that. I went out and found a piece of metal to put over the hole before they closed up the carpet. I have spoken to HD. I have spoken to Lifeproof I have spoken to the company that installed my carpet and all of them have absolved themselves from any responsibility.Told me my subfloor was damaged before the carpet was ever put down and that none of this is their fault. I'm sorry, my subfloor was fully visible and if it was that damaged, why was I not told?Why did it not feel spongy? Why were there no holes in it? Why were there no teepees of subfloor bubbling up then if it was so damaged? For Christ's sakes, we were walking around on it for 2 weeks with no carpet on it. considering where the other lumps that were pounded out were located. I'm 99 percent sure there are probably small bubbled up subfloor spots from where water was dripped while moving the aquariums so meaning there might have been a small amount of moisture residing below the surface of the subfloor. Plastic backing does not allow for any airflow meaning any moisture at all is trapped. read more

My wife and I went early to the Bellingham Home Depot to shop for kitchen countertops. We were hoping to discuss countertops for our new kitchen (I bought all my new appliances from Home Depot). We noticed 5 home depot people in the kitchen/decorating consulting area. We were told to check the isles for in stock countertops. Nothing there matched the countertop we looked at online. We wanted to ask about getting samples before ordering so we could be sure of the color match with our cabinets. The one associate we spoke to was busy playing a game at her desk and was too busy to assist (no other customers were in that area the whole time we were there). She said we needed to talk to the other associate who was on the phone. Another employee chimed in that she normally met by appointment but might be able to help us without an appointment after she hung up. We waited 10 minutes next to her desk while she went on and on about her Christmas work schedule. My wife is disabled and we made a special trip so she could weigh in on the selection. We finally left and put the items in our cart back on the shelf. I am not giving my business to a store that shows no interest in assisting us. I have over 10 years of experience in managing consumer retail before heading up a marketing division at HP. This experience left me feeling that customer service is dead at Home Depot and is directly opposite the treatment I have received at the local Lowes. read more

Night and day difference, from the greeting at the door to the expert guidance from the appliance sales person. I can highly recommend Katie Drafs if you are looking for appliances, she is very well informed and efficient: even though they were busy, she took the time to fully explain every aspect of our transaction. The selection is quite a bit better than the Canadian stores. I would say 20-30% more products for every category I looked into. Not only that, but pricing is MUCH cheaper for many items such as LED bulbs and lamps, even factoring in the exchange rate. Service is decent, and the staff were mostly quite helpful. I like the fact that this location, you can order online and pick up here without shipping cost. As well, staff are helpful and friendly. I find they have more choices and more items for sale. You can even buy a boiler here. yes in Canada, only a license boiler person can buy it. Probably because its different in the USA. I like this Home Depot. Generally I look to Home Depot for some products that they carry and that no other store has. It isn't always a good experience when something isn't available from the warehouses that supply nationally. The best reviews for retractable screen doors are to be found at Home Depot. While the online product was returnable, the pricing was higher than what the in store price would be and it had no return policy. Meghan Thompson at the millwork desk made it work--I could buy the door in the store and she would make sure that it could be returned if I wasn't satisfied with it. She really worked for this sale and I appreciate her effort. For a large national store such as Home Depot is, it's good to know that local salespersons still work to satisfy their customers. PVC Pipe Dreams: I walked into the Home Depot with a pipe dream and came out with a completed project. The goal was to create a photography curtain stand using PVC pipes. Customer Service Associate Eric in the Plumbing Department helped me make the most economical choice by suggesting I use four 10ft PVC pipes cut to size instead of using multiple 2ft pipes with joiners. This saved me considerable money. Eric was professional, efficient and helpful. He measured the pipes and cut them to size for me. I was in and out of the store with my completed project within a half hour, and I was able to head to the fundraising gala that same day to use the photography curtain stand. Thanks to Eric and Home Depot, I was able to make a PVC pipe dream come true. read more

Save your time and stop by Hardware Sales first, before going here. We've bought a few gallons of deck stain here as they carry a high performing brand. I dread having to go in and deal with getting it tinted though. Rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. We had to get supplies to rebuild the stairs that just fell apart. Trying to do this with as little contact as possible we used the order online for curbside pick up. It took 4 hours to get the notification my order was ready (expected right now) and then when we get there after checking in it took another 30 minutes waiting in the parking lot. This was unexpected as most stores do not send you a notice it's ready until it's actually ready. And the other pick up orders waited close to the same amount of time. And at one point we asked about it and were rudely told by the gal there is no time limit on web orders. Be prepared it will not be quick, I watched a lot of people in the line come out with their stuff before we got ours that was preordered. Honestly it was not worth it I will never do it again. Home Depot Bellingham has blown me out of the water! We drove up to B'ham from Snohomish to pick up a flooring order we made over the phone, since our local HD didn't have what we needed. First, walking into the store it's a pretty nice layout and super clean, not sure if it's new but it's nice. I was said hello to and smiled at no less than three times on my journey to the order pickup desk. When we arrived at the desk, the pallet was ready, and the fork lift driver went above and beyond as far as being helpful in getting it loaded onto our truck, adjusting the pallet, and basically making sure our load was in, covered with a tarp, and secure. Customer service is so much about being thoughtful, foreseeing customer needs, and fulfilling those needs. This HD did all that, and I felt like a valued customer, which is not the experience I typically receive at an big box store. read more

I ordered 2 items totaling $100 (paid with $25 gift card / $75 on Visa). When I went to return 1 of the items for $50, they refused to give me back $50 on my Visa and insisted that I could only get $25 on the Visa and the rest back as a Store Credit. This is a distasteful way to do business because: 1) They had no problem taking my money for the order, but refused to give it back except as store credit. I had my receipt, it was within the return guidelines and is brand new. There is no grounds for keeping my money and issuing a credit. 2) You cannot use store credit or online purchases anymore. So basically they took my money for an online purchase, and couldn't even give me a refund in a payment form that can be actually used online again. STORE CREDIT CANNOT BE USED ON HOMEDEPOT.COM ANY LONGER. (This is a new policy, so buyers beware). read more

And maybe that is something that should be expected at a chain hardware store, but I'd prefer they don't lie to me about it. I needed to switch out some parts for my toilet that were broken. My boyfriend and I brought the pieces in and the lady who helped us assured us that the piece would fit our toilet, no doubt in her mind. Lo and behold, the piece did not fit. We even had the broken piece for her to see, she obviously just guessed and was wrong. I would have preferred an "I don't know" or "let me find someone who does know" or even a "I think this will work but I'm not certain...". I will be beyond annoyed if I cannot return the product and get my money back but we will see. Don't go there expecting them to know anything about what they're selling. If you want it, they've probably got it. If it wasn't for Home Depot I can safely say we would not have been able to remodel our kitchen and bathrooms as easily. Their staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and their selection is decent. If you don't see something you like, usually they can special order it for you. On the weekends they have classes, which are especially helpful when tackling a project you've never done before. And don't forget you can rent their pickup truck for just $20 if you need it to take stuff home in - quite a deal and a lot cheaper than buying your own F-150! read more

In February 2021 (I kid you not!!!!!) they told me that the doors that I ordered didn't fit my house (based on their measurements!!!!!!!!!!!!) and that I would need to start over. Not a problem with this store in particular, but of The Home Depot in general. I needed a repair kit for a Delta type faucet. I saw the Danco kit on the HD website for $9.29 but didn't notice that it wasn't in stock at the Bellingham store (or, from what I can tell, any HD store). I went the store and found they only had the Partsmaster Pro kit for $14.98--50% more than the Danco kit. It seems to me that it costs HD more to ship a Danco kit to a store for free pickup than it is to stock it in the store. There is no quality difference between the two kits. Why don't the stock the Danco kits in the stores? I don't know why they operate this way, but the experience really turned me off of shopping at The Home Depot. read more

Do not buy carpet from Home Depot! The free installation cost us $650 after the contractors that they hire out left without doing the job! And the customer service from Home Depot regarding the situation was terrible! I cannot express what a nightmare the whole situation was. And after reading the reviews of the company that Home Depot continues to contract with i am shocked. There is nothing but terrible stories posted of others unfortunate experiences with this team. Just finished purchasing windows from the local Home Depot... and this is the second time they screwed up the order. The first time they took care of it... I was willing to let it ride. This last time though, I took my rough opening measurements in and spent at least 30 minutes with an associate who couldn't subtract 1/2 inch from the measurements that I brought in, then when I finally got the right measurements, he couldn't save them in the quote. Long story short, I was sold windows that don't fit because the order was placed using the rough openings. Totally DO NOT recommend that you EVER purchase windows from this Home Depot.
