This Home Depot was large and spacious. It looked like they typically had a wide selection and variety of items available. The store looked like it was typically clean and well-organized. The staff appeared quite attentive. The Home Depot was conveniently located. There was a large parking lot that made using the store easier. First time coming here. I needed to grab myself some screws and brackets for joy new table project I needed to work on. I definitely found everything I needed without issue. We ordered a countertop through Home Depot, who subcontracted out to The Countertop Factory Midwest. They came out promptly to measure. Once it was time for final approval, I found out that there was an extra charge for "build-up". I then switched my choice to a granite countertop from solid surface. Was sent more cad drawings, 3 in total. All had differing measurements! All based on the one measurement visit. I was assured they were responsible for the measurements and it would be right. Well, the cuts were a 1/4 inch off. I don't consider that custom measured and sized! That is a sizeable gap, which they just fill with caulk. Messy, unfit look! Very disappointed. read more

This home depot pretty much has all you need but the staff here is not too nice. I was trying to buy a toilet flushing system to fix the leaking problem. The person who covers The plumbing section is not willing to help at all. When I asked some advice his only reply is I don't know what happened. I can't tell you. I was trying to show him the video I took and he just simply respond I don't want to see this. Fine. If you think I am going too far I can definitely go to menard or other department store but please don't ruin Home Depot's reputation. Every experience I've had at this Home Depot location has been wonderful. I usually always need help when I come here and the employees always go above and beyond to ask if I need help before I can get to them first. They are very knowledgeable and assist me with whatever I need. We rented a Penske truck today and we were extremely happy with our experience. I will definitely be renting from Home Depot moving forward. We were very pleased with the customer service and walk through they did before releasing the truck. I went to Home Depot because I needed a part. Actually I needed a few parts and then my project would be that much closer to being complete. Digging four trenches for drain tiles was the project and I needed several downspout adapters. This was going to be a quick trip, I knew what isle they are located in, and I was going to be quick, real quick. Grab what I need and head to the self checkout and pay with the fastest means possible not a bag full of pennies, nor a check, I was paying via credit, or US debit, a card. I know how to use self checkout, I don't require assistance using the self checkout and I can get through that process quickly, just like this trip was going to be. I knew if I made this stop a quick one I could finish the project tonight, not tomorrow, but today. I was so excited. Daylight fading, let's do this! Here we go as I approached the Depot for my Home, I pulled into my selected parking area and proceeded to walk towards the doors that slid apart as I approached revealing millions of products from light bulbs garden hoses of varying colors to Toro lawn mowers. Toro, the official lawn mower of The Masters (Masters.com) and Augusta National Golf Club (Augusta.com). I walked briskly to the isle that held the parts I needed and as I stood there in front of the display it immediately became evident that I had work to do. The display that held the downspout adapters unfortunately is archaic at best. I couldn't reach them, I needed my arm to be 5 feet longer to reach deep into the dark abyss of a display to grab what I needed. Ugh. This was not going as planned. As I tried to reach for what I needed I said "Go go gadget arm" but still I wasn't able to reach what I needed. Again I said with more conviction "Go go gadget arm!" Nothing. I needed assistance but I didn't want to look for help that seemed like such a time killer and I wasn't able to grab a claw to move some of the adapters closer. Who knows what isle the claws are in, there are thousands of isles and off the top of my head I cannot remember seeing the claw isle. Whoever designed this display, it sucks. I just wanted to go. Home Depot stores in the past 72 hours looking for a specific item -- I called around and was sent to certain stores, only to find out this item was out of stock or couldn't be sold. Generally, Lowe's is my primary go to place for tools at home building supplies. Unfortunately, from time to time I have to go to Home Depot to purchase things that is not available at Lowe's. When Home Depot claims to have something available on their website, but the customer says they've been out of stock for weeks, it shows a lack of trust and honesty from this company. As a disabled veteran, it should be pretty obvious to employees that I'm not able to pick up heavy items and put them in a cart. The few times I've been there, Customer Service individuals are talking with each other is about non-work related items and you almost have to hit them with a rock to get their attention. Three girls were standing around the one open checkout counter and didn't even bother acknowledging me no matter how long I stood there. Again, they were talking about friends outside of work, and then absolutely no hurry to assist customers. When the female cashier finally approached me, her tone of voice literally sounded disappointed that I interrupted her little conversation because I was not capable of lifting the items to check them out myself. But then suddenly when a manager showed up, a smile magically appeared on her face and she began to try and cover up her behavior. When a store has an opportunity to win over a new customer, they should take advantage of it. A customer who spends $98, with the right customer service, would come back and spend another $4000. read more

In the Home Depot of Shorewood at the Pro Desk works a lady by the name of Geina. Geina amplifies the word employee. She goes out of her way to help HD contractors and guests. Geina is caring, kind and extremely organized. She is always pleasant. Never makes you feel like you are ever bothering her even though she may have 2 phones hanging for her head and a text message on her cell phone from a contractor. If you ever get an opportunity to go to the Shorewood HD, go meet Geina, as she will treat you like family. Thank you for such great service, hospitality and kindness. You are the best! read more

It's been there for a fairly long time, sharing a large strip mall with Walmart and PetSmart. On this trip I was shopping for paint and paint supplies. The employe helping me in the paint department and offered great advice on what brushes/rollers would work best for the paint I was purchasing. We just moved out this way and bought our first house-so we've been to Home Depot multiple times now! First we rented Penske trucks from them and had a great, easy experience! Second, any time I come in, they ALWAYS know where to get what I need, and if not they tell me stores that do! Third, let me tell you about Cynthia from the appliance department. She is AMAZEBALLS. Like, I wanted to put her in my pocket and take her on all future expensive shopping excursions. We went to buy a washer and dryer and she went over the benefits and cons of each of the one we were looking for. Very knowledgeable! When it came time to buy, she was ON HER GAME. She found 3, THREE different rebates for me. She spent about 15 minutes on the internet looking up all sorts of resources and trying to find different rebates and bonus' for our purchase. And also called her manager to see how much we'd get off if we opened a card! (Which we needed anyways because we're gonna be there often enough!) Cynthia went above and beyond. She printed out all the rebate information, the receipts, the warranty, the appliance info, everything. It was amazing. We bought the warranty which is not something I do often. But it was neat because in 5 years if we never have to call, we get near half of the warranty back in cash from the company. I'm amazed! She kept saying, "write this number down. With the date. And in a few years, you call it! Tape it to the washer and dryer, the fridge, the cabinets! Don't forget it." I love a worker that cares more about the customer than making a few bucks. This place is full of part time employees who are afraid of real work. I came here for mulch and went straight to the register to pay. They couldn't find the mulch I was looking for in the search feature in the register. The cashier asked 2 other employees to price check the mulch for her. While these lazy men in the garden section pulled out their phones and tried to google it I walked the couple hundred feet to the mulch in the lot and carried one back myself so she could scan it. It's insane that their problem solving skills only go as far as to use google. In plenty of other instances it's been impossible to find someone to help find the proper aisle or retrieve items from higher up where customers are not supposed to go. God forbid you need them to actually use a tool to cut lumber or blinds because you'll be treated to 5 minutes of complaining about what they're about to do for you before it gets done. I'm giving two stars because the front of store staff is often full of younger women busting their butts to try and help the bulk of the customers. Without this super crew this would undoubtedly be a one star review. read more

I've been to this Home Depot more times than I'd ever admit, but it's usually one of my go to places. The store has everything I've wanted except for employee help. It's rather difficult to get help in the aisles when you have a question about a broken do-dad and you need a thingamabob. The customer service desk is wonderful and I've had multiple excellent experiences with online pickup. Oh, and the late hours are super nice when something breaks down at 9pm and you need a tool or something right away. And a protip: If you have Home Depot card, ask for the 5% discount. It's always available, but you have to ask for it. Wish they just applied it to everybody like some of their competitors. read more

So Home Depot called me and said they would try to see what they could do. I just wanted the refund of the $694 of the glue that we needed to use because they screwed up the order. Unfortunately for them, they believe that customers are not that important and are only willing to give $100. Home Depot you have officially lost a customer forever. We could have picked a different wood type to save on money if this issue was addressed in the beginning. You're installation department obviously knows nothing about the materials you are selling and you cannot give an honest estimate. Shame on you. Didn't have the best experience here. First had to get replacement light bulbs, there was an employee that was 5-10 feet in front of us and just stopped in the middle of the aisle. Not really doing anything just standing there, just happened to be in a position where it was slightly bottle necked and we had to squeeze around him. He stands there for a little bit while I'm looking for the right light bulb. Struggling a little going up and down the aisle, when I decided to ask for some help, he isn't anywhere to be seen. Next, going to get some paint mixed. I get around the mixing station, and don't see a call button or anything. I ask the nearest employee if they could send someone to the paint booth, she said it was her. I went to the paint mixing station a few feet away to wait. Another man walks up to her as soon as the lady is near the mixing station, he blurts out his request was a specific color and type of paint. The lady just starts mixing paint for that man as I'm standing there waiting for my paint as well. Since, I needed to get my sample color matched I thought mine would take longer than his. I patiently waited for his to finish, which ended up taking a while because he was doing 5 gallons as opposed to 2 gallons I needed. The lady knew I was waiting first but didn't say anything to the man, and took her time doing both jobs. The man actually ended up being pretty nice, but I have no idea what the lady was thinking. I remember not liking this Home Depot location previously, but only this time did I take time to review. read more

Won't be shopping here for appliances. My old dishwasher broke so I visited the Home Depot in Darien looking for a new one. I wanted to spend about $500 and had a good idea of what features I wanted and did some online price comparisons before heading out. I hit Sears and Menards first, keeping in mind one or two unit I was interested in. I compared and browsed for about 30 mins without one employee asking to help. I looked and could not find anyone (keep in mind this was on a Tuesday night). I finally found someone in the next aisle who directed me back to the appliance area (sheesh). Although there were 3 employees in that department, not even a "I'll be right with you". I was nearly standing on the unit I wanted to purchase and still could not get noticed. Finally, I went to the service desk where an employee summoned the store manger on duty that evening. I forget his name but he was as helpful and appologetic as he could possibly be. He looked up the one I was interested in but just my luck, it was not in stock. He even offered me a discount due to my frustration at the wait and looked up an alternate unit. Again, not in stock and would take a week to get. In fact, the only ones they seemed to have in stock were stainless with only the cheap white one available. In a final attempt to please an unhappy customer the manger mentioned a competitor that may have one in stock. (they did, and I purchased it). He was this store's saving grace when so much elese went wrong. In the end, I think reviewing these "big "box" retailers is an effort in futility. My feeling is most are more concerned with thier bottom lines than they are with the consumer or thier employees and will not realize thier folly until it's tooo late, they have alienated thier customer and go bankrupt. read more

I am very dissapointed with the treatment of my dog and I. Being responsible with covid I called ahead of time, about 30 minutes before if my dog was allowed. The man on the phone said yes, on a leash and under control. Perfect. Got there and were told we couldn't have our dog there. Called them again after we had left. They said "it's a person to person basis." This means they have no clear policy on dogs in the store. I am very upset we wrrr told two different things and nothing was done. I still do not know if my dog is allowed as they have no communication between employees and departments upon animal policy read more

This has to be the worst Home Depot. I was thinking of buying a miter saw and was looking at De Walt. The sales guy saw that I was looking and suggested Rigid and he convinced me to try it out. Big mistake. Within 6 months of use, the brake broke so I returned the item here for an exchange. Well within another 6 months the brake broke again. When I tried to return it again, the manager of the store refused to except the return even after I explained everything. Why should I be stuck with a faulty design. I knew that Rigid was the Home Depot product and thought they should back up their own product. Nope. They wanted nothing to do with Rigid. I left and exchanged the saw at a different Home Depot. I brought back the new miter saw back to this Home Depot for a full refund. I immediately bought the De Walt and have been using it for the past 9 years with no problems. read more

Purchased a kitchen appliance package. When they connected the dishwasher they smashed and did not reconnect the garbage disposal. After 4 phone calls asking someone at Home Depot to rectify the problem no one bothered. I hired a handy man to come out and he actually took a picture of what was ruined and fixed the problem.....of course at my expense. My refrigerator has been making strange noises and I have made no less than 7 calls trying to connect with the warranty department and no one will answer the phone.everyone just keeps passing the call around I have never seen such disregard after a sale! They seem a little understaffed, but once you do find someone they will be very helpful. They have a nice garden center at this location. I live in the area and have been going here for some time now. I purchased a garage door there and had their contractors install it and have been happy with that. i've gone to them for various needs and am rarely unable to find what I need. i do have to speak up tho for something that seems to have changed as of recent. Ive noticed new employees that do this location a disservice. I don't think HD enforces a dress code since these guys look like they just walked off the street and put on a smock. I don't know whether i'm going to get service or get jumped. Seriously if you can't clean up and have a little respect for your job then maybe you shouldn't be in the work force. Maybe it's a work release program but HD needs to address this problem or find their customers offended by this lack of basic job qualifications. read more
