The shishito peppers were so sweet and tangy in the bacon jelly and cheese and oozed with goodness! The steak and chicken were such a great combo to share between my husband and I with both being such different profiles of taste and actually complimented one another. The steak itself was absolutely perfect and the bread under soaked up all those juices so you didn't have to lick the plate after (great ingenuity when dining out :)) The desserts were fantastic but the star of the show was def the raspberry blondie. It was everything I imagined and more. The perfect sweet and tart mixed in a bowl with spoons ... thank you for not plating this - I felt like I was at home about to sit on the couch and indulge in something I created. Perfect experience, perfect presentation and to top it off their restaurant is surrounded by their farm. After nearly 30 years of living in Forest Park, I have never had a problem with a local business…read moreand especially not Shauers Hardware until September 1. I stopped in shortly after opening and purchased two 9/16" rubber washers for approximately $1. Since I didn't have cash, I used my debit card. The cashier informed me there was a $3 minimum purchase requirement. When I said I did not need anything else, a man I assume was the owner told the cashier to simply add $2 as "labor" to reach the minimum. I found it strange that I was charged an additional $2 for no product or service. Although it was only $2, it was still money taken from my pocket for nothing. After leaving, I recalled that businesses are generally prohibited from imposing minimum purchase requirements on debit card transactions. I called the store to discuss the issue, but the person who answered, whom I believe was the same individual, abruptly hung up. I then returned to the store, where he was waiting near the entrance. When I showed him information regarding the law as it relates to debit card minimums, specifically 15 U.S.C. § 1693o-2 (Durbin Amendment to the Dodd-Frank Act) he responded, "I was the one who hung up on you. I don't care. Have a nice day. Go tell your President." Regardless of the amount involved, what disappointed me most was the attitude and lack of professionalism displayed by the owner. I have always tried to support local businesses, but after this experience, I will not be returning. The $2 isn't the issue. The issue is an owner who apparently believes the rules don't apply to him and treats customers with contempt when they're brought to his attention. I hope the appropriate agencies and card networks share his confidence.

Ace Hardware (Buikema's) - Naperville, around 8:40 PM this morning February 4th…read more I had a great start with the first cashier who was genuinely helpful showing me how to use coupons in the Ace app. But she got pulled away to handle something with another customer and asked another employee to finish checking me out and apply the remaining discounts. That second employee (older woman, blonde hair pulled back, glasses) made a very obvious full-body "really?/come on" reaction and rolled her eyes while I was pulling up the last coupon. She used a rude tone, pointed the scanner at my phone impatiently, and acted annoyed the entire time I was trying to show the final discount. I asked calmly if she was aggravated that I used coupons. She walked away while responding, wouldn't engage, and said I "misinterpreted" her with her back turned. It was crass and uncomfortable -- especially since I was polite and simply using the store's own app discounts. I shop here because I expect friendly, respectful service. I hope management addresses how customers are treated when using coupons. I'm not trying to play the senior citizen card but I am near 65 and I do fuss with apps. I wasn't born with a cell phone in my hand!

They've always been helpful, knowledgeable, and a great local resource -- which I really value. However, my most recent experience in October 2024 and May 2025 left me a bit disappointed. A heavy picture had fallen in our bedroom, and since I couldn't lift it myself, I called Fullers for help. They sent two people, who re-hung the picture in about 10 minutes. I also asked them to recaulk a small section (about 10 inches) in the shower, which took another 10 minutes. I was surprised to receive a bill for $175.00. I assumed this was a minimum service charge, and I paid it, but it still felt quite steep for a total of roughly 20 minutes of relatively simple work. The first week in May 2025, I called and told them the calking they had done was again in bad shape and been done right the first time. They sent someone. Took 10 minutes to repair and charged me another $175.00. I called to complain.was given no relief and I think was treated discourteously. While I appreciate the responsiveness a of the service, I think it would be helpful if the pricing structure -- especially for small jobs -- was more transparent. I won't call them again for minor home repairs in the future. There is a saying often heard in Hinsdale---"I've been 'Fullerized'. Now I know what it means. Caveat Emptor

This ACE has repeatedly saved me time and money by suggesting better solutions for home repair. The selection is surprisingly good also and usually has at least a couple of solutions to every home repair problem. Just ask and they will tell you the best solution! On one occasion I had called a professional plumber who declared my kitchen plumbing problem "too hard" with the plumber complaining about the depth of the sink and the relatively high location of the single drain pipe (for three drains). The plumber then slipped out the back, leaving me to solve my own problem. I took a trip to the ACE and the associate at this ACE spent over an hour helping me solve this plumbing problem, with the ACE associate placing more than a dozen plumbing parts on the floor in the proper order... I went home and by the end of the day it was working. On another occasion, I went to this ACE thinking I would buy some WD-40 to loosen rusted screws in order to remove a broken screen door. The ACE associate showed me the WD-40 but then suggested an alternate product "PB Blaster" which I purchased on their recommendation. I returned home and applied the PB Blaster to the rusted screws on the screen door. Several screws were rusted on tight and resisted my efforts to loosen them. The instruction for the PB Blaster advises waiting a few minutes for the Blaster to soak in, so it seemed like a good time to take a lunch break. I returned from lunch to find the rusted screws popped out, and the screen door on the ground. Wow, just wow. So, if there is such a thing as a home repair magician, these guys are it! Highly recommended.

I asked for help from the helpful hardware man. I believe I was helped by the store manager, who was asking me questions like he was the customer and I was the employee. Why do you need 6 screws when it came with 12. Do you need 3/4 ? I don't know what is 35mm? Eventually, we both decided what screw that I needed, and I proceeded to make my way to check out. I saw that there was a sponge for 3.99 note in corner that this sponge has been priced 3.99 since 2/22. Not a bad price so I go to buy the sponge and screws. The lady checks me out and sponge rings up 4.59 And I immediately say wait the sponge is like 389 or 399. It's definitely under four dollars. She replies it rang up 4.59 so that's what it is. I said well if you would go look your price is marked differently. She said I can just tell you that this is what it rang up and this is how much it cost. I did buy it because I needed the sponge, but I went back and took a picture and showed the manager the same manager that helped me with the screws who is not far from the cash register and they both left about the fact that I went and showed them that it was 399 and she charged me 4.59. And said oh well Scott needs to fix the prices looks like Scott missed this one oh well. I don't know why they think that they're entitled to 50 extra cents. I just think it's shameful and there's plenty of Ace Hardware's. That have way better attitudes. If you're looking for a helpful hardware person do not go to this Ace Hardware
