This location was originally the location for one of the corporate hardware chains that pulled out several years ago. It is now run independently by a family team. It's one of those locations where you wouldn't be surprised to see a Fatfender pickup or two parked in front. Sure, you may pay a couple of extra cents for some items, still a fair value for the convenience, but not enough to drive you to the anonymous experience at a big box. It's exactly what a local hardware store should be: organized, stocked with quality tools, and staffed by people who actually know how to fix things. I came in for a specific project and instead of just pointing me to an aisle, the staff took the time to talk through the repair with me, saving me a second trip and a lot of frustration. It's clear they care about the community and their craft. Whether you need a screen repaired, a key cut, or just some honest advice, skip the drive to the giant retailers and support this local gem. Highly recommended!

The shishito peppers were so sweet and tangy in the bacon jelly and cheese and oozed with goodness! The steak and chicken were such a great combo to share between my husband and I with both being such different profiles of taste and actually complimented one another. The steak itself was absolutely perfect and the bread under soaked up all those juices so you didn't have to lick the plate after (great ingenuity when dining out :)) The desserts were fantastic but the star of the show was def the raspberry blondie. Ace Hardware (Buikema's) - Naperville, around 8:40 PM this morning February 4th…read more I had a great start with the first cashier who was genuinely helpful showing me how to use coupons in the Ace app. But she got pulled away to handle something with another customer and asked another employee to finish checking me out and apply the remaining discounts. That second employee (older woman, blonde hair pulled back, glasses) made a very obvious full-body "really?/come on" reaction and rolled her eyes while I was pulling up the last coupon. She used a rude tone, pointed the scanner at my phone impatiently, and acted annoyed the entire time I was trying to show the final discount. I asked calmly if she was aggravated that I used coupons. She walked away while responding, wouldn't engage, and said I "misinterpreted" her with her back turned. It was crass and uncomfortable -- especially since I was polite and simply using the store's own app discounts. I shop here because I expect friendly, respectful service. I hope management addresses how customers are treated when using coupons. I'm not trying to play the senior citizen card but I am near 65 and I do fuss with apps. I wasn't born with a cell phone in my hand!

They've always been helpful, knowledgeable, and a great local resource -- which I really value. However, my most recent experience in October 2024 and May 2025 left me a bit disappointed. A heavy picture had fallen in our bedroom, and since I couldn't lift it myself, I called Fullers for help. They sent two people, who re-hung the picture in about 10 minutes. I also asked them to recaulk a small section (about 10 inches) in the shower, which took another 10 minutes. I was surprised to receive a bill for $175.00. I assumed this was a minimum service charge, and I paid it, but it still felt quite steep for a total of roughly 20 minutes of relatively simple work. The first week in May 2025, I called and told them the calking they had done was again in bad shape and been done right the first time. They sent someone. Took 10 minutes to repair and charged me another $175.00. I called to complain.was given no relief and I think was treated discourteously. While I appreciate the responsiveness a of the service, I think it would be helpful if the pricing structure -- especially for small jobs -- was more transparent. I won't call them again for minor home repairs in the future. There is a saying often heard in Hinsdale---"I've been 'Fullerized'. Now I know what it means. Caveat Emptor

After nearly 30 years of living in Forest Park, I have never had a problem with a local business…read moreand especially not Shauers Hardware until September 1. I stopped in shortly after opening and purchased two 9/16" rubber washers for approximately $1. Since I didn't have cash, I used my debit card. The cashier informed me there was a $3 minimum purchase requirement. When I said I did not need anything else, a man I assume was the owner told the cashier to simply add $2 as "labor" to reach the minimum. I found it strange that I was charged an additional $2 for no product or service. Although it was only $2, it was still money taken from my pocket for nothing. After leaving, I recalled that businesses are generally prohibited from imposing minimum purchase requirements on debit card transactions. I called the store to discuss the issue, but the person who answered, whom I believe was the same individual, abruptly hung up. I then returned to the store, where he was waiting near the entrance. When I showed him information regarding the law as it relates to debit card minimums, specifically 15 U.S.C. § 1693o-2 (Durbin Amendment to the Dodd-Frank Act) he responded, "I was the one who hung up on you. I don't care. Have a nice day. Go tell your President." Regardless of the amount involved, what disappointed me most was the attitude and lack of professionalism displayed by the owner. I have always tried to support local businesses, but after this experience, I will not be returning. The $2 isn't the issue. The issue is an owner who apparently believes the rules don't apply to him and treats customers with contempt when they're brought to his attention. I hope the appropriate agencies and card networks share his confidence.

I shopped around but the most value was ordering it online from an automotive remote site. I interacted with Adam and he was able to show up on the early weekend morning. His text are professional and clear, & he included pictures. Mazda even as far back as 2005 (car was delayed as released as an 2006) used a key card. There is a chip in the card and one in the valet key. Mazda blank metal doesn't have all the slots cut into the blank either. Getting the car to go into reprogram mode didn't work because the console said I need two "keys." However there is a chip in both the medal key and card. So one transmitter set will work, or should have. He drove an hour back and forth to get the other generic key and had to modify it with a Dremel rotary tool so that the key would have tolerance to get through the tabs on the ignition. That didn't work and he is coming back next week to try again with just another chipped key. Didn't charge a trip fee for making a round trip, nor for the generic key that didn't work. I will spread the word within the MazdaSpeed group so they can get help if the elect to get the Mazda key card instead of generic. At least have one original card and one generic real key. At this point I elected to tow it to Mazda DG for them to try with my key. Because if I buy theirs, its considered an "installed electronic part," and they won't accept returns. Too risky for $400. If they can do it I just pay for 1/2 hour of programming. Worst case I have to buy their key, mine is also OEM (not eBay/Amazon). His company slogan should be either 'The Locksmith from Lockport,' or 'The Lockport Locksmith.'
