Home Depot is okay everything I need it easy to find when will taken care of at the checkout counter.They have sanitizer you can use when you come in, they are very helpful, and they stand far away, and you feel safe. This Home Depot is the closest to my home, which makes it the most convenient. There are also a Menards and Lowes about the same distance away. As with all of the large 'big box' stores the sock is about the same and at similar price points. The choice of which store brand to go to depends on several considerations. They are: what exactly I am looking for - the stores carry different brand names or different variations of stock - more sizes or colors, etc., and finally which store has the best customer service. The single largest issue at all of these stores is aisle space, cluttering, blocking, mobile access stairs and free-standing selling displays. For example, today I had to turn around and go down a different aisle twice, in the middle of the day, no huge crowds just displays and stocking blockages. Beware if you buy plants from this store. We purchased seven Emerald Green Arborvitae shrubs. They were guaranteed for a year. Within less than a year they developed a fungus. When we asked about returning them, they said it was ok as long as we can provide the receipts and actual shrubs. Best hardware store by far in the area, especially pertaining to customer service. I do a lot of DIY jobs at home, and there has always been someone at this location to assist me with prep work and finding the right tools to complete each project. There was even a time where I was given the wrong brand of paint, and after usage, they refunded the total amount and gave me a new can of the corrected paint. This location is good. Lots of workers walking around to help you if you need them. The paint department is extremely helpful and answered all of my question. The location is great right between two main roads. However the downside is that there is no parking for pro contractors like other locations. This is a hassle if you're picking up large items. I drove over, found the exact location, NO luck. I found someone to help me, she couldn't find it, either. She spoke to a manager and they stopped carrying the product about a month ago. Watch-out! They mark clearance items with one amount on a large yellow label permanently affixed to the item but charge you a higher amount at checkout. If you point to the error they will say that they have to go by the original barcode and will not honor the price posted on the item. What makes it even worse is that they reject your comment on their website because it is critical or if you mention that you will take your business to Amazon next time instead of driving there and have a bad experience. read more

I ordered a garage door on-line on September 6, paid the $1245.00 fee in full. About 7 days later, someone came to inspect the job before installation. He said " I think this is a stock door, someone will call you soon" and left. Yesterday, September 20, I finally called Woodridge Home Depot to find out what was going on. I was told that I didn't pay enough, there was a $45 balance due and it is on hold until I pay it. No one ever called, no one ever told me what was going on! I paid the $45 and now have been told it will take "about 3 weeks for the institution". If you're looking for customer service this is not the place to go. The only reason I set foot in this (or any) Home Depot is because it's less than 5 minutes from house, and we're remodeling. When you make as many trips to the hardware store as we have been lately, close proximity to home wins, even if this place can be useless. If you need help, good luck finding an associate. They must have radar that allows them to walk around the store without encountering customers. I suggest taking multiple people on your shopping trips and spreading out to cover more ground. We were looking for help in flooring. We found an associate walking around (rare sighting) and asked if they did flooring installation. She replied, "I think so. You'll have to ask the service desk." Really? So we walked to the service desk, waited for the associate to finish typing away on her computer, and asked if they did flooring installation. "You'll have to go ask the flooring department." So back to flooring. Once we got to flooring, the tides did change however and we met the single most helpful person I've ever met at a Home Depot. While this would be considered normal customer service nearly anywhere else, it was nice to actually find someone who cared. One day I wanted to buy a new thermostat. I found them on an endcap, grabbed the card and it said, "Take to any register" to get the product. So I did. I took my thermostat card to the register and was told I had to go to customer service. It wouldn't be that big of a deal, but it's Home Depot and I was already annoyed. And customer service and the registers are at opposite ends. Wear your FitBit and get your steps. Pro Tip: I've finally learned to look up what I need to find on their website. It will then tell you which aisle and "bin" (just section of the aisle) that your product is located in. You'll never need to find an orange-aproned person to help you again! Unless of course the item isn't where it says it will be, in which case the associate will do the exact same thing you did, look it up on line and figure out that it's not where it should be, and then tell you you're out of luck. The service here is definitely hit or miss. We stopped by to rent a truck to move some items. I got off of work early, and was at the location around 4:45PM on a Monday. A young girl greeted me and was very helpful, answered some quick quesetions... and I was on my way. When we got back, we were charged for an additional hour even though we were literally ONE minute into that next hour for the truck. The guy who rang us up was rude and smug. I can see why people go to Lowe's or Menards instead of this place, and I can see why they've had financial troubles. They need to improve their customer service!!! read more

This location isn't far from my home, I've frequented it off and on since it took over this location from builders square (use it for my contract company's supply needs) had ok service in the past (hit or miss), but lately they have been dropping the ball ! Returns have been difficult at best, with card used to purchase item. To make a long story as short as possible...We purchased kitchen cabinets from this store. The process up until they got our money was great. Multiple wrong cabinets were ordered, had a number of design flaws, about 90% of finished parts of the cabinets were not done correctly, couple cabinets were broken, and many other issues. As a remodel you always have to expect delays and issues. I rebuilt some of the cabinets and reached back out to the store associates it the kitchen area. I received no word back after 3 times contacting them about getting some of the wrong cabinets and ordering the correct ones. So I walked into the store 4 days later and the associate never reached out to the cabinet company yet. So I asked for the manager. Next day the cabinet guy called me and we were off. After 3 months of dealing with multiple conversations on touch ups, hardware issues, wrong doors in size, wrong cabinets ordered, cornices warped, etc we have had nothing but disappointment time and time again. We talked to 4 different managers throughout the process which 3 blew us off and I had to get back to them every time to find out what was going on and get no answers. We asked to further customize our design and we were told by the designers that they have done hundreds of kitchens and don't understand why I'm asking them for installation information. We never asked for any installation, only design which HD is responsible for. We invited all of the people we talked to to come out and look at what was going on but no one could drive their lazy butts about 1.5 miles away from their store when getting paid to be there! The Regional manager got involved and came out finally last week. We were offered compensation only after I kept asking for it and when they came back with a number it was insulting to say the least. We didn't accept it and to say the least they credited our card that amount without my acceptance of it. This means, as I found out, the job is considered done. Our project was still not done and waiting on more work to be done through the cabinet company KraftMaid. Since a credit was given they will not help me anymore. I recently attempted to return trim items and was there for 1 1/2 hours without a resolution. To further the matter, one of the Managers called up to the counter to help ignored the issue of returning items and continued to help customers who were just walking up. This was even with him knowing who I was and the past issues we have had. Another new manager finally stepped in to help and asked if he could look into further and get back to me. We are now in the process of returning the items thanks to his help. This is a very condensed version but we have never had this bad of an experience with anyplace! I strongly recommend to never do business in this Home Depot. We will never return to this store again and will always look to their competitors and drive out of our way to give business elsewhere. read more

Terrible Store! I placed an online order for delivery. Truck didn't show up and we reported that a attempt was made, BS I was waiting all day for delivery. Called customer service that called the Store to have it rescheduled. 2 days later part of my order was cancelled !!!! Now I cannot build my deck cause items I needed is now on backorder!!!! When we came into the Home Depot paint department we were told that behr marquee paint was the best and was a 1 coat paint and let me tell you behr paint was far from 1 coat and done more like 1 coat at a time 2 to 3 coats the paint before covering it was light pasley nothing at all dark it took forever to dry I would recommend not to by this paint for the price and also for the 1 coat and done total mistake behr should be ashamed with this product read more

Every time I have visited/called this location, I regret it. First time I went there, I brought in a leg from my desk to have a piece of wood cut to its size - the saw didn't work. I went to check out with other items and accidentally left my desk leg at the self check out. I realized the next day that it was missing and called the store and my call was forwarded to the the self check out, only to be told that there was no such piece there. I then asked to speak to the manager and asked her to keep a look out for it that I would come in later that week to check if they had found it. When I came in, the girl that manages the self check out told me that she had seen that I had left the leg from my desk that same day I was there originally, and that she didn't know what was done with it. I asked around the area, the customer service, and the manager. No one had seen it or had it. I went reluctantly to this location 3 days ago again. The manager at the customer service desk was rude and practically ignored me when I was trying to find out where to find window items. Then as I was looking for them, every person that worked there that I would walk by kept asking me if they could help me. I asked 3 different people and they all told me to go look down that aisle for it, then to a different aisle, and then back to the original aisle. I gave up and started searching myself. A gentleman that worked there had seen me looking through the paint section and offered help and I said I didn't want any because no one was actually helping me. So he offered to walk me to what I needed, and finally helped me. I will rather go to Downers Grove location instead from now on. read more

Although it took longer than I had hoped, (both doors were special orders) they were finally installed today. The installers were wonderful! They worked quickly but with great attention to detail. I think this place believes because they are one of the few "essential" stores to remain open due to COVID-19, the employees and Asst. Manager, Stu, can behave any way they want. First off, they have chairs, buckets and anything they can find to barricade entrance. What that don't have is anyone to show you how to enter this stupid fortress. There are 3 to 4 employees standing there laughing as you try to make your way inside. The employees are rude, Their customer service non-existent and plants are dying. I told one cashier that there were 2 to 3 employees in garden have them water. She told me "we have a service for that." Every time I have home depot do anything in my home, it always goes awry, but I keep going back for more. I went into the store to ask about bath remodel services. She took my info and someone called me the next day. I was not home so he left a message. I called back, did not reach him, left him a message. I assumed he would call me the next day, Thurs. He did not. So I called him again on Thursday, and left a message for him to call me on Friday. He did not. I called him and actually reached him, and he said he was too busy to talk at that time, that he would call me in the evening. I said that that was fine. He never called. There are four Home Depot stores within an eight mile radius. The Woodridge location has, over time, deteriorated to Builders Square levels and is now the worst of the four. Staffing, stocking, prices, presentation, cleanliness - typically, all these things are great when Home Depot opens a new location, then dwindles away. This store is no exception, other than the fact that it's actually worse than nearby older locations. Today I shopped there - being the closest, I figured it would save a little time and I wasn't looking for anything complicated. One item I noticed had a sticker ON THE ACTUAL ITEM that said "$11.98 normally $13.98". Looked like the last one. Then I saw a few at the front of the store - no prices on them, of course. But I knew the price and it looked like a good deal so I put one in my cart. Got in a very short line - one person in front of me. Of course, it was taking forever so I moved to a self checkout line. I scanned my $12 item and it came up $30. I hit the "assistance" button. Showed the employee the photo I had taken of the one in back. Identical, but she insisted it was a little different. Fine - I'll go back and get the other one. I get back to the register, she sees it looks the same. Notes that the number is different on one sticker from the other. "Fine, I'll use this $12 sticker". "That won't work". And it didn't. So,... what does any average retailer do in a situation like this? In 99 cases out of a hundred - unless it's some extraordinary amount - they'd say OK, let me override this, of course you should get it at the marked price. Nope. Nothing. My cart was there with another $60 of stuff. I left it there, right next to her. Buh bye. Over a mismarked item - the store's error - an $18 difference any ethical retailer would have eaten - cost them a sale, plus who knows how much when I remodel my bathroom in a few months. The Woodridge Home Depot has really gone downhill. This was just one example. The Oakbrook, Darien, and Downers Grove - Butterfield locations seem better managed. I had to make a return (snow blower) and pick up an on-line order. Got the ready for pick up text with in minutes of receiving the on-line order confirmation. The whole process went super smooth we were out in 10 minutes. They had the "lot person" helping unloading the return and loading the purchase. He was very friendly. I recently went to two Hone Depot's near me and they now have gone to self checkout at all their stores. I like most people hate the self checkout! Both times I looked around and saw people just putting stuff in the bags and not even scanning them so I cannot see how this could be cost effective with the theft that is going on? I have talked to many family and friend's and they all say the same thing that they will go to Menards and Lowes. I know this is the way of the world now but I think the Management needs to take a long look in the mirror and realize what you are saving in employee salary you are losing three times that much in theft!
