I had to go inside to find what I was looking for. I found her, and she is beautiful. I bought a Swiss Cheese plant, she's part of the Monstera plant family. I love the basket that she came in. Visited here today, needed to require a lamp. Upon meeting the first jagoff who simply pointed and was wrong I then shortly met Will. Works in the electric isle, very knowledgeable. We then talk for a few minutes about Houston life as we grew up, clubs, bars, all the hot spots. What a trip down good ole memory lane. Appliance department and service is the worst ever. Their policy is that any problem has to be reported within 48 hours, which is unrealistic. We bought appliances near the Christmas holidays. They broke immediately but because of the holiday hours, the incident could not be reported. I scheduled service with Home Depot contractors, who came out and said both appliances are fried and cannot be repaired, and that they would make a note so the store would exchange them for us. Matt L., Galveston store manager, was not willing to help us with this issue at all. He was completely unprofessional and unhelpful. Now we have 2 brand new appliances that don't work and cannot be used or traded. We are having to hire outside service to help us. Worst store and experience ever!! read more

Excellent job on replacing countertop and backsplash This was our first time with using Home Depot for replacing the countertop and backsplash. Design specialist Charlotte did an excellent job in presenting options and giving advice on the Cambria quartz. The subcontractors did an excellent install and eliminated the need for pencil trim at the top of the backsplash. 5 stars! read more

They are hopeless. Bought a refrigerator from them for delivery. Scheduled the delivery a month out so the "backordered" icemaker would be included. Called them a week before delivery...no icemaker...so we postponed another month. Called them twice during the month and they said no icemaker available. Called them right before the delivery and they said we were getting an upgraded icemaker, so I scheduled the delivery. The guys delivered the refrigerator, but the icemaker was the wrong icemaker for that fridge. They said to call the number and that HD would send one out. After the experience I've had? No way. I refused the delivery. The delivery guy was pissed, but there was no way I was going to go through all that rigamarole with HD when they don't know up from down. So I go into the store the next day, they tell me the refund is pending. Bought it with a gift card, by the way. So the refund was going to the gift card. Got a call saying I had to come into the store again to process the refund., Went into the store again (I live in Houston, so it's a hike) and they refunded my money to an alleged gift card. It was store credit, though. I'll never spend that much money at HD except online. They lied to me, in other words. So the Galveston HD has proven themselves to me to be the most inept, incompetent, uncaring, and unmotivated of any retail store I've ever been to. Yeah, I've got the money on a "store credit" card. At least they tell me I don. I won't count on it, though, until I present the card. I'm betting they'll give me some bull story and I won't get my merchandise. Do not buy from HOME DEPOT. There customer service is awful. I did not take the dryer out of the box and they said I could not return it? I had to go to Lowe's to get a dryer cord and vent because they did not delivery it to me when my dryer was delivered. Lowe's help me pick the correct dryer cord and how to install it and the vent cord. read more

Bought a washer and dryer from the Galveston Home Depot. The delivery was scheduled for today but evidently our address was wrong with the driver. So instead of calling me and asking they just went on to the next delivery. When I called Home Depot to inquire the person on the phone who seemed very distracted by whoever was near her told me the drivers are not allowed to call and ask. Yet this driver had my phone number texted me when he was on his way. Why couldn't he text me and say he couldn't find my address. I work at night and stayed up for this mess. We recently had our sliding glass door replaced at a cost of $5700. We went with Home Depot based on the promise of a lifetime warranty where service would only be a phone call away. After a six week wait for installation we were left with a door that won't latch or lock that leaks with each rainstorm. Calls for help go unanswered or with a promise to get back to us. I went there during my lunch hour last Thursday to buy a $200.00 saw for a project over the 3 day weekend. With no one in the tool department (to be found), I went to the service desk and asked for help. She said they were busy, and was I ready to check out, because they had to walk the saw to the front for me. I told her yes, I was ready to go. She said someone would be right with me... I waited for 45 minutes for someone to help me. There were other customers waiting for help, as well. Any time an associate walked by, they refused to make eye contact and if one of us spoke to them the response was "I have 4 ahead of you", and they would just keep walking. I get it; they may have had a rush and been extremely busy (although, there were associates standing around talking to on another), but you're never too busy to provide customer service. Eye contact, acknowledge them, let them know you're doing your best and will be with them as soon as you can. Thank them for their patience... but you CAN'T just ignore them!!! For the most part, this place has awful customer service. The two exceptions are this very friendly guy who was working the self checkout one night and a couple of people who were working in the lumber department. The guys in the lumber department asked me what I needed the wood for, then found pieces that would fit my needs that were also marked as clearance, which saved me 75% on each piece. Also, they cut the lumber to the correct dimensions and didn't mark the extra cuts. Other than that, I've had employees refuse to help me (I asked if the employee could help me find a product, the employee, who was just leaning against a wall, said "no" and walked off), employees misinform me on available products (I was told they don't sell moving boxes, mattress protectors, cartridge respirators, and various other things I eventually found myself), and employees just be flat out rude to me on several occasions. read more

Terrible customer service. None of the employees are helpful. We had 3 separate interactions with 3 employees and none were helpful: Employee 1: we asked what aisle the smoke detectors are on. We were told to go to electrical and look at the signs on the ends of the aisles. That was bad enough, but then the signs ended up being wrong and the smoke detectors were on a different aisle than what was indicated!! Employee 2: we asked where we could get a wood pole cut. The employee told us and we resumed our shopping. Once we finished we asked her to remind us what aisle we could get the wood cut she then got a disgruntled look on her face before we quickly told her she didn't have to show us - just tell us. Employee 3: this employee cost Home Depot a $168 microwave purchase! We needed to buy a new microwave but it wouldn't fit in the car. We asked if we could purchase it and pick it up in the morning. The employee told us no without saying the words. She said if you buy it tonight it won't be in the front in the morning and we'll have to go get one off the shelf anyway. We asked if she would put a note on it and she evasively refused. When one of her co-employees offered her a suggestion on how to make it work she said "who is going to do all that paperwork." What angels!!! My dishwasher broke and I ran in there almost in tears. Mabel and Pat in appliances went above and beyond for me. NEVER have I experienced this level of customer service. They treated me like an old friend. Mabel had to call other stores for me and I ended up getting my dishwasher from this store. Just takes a few days. We were unable to purchase any of the wood we needed to replace our staircase. First, the aisle we needed to go down was blocked off due to employees using the aisle to bring items in from outside. This store was also out of stock on the other two sizes of lumber we needed. We were never greeted by an employee while searching for the lumber. This is the very worst Home Depot in the company!! Tried to buy copper fungicide today, store website showed they had 18 lg bottles and 8 small. The associated was clueless after walking around, talking to his friends about some new commercial for over 40 minutes, said he couldn't find any. Jan. 3rd I ordered a custom screen door. It shipped and was delivered Jan. 20th (associate signed for the delivery). Tracking website showed it was delivered. After hours on the phone with customer service finally was told they couldn't find it. So now March, they canceled my order and said I had to reorder it didn't offer any help to do it. Last fall I wanted an estimate to get my kitchen remodeled. I waited in store for an hour and associate finally told me a local Mom & Pop had better prices (basically because he didn't want to wait on me). They are the only big hardware in Galveston. Stopped in to pick up a couple of items. The aisles were blocked by employees stocking shelves and the floor had trash from packing everywhere. I was looking for closet brackets and after looking on my own I asked 2 different people who told me 2 different locations which were both wrong. I went to the service desk and asked the guy and he told me a different location, which was also wrong. There were plenty of busy employees working and chatting and no one offered to go with me to show me even though I was using a cane. I saw a woman ask a group of employees where something was and they barely turned to point to an aisle. She walked away saying thanks for help and took her purse out of the basket and walked out of the store. I finally gave up and left and I'll never be back. read more

I went to the garden section at the Home Depot at 61st and Broadway looking for a certain plant and was helped by Cindy and Carol. I couldn't find the plant I was looking for and Cindy helped me until we found them. Then I needed a specic item and Carol showed me what i could use which was a perfect fit. Once I finally got to the checkout Carol asked if I was stuck on the potting soil I picked and let me know I could save money with another brand. I did go with her suggestion because every little bit helps. Both Cindy and Carol were knowledgeable, helpful and very friendly. I got everything I needed thanks to them! read more
