Amazingly well stocked and convenient. Neither Home Depot or Lowes carried 1" CPVC fittings. JBH carries all of them. Friendly staff too.

I love this place. They have surprised me on many occasions when I thought they wouldn't have what I needed. They seem to know what it takes to keep a beach house in order and do routine maintenance on boats and beachy equipment. Unlike some other reviewers, I like that they leave me alone to browse unless I ask for help. Then, they've always been super helpful. Prices on most items I've compared seem to be comparable to the Home Depot, which would be another 25-30 minute drive further- each way. So even if it's a buck or two more, the hour of driving and $$$ in gas makes it well worth stopping in to see if they have it. read more

I always go to Jamaica Beach Hardware first for my home and yard needs. They usually have what I need and help me with selections when I have a question. While their prices are a tiny bit higher than HD, it is only a mile from my home, not 20+ miles round trip away, so my cost breaks even. And I enjoy supporting my local owners instead of Wall Street mega-stores!! I also really appreciate their full stock of stainless steel fasteners & other items I often need in this beachside environment! My next visit will be to buy more furnace filters & beauty bark. read more

Super enjoyable little stop. Knowing hardware stores often have gifty odds and ends, we actually stopped by looking for beach- / Galveston-themed Christmas ornaments. The guy working the store - owner, it seemed? - was super nice. His wife provides a gift-store addition to the store, and we found some beautiful little glass starfish ornaments for the kids' annual ornaments. We were staying on the west end & unfortunately broke our Air BnB host's garage key and he was afraid it was the only one. (Yikes & oops at once!) We were concerned the key might've had too much damage to be easily fixed but the folks at JBH were super helpful, and we were good to go in about 10 minutes of enjoyable browsing, and less than $4 later. Reminds me of a throwback to when your local hardware store had a little of everything, I halfway expected to see one of those displays of stick candy around a corner. (Alas, not to be.)(Also, found out later the housekeeper had a spare. But a spare-spare is never a bad thing!) read more

We have a place on pirates and go to hardware store a lot. Love the convenience but we are super disappointed that the staff are not more friendly. The entrance puts you right at the front and usually there are at least a couple of people standing there and usually you have to be the first to say something. And now with the distancing it makes it even more awkward to not be greeted. There are a couple of young employees that will reach out but not so much for the others. Convenient for the west end & has just about everything you need! The staff isn't very friendly but surprisingly they will help you if you ask. Pricey!! With that said, wouldn't mind paying a little more in a crunch but employees are rude and disinterested. Made three trips for emergency repairs and treated the same all three times. Too bad... a little customer service would go a long ways. read more

As far as having what we needed, this little hardware store has a good selection of basic needs, but, as far as courteous employees they are truly lacking. We've been here twice in the past week and the folks that checked us out were not friendly and barely spoke. I don't know if it's because we're visitors to the area and we're not regulars,but it takes so little effort to smile and say thank you!! Will have to drive further but won't be back!! read more

I love this place and don't feel like I've been to Galveston until I've cruised through this place with a short list and a little time to look around at the random things they carry that you wouldn't normally find at a hardware store. The people are eager to help and I love how I can pick up landscaping dirt or pebbles and "swing around the back" to their materials lot and they come out and load up my car... It's just a great island business with terrific customer service. ---- I hope they'll carry a few home decor and clothing things... hats and towels... it's nice to buy some souvenirs and gifts there --- Only thing I wish is that they'd have white paper gift bags with the Jamaica Beach Hardware logo or stamp... I think people would love to buy gifts there and present people with the location of where they bought the neat things... It's nice to have a cool store bag from places like these... to give or keep. :) Just a thought... ADORE THE PLACE! read more
