While it pains me to leave this review, no it doesn't, this place sucks. I don't know how many OSHA violations they do a day but honestly this place lacks safety and common sense. I routinely go into the lumber department and there is wood unsecured, bays with no chains, unlocked ladders, pallets on the floor, I mean the list goes on. The small redeeming factor is the few associates I have interacted with were pleasant. But I would take cranky associates in a safe store over friendly associates who don't do their job. My warning to you is be careful in the lumber department.

drain line runs from dishwasher to sink drain, bypassing air gap.

Home Depot delivered and installed a new dishwasher. The bypassed the air gap required by county code. Installers returned to my house and insisted that it is installed correctly, that if they connected to the air gap water would shoot out of it. Beware that "installers" are simply delivery people. They are not professionals and do not have the training. Calling the Home Depot appliance team wasn't helpful. They referred me to the delivery/installation company and they don't see a problem. I'll fix it myself but wanted to document this poor quality installation for others. Will also be following up with the MD state board of plumbing. There could be thousands of misinstalled appliances. The issue here is safety, the air gap prevents dirty drain water from backing up into the dishwasher. Will also be following up with the manufacturer. Maybe they could put some pressure on a major retailer like Home Depot to do a better job. It's too bad that Home Depot is using poorly trained delivery people to install appliances.

Just purchased some appliances at the Home Depot. The people who came and installed the washer and dryer shouldn't even be doing this type of work. They are very unprofessional, rude, when you talk or ask them a question they don't even answer. Here is the real problem though. I noticed that my dryer did not have the electrical wire clamped down with a wire clamp. The wires were all exposed. So, I ran back outside to let the installer know that he did not put a clamp and the wires were exposed. He came back inside with this huge attitude. He then looked the the connection and said "it's fine" I told him it's not correct. He then tells me "you didn't pay for the installation so it's fine" he then tells me "you had to be Spanish" which, he was a Latino too and his comment made no sense. I then called Home Depot and let the manager know what the issue was. He told me he would call me back. Once he did, he tells me, you have been set with an appointment for next week. NEXT WEEK, REALLY???!!! I went ahead and fixed the issue myself. The funny thing is the manager tells me "we have been having issues with the same people" I then tell him "so why are you sending the same incompetent people to do garbage work, he then says "cause we have no one else" WOW!? Great answer. The only reason I got appliances there was cause they offer a 10% military discount. NEVER AGAIN... LESSON LEARNED. Recently we had a service guy out regarding our washing machine. As I told the lady when I called to make the appointment, since day one we have done *all* the things we're supposed to for a front load washer - monthly cleaning with Affresh and wiping down the door, seal, detergent tray etc. We even opened up the machine to clean the drain pump. Yet it still smells. She said she'll send a service guy out to look at it and fix it. To start with the guy shows up and parks the truck half in and half out of our driveway despite there being a spot RIGHT there in front of the house. It would have taken him literally an extra 10 steps to do the right thing. As I answer the door I see the mail carrier pulling up and having to get out of the truck to deliver the mail. I went out to greet him and get the mail, apologizing on behalf of the Sterling Appliance knucklehead's parking. The service guy just stands there and says nothing to either the mail carrier or me. Lazy and thoughtless. Then he goes in the laundry room and after a very quick look at it, proceeds to tell me that this machine has clearly been cleaned well and they can't guarantee smells will be gone or won't return, only that he can charge me north of $800 to replace several parts today to see if that will help. I ask instead about replacing the drain pipe since that is the one thing we hadn't tried yet. He tells me he can't do that today because it would (suddenly) take a second person to pull the machine away from the wall to access the back of it. (Never mind we did that with one person to check the drain pump.) So, I'd need to pay for today, re-schedule and pay for labor for two people to come back out and that alone would run around $400 plus parts. Instead, I paid their service call fee and will not use them again because of this lazy, lazy guy. What a waste of time and money. Sterling Appliance, certainly you can hire better employees than this ridiculously lazy clown!

I appreciate that he was polite, seemed to sincerely want a do-over, and was much more responsive than his Friday rep (who was faulted for being "new"). I brought the vac back and left it with Kevin and his tech for a few hours after reproducing the problem a second time at the store with him. When I was called back, I was told that my vacuum has a problem that nobody at Ace had ever seen before. Kevin offered me the hose and motorized head off of his floor model - both in worse shape than my own - as replacements since they were known to work. I did not want used, more worn, and possibly more aged parts than my own as replacements, but I agreed to take them home and experiment with them at our next whole-house cleaning to see if I could isolate where the failure was occurring (hose, extension, or head). On the way home, I realized I'd forgotten my original motorized head so went back to pick it up, only to find someone had attached it to one of Ace's floor models for their use as if it was their own. Excuse me?!? Some brief testing at home, and my unit now seems to work both with and without Ace's used hardware, so perhaps disassembling and reassembling the unit twice addressed whatever the problem was. I'm going to trial it next weekend when we do our whole-house cleaning and hopefully just return Ace's used hardware and call it a wash.

He properly evaluated there were major broken parts costing $500 to repair and left the house to file the warranty claim. Not only did we have the original two year warranty, but I spent an additional $130 for extending the warranty to five years. After he left our house, he reported that the failure was due to "overloading the washer" with no evidence, no indication, and no common sense. We are two grandparents living by ourselves with little laundry that we do quite often, so the loads are small. Whirlpool used to be a quality brand, and with a $600 washer with all of the sensors included to complete a proper wash, you would think the sensors would let you know if it truly was overloaded. Anyway, specifically because of the DMV technician's claim that the damage was our fault, the insurance will not reimburse us. I have filed a claim to the Better Business Bureau and will continue to fight this until it is fixed.
