I went with my sister to pick up an order at Home Depot in Leesburg, VA. Alex provided excellent cudtomer service. He helped us with our pick up order to our car & when one of the items didn't fit in the car, he helped us to have the item delivered to our home with minimal cost. Another employee wanted to charge over $70. He was steadfast, patient & deligently worked at making sure we did not have to pay a prohibitive delivery amount, especially when our intent was to pick up all the items & take them with us. This isn't really about this specific location, but is about their corp supply chain, horrible phone tree customer service, and limited online capabilities. The actual delivery crew did a good job. Here's a brief rundown of the issues. First, we purchased a Bosch dishwasher on July 13, with a delivery date of July 24. Truck shows up on the 24th and they discover the new dishwasher had a broken door when they opened the box. It looked like the package had been tossed around a warehouse. We were told that we could not schedule the delivery of the replacement online, so my wife suffered through the horrible and time consuming customer service phone tree and was given a re-delivery date of August 5. However, that new delivery date never appeared on our online account, which continued to show that the dishwasher (the broken one) had been delivered/installed on July 24. A few days later, we received an email saying that the delivery had been rescheduled to August 24. A couple of weeks later, we received an email saying that deliver had now been rescheduled to August 31. Apparently, there were supply chain issues with Bosch. I don't understand why this wasn't previously knowable. Had we been made aware that it would take this long maybe we would have considered a different option, but that choice was taken away by the secrecy. Moreover, and more importantly, my wife and I work at home, so each time they changed dates or times we had to readjust our work schedules. By August 30 we still had not received notification of the delivery arrival window that was scheduled for the next day. Finally, around 8pm, my wife suffered through the time consuming phone tree yet again, and was told the arrival window was 2-6pm. A 4-hour window is nuts! But they couldn't even get that right. Around 12:30pm on August 31 we received a call letting us know that the delivery would be arriving around 1pm, an hour before the beginning of the arrival window, thus interrupting our work schedules, as we had planned around the 2-6 quoted window. Not going to buy an appliance from Home Depot ever again. read more

Be careful at this store. It appears they do markups for their discounts. Went to purchase a zero turn lawn mower. They had a 'managers special' for end of season mowers $400 off their price of $3399. This was stuck to the back of the mowers seat. Unfortunately what they failed to realize was attached to one of the handles was a price tag reflecting $3199 as the price of the mower. As the mower did show the $400 deal, the leesburg store would not honor the sale to the $3199 price. I could pay the $3199 or the $3399 with $400 off. I informed them I was not interested in buying into their scam. It's obvious they markup prices to offset any bogus sales they put in place. Buyer beware at this store. We had a problem with the contractor that installed our new water heater we originally purchased from Home Depot. It was installed on a Friday but never worked. When we called on Monday the plumbers (who are contracted by Home Depot) said it would be 5 days before they could come out & cost us another $300 for a service call. I called the Home Depot in Leesburg which is where I usually get my garden supplies- their garden section has a huge variety of plants, trees and shrubs at reasonable prices- but I digress.... Amber, the manager, helped us out within minutes by calling the contractors who installed the water heater and obtained a complimentary service call for the next day. We bought a GE fridge from Home Depot 4 yrs ago, and paid for a 5 yr Warranty. All- State was the purveyor. Two weeks ago our fridge died. Busy people, we didn't notice until foods spoiled. We lost everything. We called the Warranty company. They scheduled a repair a week out. Repairman finally came. Did nothing. Left. Two days later anther tech came. Also did nothing. Asked for payment, $1600, saying we would be reimbursed for his repairs. We declined to pay. (He'd done nothing, but was going to replace "parts"! With no indication that he knew what he was doing, we declined.) We went online, and were told that power surges can disrupt the motherboard. (We'd had two 10 days before. The tech did not mention surges!) We also were given instructions online for resetting It. We did that, and now the fridge appears to be working. We lost 2 weeks, and well over $400 worth of food! The Warranty was worthless! The repairman was useless! I am fed up with Home Depot! They do not stand by their products, and do not appear to value their customers. read more

It is tough to evaluate such a widespread franchise like Home Depot; however, when exceptional service is experienced, it is really worth calling out. I have been struggling to find the right light bulb for a household appliance, and on my second trip to Home Depot, I encountered an exceptional employee "Albert." While I was scanning through all of the possible lights, he approached and said "here, let me help you." We had a discussion about my situation and it turned out he really knew both light bulbs and electronics! While it pains me to leave this review, no it doesn't, this place sucks. I don't know how many OSHA violations they do a day but honestly this place lacks safety and common sense. I routinely go into the lumber department and there is wood unsecured, bays with no chains, unlocked ladders, pallets on the floor, I mean the list goes on. The small redeeming factor is the few associates I have interacted with were pleasant. But I would take cranky associates in a safe store over friendly associates who don't do their job. Ever try to purchase a drill or something else that's locked up? I tried to buy a Milwaukee drill. The displays are arranged so that matching the prices (stickers along the bottom in a row) are impossible. You cant lift most of them to look at, or get a feel in your hand. Can't you at least use a retractable cable? Here is the worst part ... no there is nobody around to help you. I walked to the register and found a nice person who called for customer assistance... nobody showed up... I read two different signs with scan codes to get help with secured items. THE CODES PRODUCED ERROR MESSAGES! This happened in Leesburg and in Chantilly VA. In Chantilly, an employee found out that the person that worked in the tool station didn't come in for 30 minutes and told me I could wait... I didn't. I left. I hope this is helpful read more

Home Depot delivered and installed a new dishwasher. The bypassed the air gap required by county code. Installers returned to my house and insisted that it is installed correctly, that if they connected to the air gap water would shoot out of it. Beware that "installers" are simply delivery people. They are not professionals and do not have the training. Calling the Home Depot appliance team wasn't helpful. They referred me to the delivery/installation company and they don't see a problem. I'll fix it myself but wanted to document this poor quality installation for others. Will also be following up with the MD state board of plumbing. There could be thousands of misinstalled appliances. The issue here is safety, the air gap prevents dirty drain water from backing up into the dishwasher. Will also be following up with the manufacturer. Maybe they could put some pressure on a major retailer like Home Depot to do a better job. It's too bad that Home Depot is using poorly trained delivery people to install appliances. read more

Albert in the electronics section at the Home Depot on Fort Evans Rd, Leesburg, VA gave me the best customer service I have ever experienced anywhere. He went Extra Miles in helping me find a replacement LED light bulb for my refrigerator. At first, we didn't find it on the shelf. Albert thought that maybe it was available online; he went to one of their computer desks and checked. It was online, but he said their in-store inventory shows they have it in the store. We went back to the lighting aisle; Albert was able to determine exactly where it should have been; but, the space was empty. Albert identified the item reference number on his device and suggested maybe it was above us in the extra storage area; we did a visual search, and he was correct. There was the box. He went to retrieve a device that enabled him to reach the higher shelf and bring the supply box down; perfect match for what I was looking for. I thanked him and went to the cash register where again I received dedicated service from Christine. It was a Great day for meat Home Depot -- Thanks to all the attentive staff at Home Depot. Home Depots vary a lot by location. This is a very good one. I've been coming here for 9 years. They don't have as much selection as the local Lowes, which is the size of a small town. But this is rarely an issue. The staff here in Leesburg are friendly and helpful. If they don't know the answer, they will likely not rest until they find you someone who does know the answer. I also suggest using the Home Depot app. It's very helpful. read more

Just purchased some appliances at the Home Depot. The people who came and installed the washer and dryer shouldn't even be doing this type of work. They are very unprofessional, rude, when you talk or ask them a question they don't even answer. Here is the real problem though. I noticed that my dryer did not have the electrical wire clamped down with a wire clamp. The wires were all exposed. So, I ran back outside to let the installer know that he did not put a clamp and the wires were exposed. He came back inside with this huge attitude. He then looked the the connection and said "it's fine" I told him it's not correct. He then tells me "you didn't pay for the installation so it's fine" he then tells me "you had to be Spanish" which, he was a Latino too and his comment made no sense. I then called Home Depot and let the manager know what the issue was. He told me he would call me back. Once he did, he tells me, you have been set with an appointment for next week. NEXT WEEK, REALLY???!!! I went ahead and fixed the issue myself. The funny thing is the manager tells me "we have been having issues with the same people" I then tell him "so why are you sending the same incompetent people to do garbage work, he then says "cause we have no one else" WOW!? Great answer. The only reason I got appliances there was cause they offer a 10% military discount. NEVER AGAIN... LESSON LEARNED. I even found a section where Home Depot sells packing boxes and the nice white newsprint - cheaper than the moving companies sell it for!! The Leesburg location is pretty typical, except I LOVE my paint guy there....personality plus and always very helpful when I get stuck on what finish I want to use (semi-gloss, satin, flat...whew). Today we ran in for just a couple things and of course came out with more than was on our list - Christmas lights for $1.88, I'm in!! There was plenty of "have a great Thanksgiving", "thanks for stopping in", "are you finding what you are looking for?" all around....which always gives me a happy heart and puts a smile on my face, regardless of the total on the register when I check out! Home Depot is my preferred home improvement store. They carry lots of inventory. This particular visit in Leesburg was intended to shop for fridges for the in-laws. Parking in this area is rough. There is a contractor's entrance and that area can get very crowded. Since we had a couple of seniors in tow, we did the drop off/pick-up method. As with most Home Depots, there is staff walking around everywhere. I'm not sure how knowledgeable they are but they are present. We managed our way to the home appliance section. On a Sunday afternoon, it is way too busy to cart around seniors, but we managed. Surprisingly there was staff eager to help us. We had such nice service from an appliance staff member who went out of way to research several fridge models. She gave us options, printed a few online models, and even offered to walk through the floor models. read more

However, telephone service is horrible: usually no one answers, it just rings and rings. After about 42 rings I give up and try several more times with the same result. It's the managers' fault. He, she, they are never visible or accessible in the store. The workers never know if or when the manager(s) is even there. So I finally and for the first time called their corporate headquarters' customer service. Awful. I talked to one rep who put me on hold, promising to come back with her answer, and after a long wait the phone starts ringing and a totally new rep answers who informed me that my call had come in to her not as a transferred call but a brand new call. Approximately 5 months over $32000 spent on kitchen cabinets/ appliances/handles/ tile backsplash and a very disappointing experience. Thank goodness we had a great builder or we would still be waiting for Home Depot to make decisions. The cabinets that arrived were not our order. Thomasville took weeks to resolve this - then had to reorder - ie... start over. I have been told many times we would be compensated for our inconvenience - Would 5 % really cover 6 -8 weeks of no kitchen and a family of 5 over the holidays? We bought a "matching" stackable white LG 4000 series washer and dryer set from Homedepot.com. But they didn't match in color, not even close. One was bright white and the other was tan. I've added a picture under the photo below - would your wife be happy with this? When I checked google, their were many people with this same LG color match issue. The washer and dryer were delivered at night so we didn't notice until the morning. We called right away the Home Depot.com appliance delivery number: 703-737-0255. I spoke with Jasmine (10/12/22). She said we could not exchange the dryer because the model number was correct. "We sent what you ordered, it's not damaged or defective". I called our local store in Leesburg, VA and spoke to I believe Christine. I asked to speak to the store manager. He was not available. She couldn't help me either but they gave me another number to call: 877-961-6683. She said it was a "better number". I called hoping they would let me send them a photo and spoke to another rep. They wouldn't let me send a photo, but said I could maybe send a photo to LG. She then connected me to I believe an LG representative. Why would I speak to LG? I didn't buy my dryer from LG, I bought it from Home Depot. I would never tell one of my customers to call my vendor. They buy from me, it's my responsibility to handle their problems. The LG representative was a fast talker and I have hearing loss. When I explained that I was hearing impaired, and asked him to talk slower, he hung up on me. I'm not kidding. I tried one more time to call the 877 number and reached some one who actually seemed to care, Elaine (10/12/22). She said she had pictures from the delivery guy and she could see they were two different colors. But she, like the others, had to call LG to get permission for the return. LG would not allow a dryer exchange, but because it was still within 48 hours we could return both units for a full refund. To get the refund, Elaine explained, we had to wait 10 days after they picked up both units, and then call back AGAIN to request they process the refund. It will not happen automatically. read more

I have been a customer of Home Depot for thirty years. I have seen a deterioration of customer service across most Home Depots. The branch on Fort Evans in Leesburg is especially badly managed and has new hires that lack proper customer service training. I spoke with a manager with regards to the self service vs the cashier supported checkout line. As a principle, I choose to do business through the cashier line because I believe that I will keep generating employment at any business I engage with if I choose to interact with human beings. If I use a self service checkout, I should then get a discount for processing and bagging my merchandise. This is a fundamental problem with all self service checkouts for me and many of my friends that I know. If a business chooses to only function by a self service checkout, I and my friends choose to do business with a competitor. I think that Home Depot wants to cater to both kind of costumers. However, the lack of proper training at this particular location negates the customer's choice. Please note that there is active competition to Home Depot in the area. I will discuss this issue with my friends and we will choose to vote with our money buy spending it with the competition if the training is not going to be up to par. I wrote this note as a loyal customer of thirty years and felt it was my duty to inform Home Depot's management to the shoddy customer service at the Fort Evans location in Leesburg. read more

This review is only for the paint dept. I had 2 cans of paint mixed that needed to be their best paint with primer included. I didn't have the time for multiple coats. This paint is expensive! I got it home and realized the colors were off a bit. I decided to make them work. I was extremely frustrated when I opened the paint and the consistency was really runny. Then, I painted a piece of furniture. It took 3 coats to even begin to look okay. Worst paint ever and no way did it have the primer. The second can was the almost the same story but worse because it was an exterior paint. Very runny, and no coverage at all with one coat. We are trying to get our house ready to sell and this cost us hours! read more
